Bootle Junior Football Est1966. Celebrating 57 years in Liverpool's North end. Playing at Buckley Hill, the NAC and Litherland Sports Park. Follow us on Twitter
To all of those wannabes that moan and complain about referees, go and do the coarse, get a whistle and get in touch with us. Let’s see how you deal with people like you. No refs, no game. Think!!!
It is with a heavy heart that we have just learned that one of our Senior Referees, John Porter, has passed away this week. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. God bless you JP 🙏⚽️
Do us a favour
@seftoncouncil
leave it to us to decide when games should be played on our pitches or not. You totally got it wrong again. The pitches were impeccable this Sunday as was the weather. Your Carte Blanche dismissal of games this weekend was pathetic.
#pitchinspections
It’s with a heavy heart that we have to report the passing of our CEO Chris Nelson today who served junior football at Buckley Hill for over 35 years. He was a season ticket holder at Anfield and always had a good eye for the game. RIP Chris, you will be dearly missed.
Our young refs will be wearing yellow armbands tomorrow indicating that they are Junior Referees and as such need to be respected. That said, ALL of our referees need to be respected. They do the job you refuse to do when called upon.
#REFSPECT
While it’s at the forefront of our minds with Christian Eriksen, we would like you to spread the word that all three of our venues have a defibrillator that was provided to us by Crosby Rotary Club. They are situated in the ground stewards office.
Today we will be observing a minutes silence for Andy Curo who was sadly taken away from his family and friends last week. Our thoughts are with his family at these sad times. Andy was always happy to lend a helping hand to us at Buckley Hill. RIP Andy💔
The parents attitude and behaviour at our games lately has been less than acceptable at Buckley Hill. Managers /Coaches you need to rein them in. It’s your responsibility. Failure to do so will severely threaten your future on our league.
@Liverpool_CFA
So it’s a final farewell to Chris Nelson today. God bless you Chris and thanks for your commitment over the many years you served the Bootle JFL as one of its founder members.
To remember Chris Nelson today we ask everyone to join in with a one minute’s applause before each match KO. Chris has been involved with the Bootle JFL for over 35 years and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
God bless you Chris and thank you.
Message from Kev Mahoney who had a seizure today at the
@JflScotlandroad
Scotty Rd Lge. “Well I am staying in for 3 days, MRI scan, CT scan, chest X-ray, they are giving me pain killers, gonna put me on a vitamin drip, not great but thank you.” Well done the two nurses👏👏👏
The NAC silenced as teams and supporters pay their respects for the young Blackpool boy who’s life was tragically taken away this week. Our thoughts are with his family. 🙏
It's with sadness that we've just been told that John Jones passed away on Saturday 29th July. John was a founder member of the Bootle, Litherland & Netherton Junior Football League in 1966 and served as secretary, fixtures secretary and treasurer for over 30 years. God Bless🙏
Let’s get plenty of team photos tomorrow. Tag us in and we’ll retweet them for you. Good luck to everyone involved with Bootle JFL at the NAC, LSP and Buckley Hill. Players, parents, managers and coaches, referees and ground stewards. Have a great season ⚽️
All Bootle JFL games at all three of our venues are cancelled for tomorrow 18/12/22. Games will carry over to 8/1/23.
Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year 23.
RIP John Porter our most senior referee who sadly passed away this week. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.
We’ve received a complaint from Sefton Council that teams training at Buckley Hill have left copious amounts of litter and even BBQs. Really guys? Is this how you treat your own facilities? Can everyone retweet this to get the obvious message out please.?
Looking forward to our restart on Sunday. Good luck to all the players, teams, coaches and spectators in whatever league this weekend. Well done all of you for being so patient. Remember to stay safe, observe the rules and we'll get through this. Protect our NHS workers.
Bootle JFL would like to thank all of the committee, ground stewards, referees and the
@SouthportWhippy
catering teams that put in a massive effort all through the season to make sure we can get the games on. 👏👏👏 See you all back in September
Useful conversation with the “Managing Agent” this morning who agreed that it’s better if we can assess our own pitches in future as to whether or not they are playable. Control has been restored.
Congratulations to
@InclusionBucks
on being awarded Charter Standard Club status. A fabulous organisation offering football to those kids who have been marginalised from mainstream football because they didn’t fit. They aimed for the stars and smashed it. 👏👏👏
Once again Rugby shows us how to do VAR. Total communication between the onfield ref and the TV ref. Perfect communication to the England captain as to how and why the decision was made. Lessons to be learned by football authorities.
#FRAvENG
Good luck tomorrow to all our teams, referees, ground stewards and catering staff for the KO of another season of kids footy. Don’t forget your squad lists and net pegs. ⚽️⚽️⚽️
Unfortunately we have been let down massively by
@GreenSefton_
who have neither cut or marked the pitches at the NAC for the u7’s and u8’s games. That’s 250 kids can’t play this Sunday. Well done Green Sefton!!
All goals are up at Buckley Hill. Big thanks to Barrie Taylor of Netherton Pheonix U12’s for helping us carry out and assemble the goals.Sefton Council told us they couldn’t do the pitches according to a 2:30pm email today. Thanks also to Jay and Kenny Mansfield for their help.
From Sky Sports to blustery Buckley Hill.
@rlowe15
talks to his U13
@blacks11s
team at half time. Wonder if it’s a similar team talk as
@buryfcofficial
v Lincoln was yesterday!
