A few yrs ago I bought an old farm from a developer that couldn’t build on it due to historic preservation easements.
The farm had a lot of beautiful buildings but the centerpiece was an 1840s timber-framed bank barn.
It needed some work so I hired a local guy who “did barns”
Why the hell do we give 12 hr old newborns a Hep B vaccine for a sexually transmitted disease that only infects 200k ppl a year?
Go look at Hep B foundation and you’ll see what community it’s for…and it ain’t newborns.
(Waiting for a community note on this lol)
When we finished preserving the barn it didn’t really look any different… but it had a good roof, a strong frame, and a solid foundation.
It was hard work and required a lot of creativity, but it only took a few months and enabled us to move on to other projects quickly.
To the uninitiated,
Southern girls can be mistaken for plain white trash.
This is a big mistake. Women from the South* are different. They’re complex creatures.
I know bc I married one:
A woman who can carry two buckets of water but still ask you to open a jar.
While milling the trees into lumber we hired a guy to fix the foundation. I was a little skeptical at first, but he turned out to be amazing and in two weeks he repointed / rebuilt the entire foundation.
Before and after:
After the foundation was done we replaced dozens of the old damaged posts and beams.
The massive new oak timbers weighed a ton & replicating the original mortise and tenon joinery was very challenging.
Also fun, a little nerve wracking, and extremely rewarding.
Can’t believe so many people resonate with my restoration project, thank you all so much. Here are a couple more pics of the rest of the property.
Lot of work left!
My barn guy / licensed contractor took a look and told me we needed timber… “big, white oak trees.”
Fortunately the developer I bought the farm from had just cleared an adjacent 10 acres of mature hardwood and gave it all to me for free 😮💨.
We scooped it up for the sawmill💪
The “gentle parenting” endemic is destroying a generation of parents & children alike.
If u join a ‘Gentle Parenting’ facebook group u will see near constant posts by anonymous members asking for help w anxious, turbulent, violent children.
Enough. Kids need discipline.
Seeing my boy interact with sisters and mom. Whew. They’d let him get away with anything. No understanding that boys need pushback and firm boundaries. Direct consequences. You can’t talk it out. Explains so much re: crime and other issues. Single parenting.
GM, let’s watch this bulldozer move 1,000+ pound round bale for fun.
Yes, that’s a five foot bale (large) and easily 1k lbs.
He’s definitely worked on a farm bc he has the right method.
The ginger ‘stache & bulletproof vest make him look soft but he clearly LIFTS heavy weight
@F3Money
It’s unbelievable. To be fair tho, we’re conditioned to “do what’s right.”
If not for my wife I probably would have let the docs give my kids their shots on schedule.
Glad I woke up and realized we’re all being used.
What do you all think of our little barn conversion to Airbnb? This was my 2023 project - I learned framing, flooring, plumbing, plaster and electrical. Airbnb revenue is averaging $2k a month
My mom and dad had their 45th anniversary yesterday.
They had ten kids…5 boys and 5 girls.
Dad is super hard working and always careful with money.
Mom is a visionary, never worried about details, and good with kids.
Somehow they made it work. We’re super tight.
Ngl, I’ve been to therapy. I guess you could say it was for PTSD.
I did some bad things in Afghanistan.
I’m not a Viking and the killings bothered me.
Therapy was basically just a confessional and the therapist was like a priest: he absolved me of my sins.
I felt better 🤷♂️
Suuuuper hot take: the normalization of therapy is becoming a bad thing for society.
I’m seeing more and more people:
1) use the fact they are in therapy as a “get out of jail free card” for awful behavior
2) believe everything their therapist says as Gospel Truth, with no
MIL went from nice Catholic mom to druggie in a matter of months.
FIL was dying of cancer & she spent / traded away their life savings.
Her drug dealer boyfriend moved into the house. She gave him an F-150 and bought his 21 yr old son a Challenger.
Dude battered her so much
People who had a family member who was a druggie have a different perspective on these issues than all the “compassionate” types. Decades of theft from family, drug fueled violence and meltdowns. Druggies aren’t helpless people. They are manipulators and calculating.
HOLY $$$$ last week my 27y/o sister quit her job as an L&D nurse making $30/ hour bc they were forcing the mandate. Today she got an offer as an L&D travel nurse at the neighboring birth clinic for $137/ hr
We moved to Central Texas for work four months ago.
Listened to hours of Texas history podcasts with my kids on the drive down.
Wasn’t sure what to expect, but we liked the *idea* of Texas. Now that we’re here, we’re loving it more every day.
My wife did this *against my will* years ago, and now I’m living the dream. She cancelled TV, WiFi, Costco and got us a local farm herdshare / CSA; started a homeschool co-op (I.e. a private school) w other based moms, crafted a $15k home gym, and made three badass kids ❤️
Cancel your TV subscriptions; shop local; homeschool your kids; work in a trade; become an entrepreneur; build strong communities; eat healthy, exercise, get sleep & reduce dependence on big pharma as much as possible; spend time w/ friends & family; bear arms; resist tyranny.
This is to the most cringey thing I’ve seen in a long time.
Both the “instructors” and the dudes that paid to be here 😂
I’m confused what the purpose is.
What do you all think of our little barn conversion to Airbnb? This was my 2023 project - I learned framing, flooring, plumbing, plaster and electrical. Airbnb revenue is averaging $2k a month
Lotta X chatter lately about calendars, gym bikinis, guys popping “hims” and young bro’s in their 20s throwing out their backs bedding hoes.
What is wrong with the manosphere? The whole stupid conversation.
Find a biblical woman and make her a mom x5
If you think you’re more of a barn builder than a WiFi money machine, I’d encourage you to give it a try.
Last summer I converted an 11’x26’ barn into an Airbnb cottage that’s now generating $2k a month (-30% expenses).
We had some life events happen and I desperately needed
@TheEcho13
Narrator: “Suddenly the human female contrives an “emotional need,” which, once unmet, launches the male into a hostage situation, where he must meet her “needs” or else be dumped….and thus the modern woman has found a way to maintain dominance over her genuinely good
All of my kids are big, but our ten month old is legitimately the size of a wee monster 👹 😂. 25lbs.
He is always eating, messing with the neighbors pets, or ripping things apart.
My kids laugh bc he’s like the baby version of Paul Bunyan in one of their bedtime story books
Lock Screen constant reminder I have a beautiful wife that’s an amazing mom. She is my greatest love, my best friend, my loyal companion, counselor, encourager, and anchor in the ever changing currents of life.
Is having a new baby a massive asset drain?
Genuinely curious. I have totally subsidized healthcare so I don’t pay anything. And my wife is a SAHM so I don’t lose income.
Do yall think a new baby is scary expensive?
This is extremely rough and I feel bad for the guy but people need to be smarter.
Having two massive asset drains sync up is really not a great idea.
Gotta spread life around a bit.
My husband, as he was cutting a piece of homemade sourdough, said, “You’ve turned out to be a pretty good investment.”
At first I was going to talk back then I realized he could have bought much better bread for a lot cheaper so I decided to zip it.
@Cernovich
If I’d been a parent in my early 20s I would have certainly put my kids at risk. Now in my 30s with long exposure in military circles and with friends who foster, I know how rampant a problem it is. And No, your kids don’t “know better.” Parents need to keep them out of harms way
We joined a church “home group” and tbh I wasn’t expecting much 🙄. All of them are soldiers.
But turns out one is a surgeon, one is a tik tok star (M+ likes), and another is in the army band 🎺.
All the wives are late 20s/ early 30s and homeschool their kids.
It’s super fun
I took six months off from the gym to build a tiny house by myself. It was an out of body stressful situation. Finished the house. Down 30 pounds. Now I am back in the gym and making great gains like never before
I sat next to my grandfather the day he died. He had a stroke and was comatose in hospice for 8 days with no food or water.
I was the last person to speak to him.
I didn’t know what to say so I made up a descriptive story about the circle of life - how I went for a walk
I sat with my grandfather the day he died. I prayed over him and held his hand. I assured him we would be ok when he was ready.
They keep nursing homes very warm, so I laid quietly on the tile floor to cool down. He decided it was his time.
He was in hospice less than 48 hours
@YoungAtheist0
And…in fact atheists are murderous thieves. This post is hilarious bc the literal author of this quote was murdered by her atheist associates after she allegedly absconded with hundreds of thousands of dollars from American Atheist coffers.
So yeah, preach.
Holding an axe is like unlocking a masculine blood memory to conquer, craft, and create.
These three axes - gifted to me - were so finely balanced, razor sharp, and fun to hold I *had* to use them.
They were my gateway into building.
Black locust is an Appalachian tree that grows fast, is extremely dense and rot-proof.
One of my favorites. I’ve used it mostly for split rail fences, but occasionally you can find it milled.