Fabulous day at Bootle FC for the Bootle Inclusion FC football tournament. Teams have travelled from Belfast, Southampton, Bradford, South Wales and of course our local teams. Horrendous weather to begin with but the sun is shining now. ☀️
@InclusionBucks
Just inspected some of the Buckley Hill pitches which are holding too much water to expect them to dry off enough for tomorrow. We gave it a chance but need to call it now for all venues. Have a great Christmas and New Year. Back 6th January 2019.
If your child can’t play football because he or she doesn’t fit in a team, get in touch with us and we’ll put you in touch with
@InclusionBucks
They’ll soon be kicking a ball and having fun without being judged.
As much as we try to leave it to as late as possible to try and get games on, we believe the extreme weather warnings of heavy rain and strong winds on Sunday would be foolish to ignore. To that end we’re postponing Sunday’s fixtures at all of our three venues this weekend 9-2-20
It’s not about the parents planning their weekends ( or is that nights out) it’s about the kids chance to play. We give the games every opportunity to go ahead by conducting a pitch inspection nearer to the time of the games. Each venue is different and not all suffer as others.
@seftoncouncil
@BootleJFL
Liverpool/Knowsley Councils already cancelled all games on grass pitches this w'end. Giving Parents plenty of time to organise their weekend & not waste them with last minute cancellations. Will Sefton act with the same consideration
We did a pitch inspection at 5pm today and can confirm that the pitches are fine for tomorrow at Buckley Hill, LSP and the NAC. Have a good game tomorrow.
Thanks to all the Bootle JFL Refs today. You were all superb. Great feedback from our managers especially for the new young referees. Looked like you’ve done it for years. 👏👏👏
@LCFA_Referees
@ref4me
@BootleRefs
We know we’re getting a frost tomorrow but don’t know how severe it will be. To give us the best chance we’re moving all of our kick offs on one hour from the advertised KO times at all our Venues. So 9:15KO becomes 10:15KO etc
@Liverpool_CFA
Fabulous display of generosity today at our venues in giving bags of food for the local food banks. When you’re called upon football family, you always deliver. 👍👍👍
These guys all give their time to allow kids that can’t find their way into mainstream football, their opportunity to shine and realise their dreams as young footballers. More fabulous volunteers of the wider football family.
@InclusionBucks

👏👏👏
We’ve had huge demand for teams requesting this Sundays game to be cancelled due to players, coaches and refs going to Wembley. Couple this with the storm threat for next week and it’s effect on the pitches, we’ve decided to postpone fixtures for 27th Feb, rolled over to 6th Mar.
So 4 teams through to the next round of the LCFA Sunday U16 Youth Cup. Well that will be the semis all to ourselves again. Fantastic teams in this league EVERY season. Bootle, Silcox Villa, South Liverpool and Huyton Alleys. You’re all a credit to Bootle JFL 👏👏👏Well done 🏆
No, it was a committee decision. Whatever decision we make we won’t please everyone but this decision is the correct call if we’re all in this to help people. We believe it’ll get worse before it gets better so we wish everyone well.
The difference here with a team using their RESPECT barrier. Players can identify space in wide positions without spectators encroaching the pitch. 👏👏👏
Thank you to all of our refs, ground staff, teams and volunteers for making the season work whatever weather was thrown at us all. Hope to see you all again in September. Enjoy your summer - Bootle JFL Committee
Today we said goodbye to one of our founders back in 1966, John Jones. He was treasurer, league secretary and chairman of the Bootle, Litherland and Netherton League in its early years up until the 90’s. RIP John. God bless.
@Teamgrassroots_
You’re the guy that does the job the ones with the big mouths can’t. Funny how it’s nearly always the spectators and very rarely the players. Keep it up mate, you’re golden. 👏👏👏
Don't normally tweet about refs but had to mention the speech before minutes silence before today's game
@BootleJFL
explained to the kids why we was doing it and why they wouldn't be playing without them, was brilliant
#RemembranceDay2018
Good news- The car parking area at Buckley Hill is in the process of being redone. They will be laying down a thick layer of stone ready for use at the weekend.
@HightownJFL
Northfield JFC have asked all of their teams to start shaking the referees hand before a game. Heard too many stories about young ref’s not doing anymore due to lack of respect. We have told the kids, no ref - no game. We started today

We’ve inspected the pitches and the ground in the goalmouths are rock hard. It’s been a more severe frost than yesterday so in the interest of safety we’re forced to cancel all games.
@Liverpool_CFA
@SouthportWhippy
Sefton Council have called all pitches off this weekend and we think it’s the right call with no improvement in the weather forecast. All of our venues will be cancelled this weekend. We will resume on 5th Jan 2020. Have a great Christmas and New Year.
We’re not going to chance it with the weather forecast for tonight and the early hours predicting more heavy rain. All games and all venues are off Sunday 29th September.
@Liverpool_CFA
@SouthportWhippy
Watched this girl boss the midfield in a Boys u11 game as captain in a Boys game if we can use that expression. Also had complaints that her friend also a young girl who was CH on the day, was too rough.
#girlpower
Well done Em 👏👏👏
After 10yrs of amazing grassroots and
@LFC
centre of excellence support with some of the best coaches in the world, our daughter made her England U15 women’s debut in Belgium yesterday. One goal, one assist and a 2-0 victory.
#thisgirlcan
To all of our teams, mums and dads, managers, coaches, referees and friends, the Bootle JFL committee would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas. Have a great day 🎄⚽️🎂🎅🍻🍸
Buckley Hill pitches are perfect. Only light rain forecasted through the night. Save for a deluge through the night we are definitely on tomorrow 1st November. Unfortunately the NAC and LSP have been cancelled.