Black Locust is my favorite tree,
It does everything, from timber framing to flooring to furniture
Best burning wood, high heat Burns for a long time,
but it's a shame to burn it,
also, grows fast in wet soil
BAKING SODA. Lot of talk about benefits of baking soda.
I used it to clean the wood in my barn because my wife wanted all the mold, mildew, bird crap and dirt removed before we made it a party barn.
It’s called “soda blasting” and was actually a lot of fun.
Tulip poplar in the raw.
Tallest, straightest, fastest most colorful hardwood East of the Mississippi.
I love working with it. I milled these slabs for floorboards 2” thick to double as exposed ceilings
Tough pill to swallow as a guy with recently diagnosed low T (490s): I guess I help my wife too much:

My great uncle died today 103 yrs ago in WW1. He fought in several battles, wounded twice, posthumously awarded the silver star, and still lies buried in Europe. Here is a letter he wrote from a trench to his brother, my great grandfather (who was sailing on Liberty Ships).
@BowTiedStack
@F3Money
Man I’ll tell you what helped me was seeing my nephew thriving and smiling at birth to getting the Hep B vax at 12 hrs old and suddenly turning blue, going into shock and landing in the ICU for a week.
Yup. Eff that. I was convinced.
I’m 39yo, 6’4” 230lbs and probably 20%bf? (Poast shitter selfie)

Tall Man program. Worked wonders for my shoulders and knees.
Have been eating 250g protein, 500g carbs, and 150g fat. Moving into shredding season, any recs for macros?
for Christmas the last 3 years, I have been equipping my children with weapons to wage battle with each other in the backyard. The wife and I have noticed a couple of things happen, as our children (both boys & girls) engage in aggressive play;
What’s life without a little fun?
My neighbor cleared 10 acres for development and gave me all the mature timber he cut down.
I hired a local farmer buddy to help me collect it, mill it, and kiln dry it.
I used it to restore a barn and build a cottage
@Cernovich
Boomer Moms guarded the pantry. They were cheaper than Dave Ramsey. We’d get one plate of microwaved garbage after school.
Nowadays moms either give kids endless buckets of organic fruit & berries, or they give them as much Costco snacks they can eat.

I got lucky and met my wife when she was 19…. I was 24 and in my prime. She wouldn’t hook up. I blew her off, but after I’d had a couple very tough combat deployments she was all I wanted.
Can’t really explain it.
Once I got her I never looked back.

@Cernovich
Americas’ obsequious foreign policy over the past 50 years has de-legitimized our global reputation to such extent that we no longer have the State capital to start a war over the deaths of three U.S. Soldiers.
Sorry, those days are long gone.
Maybe true. I come from a multigenerational military family. The farthest back I can trace is my great-great-uncle who was killed in France in October 1918 fighting with the 26th Infantry Regiment.
I served in the same unit he did, I even commanded a rifle company in
More people need to understand that it’s not just the fact that white recruits aren’t joining, but that within this demographic is a special multigenerational military family cohort that is no longer telling their children to join.
This cohort has been the backbone of military
@NourishLibertas
We declined Vit K shot and the eye goop last summer and got a lot of questions as well. But ultimately they were all somewhat intimidated by my wife and I 😂
As someone who is closing in on 20 years in the Army… I’m not sure I’d recommend it to anyone. The infantry has been a spiritual and physical meat grinder.
However, I tell my sons that serving one enlistment contract is a noteworthy life hack and should be considered.

There’s a lot of disdain from Americans about the military.
No one wants to join, vets still get looked down on…
But veteran status can perfectly position a lot of people.

Ant-farm suburbia is infinitely more soothing to the human spirit than chaos.
It was a reaction to the unbearable stress, agony, and uncertainty of the Great Depression and WWII.
The 1950s trad-life started here.

My Catholic aunt refused sex with her husband bc she didnt feel like it (for six years). Uncle Ted said ‘whatever’ and went to a massage parlor for HJs. He knew it was a dirty old man thing to do…but he didn’t want to cheat on her or resort to porn. It was his least worst bad
This cop is the phenotype of NYC working men. Good natured, friendly but will punch you in the face, still talks to grandma every week, can handle anyone bc he’s a NYC cultural xenophile.
Dude, wtf, the Francis Scott Key bridge in Maryland just collapsed like a house of cards after getting hit by a ship.
They say civilians in cars are missing?
Nightmare.
In a screen time competition with my wife.
To drop my screen time I’m no longer using maps while driving or listening to music at the gym 😂
This woman will lose her phone in the laundry room for three days and then act superior bc she has less screen time.
Some time ago I made some notes on what it means for a man to be a “biblical husband.” It’s not exhaustive or all inclusive but I tried to include biblical principles of masculinity, authority, and responsibility:
Men were created to rule and to have dominion (aka to pursue
I’ve done one cold plunge in my life, and it was when my wife fell through the ice in Alaska at -25. I jumped in after and yeeted her out. No idea how we survived but for sure I’ve never felt more alive than that day 😆
@BowTiedDaddy
Thank you. It was hard on all of us.
After trying to help for years, I eventually just cut her off from my kids and forbade my wife from seeing her.
It helped bc a month later she went to rehab
I’m on a journey to naturally boost my T from 490 (in January) to highest possible.
It’s been six weeks of 7hrs sleep a night, HARD lifts 6 days a week, clean diet and generic men’s daily supplements. Weight has gone up from 220 to 230 lbs (6’4”)
Will get T tested again this
I just made a handgun class for some friends that recently got their licenses / carry guns. Any interest for this from the jungle? I can post it up tmw.

I talked to an Air Force KC-46 guy and told me Boeing is awful: “They leave tools everywhere. There is no discipline. The other squadron CC was part of the p-8 project and he’d find a hammer in an engine cowling. My buddy inspects the max production line for the FAA - same thing.
Imagine you’re a well-intentioned husband with an unhappy wife and land in this marriage counselors office. You’re so screwed. This is such awful advice and to label it Christian is heresy.
@TheEcho13
I have repeatedly stated to men in marriage workshops and counseling;
You believe that you re to love your wife, that is NOT nearly enough, Your job is to make her FEEL loved.
They are not the same, because you are not the same.
Wrong. “Tradwife” in the 1950s wasn’t a thing, in fact it was the opposite. Labor saving devices exploded and women had a lot more time on their hands at home…and they got bored and petulant. Instead of finding creativity with their free time, and nurturing their children, they
Said this before, but we went full "tradwife" in the 1950s. Women hated it & rebelled. What is enabling this resurgence is that previous "trad" lifestyle didn't allow attention-farming that is possible now due to social media
My boomer mom posted on Facebook “you’re only as nice as your nastiest moment”

I was very impressed with my stone mason. He did great work and wasn’t upset when I made him to use a historically appropriate mortar mix 😂.

Looks like it’s a higher quality build from the 1920s or 30s. Probably solid wood floors, plaster and lath walls, built-in cabinetry.
If the roof held up, it’s redeemable…don’t gut it. Patch the plaster, repair, replace and refinish wood as needed.
Easy flip for some trad
