A magnificent win in the SBA Midweek league final today.
Bonymaen 68 Victoria Saints 51.
The rink scores irrelevant. I have a huge number of photos, I've dumped them all on Facebook!
Now, all we need to do is finish the season by securing our first division status!
Devastated to tell you that club President, Mr Geoff Clement, passed away this morning, following a period of ill health, surrounded by his family. Geoff has been a member of our club for more than 60 years and will be deeply missed by us all.
❤️ 🖤❤️ 🖤
Thought you might like this, top is my youngest Henry Brooks and bottom is my grandfather (and Henry's great grandfather) John Brooks.
Photos sent to me by Hon Sec Keith Brooks 👍🏻
Love this ❤️
Excellent win in the double 4s tonight, home rink skipped by Rob Evans won 20-16, away rink skipped by Paul Brooks won 20-13. 40-29 overall through to the next round 👍🏻 Jeff Jones got to play with his 2 grandsons tonight 😁👍🏻
Late change to the team tonight, on the away rink. Sean Dunne has had to drop out late (this will result in a heavy fine on tour), Tom Brooks comes in -

A somewhat disappointing start to the
@ospreys
game at the stadium, but in exciting news for the
#URC
the average attendance between the 2 games in Dublin and here in Swansea is over 40,000!!!
Here's our celebratory

after today's cup winning victory, the view is the pool table corner at The Halfway pub, Winch-Wen Swansea 😍👌
Debut making Tom Brooks played on the winning rink and he played excellently. He even played the killer bowl on the last end to seal the win. The selectors wisely put Tom second behind his father so that he could carry him all night! Well done Tom 👍🏻👍🏻
Good turn out for the first roll up of the season. Not sure who had the honour of rolling the first jack as I was getting all the equipment out. We don't tend to stand on ceremony in Bonymaen!!
We've WON a game!!!!!
Hafod 50 Bonymaen 60, 4 points to 6 to us. You'll see the massive contribution towards this from the pairs of Paul Williams and Allan Slattery 😲👌👍🏻😁
We're out of the Super 9s though. And Hon Sec Keith Brooks forgot to take any photos ☹️🥺

Due to the disappointing cancellation of the 2024 bowls tour I've gone away for half term with family. Shame as I
#loveabowlstour
! So in the absence of a bowls tour here is a
#beerbowlsandaview
without the bowls!
My youngest son just said "Tom (his brother) can drink beer now", when I asked him why he said "because he plays bowls now". Tom is 11.
What have I taught them about the bowls club!!!
This is our "new" club badge, not new at all really as it's a return to the original design and this is as it will appear on our new club shirts this season.
On behalf of all the members of the Bonymaen bowls club, may we wish you all and your family and friends a very Merry Christmas.
May the festive season bring you happiness and may your glasses always be full.
🎄🎄⛄️⛄️🎅🎅🤶🎅⛄️⛄️🎄🎄
A little pre Christmas drink for some of the squad. Team spirit is strong, by the end of the night we'll have worked out how we are going to win the division 1 title!
And finally, with my (Hon Treasurer, Paul Brooks') sons playing this year (Tom and Henry) that will make 4 generations of my family to have represented this club. My father, Keith Brooks following on from his father, John Brooks before. A proud moment for me this season 👍🏻
Our team for Thursday, Walter Withey triples semi-final v Dyfatty, a lot of difficult decisions...

Remarkable what you can find in a charity shop, found in the Air ambulance shop, Tenby!
Cost - £2, actual worth - priceless, couldn't leave it there for that price

Bowls is very serious, we'll have you know. But, we are supportive of
@Skewenrfc
and all other clubs that have made public declarations like this. And we reject your take on it
Winners of the SBA open triples last weekend, myself

Trophy presented by Mr Terry Sullivan, SBA President and all round bowls legend 👍🏻
Poor night tonight, worst performance of the season. Bonymaen 39 v Dunvant 67, so out of the Blackiston Cup we go!!
Not much else to say really 🙄
The one bright spot was young Henry Brooks got some practice in on the end rink with Grampa Hon Sec 🥰
Here is club secretary Keith Brooks drawing a front toucher towards the end of today's victory. Showboating for the gallery that had assembled for the end of the game!!
#beerbowlsandaview
Cheers!
Green is ready, just waiting for everyone to arrive. I haven't opened it yet, I must add!! Keep a clear head for the game 👍🏻😁

Very pleased to say that we feature in this month's
@BowlsInt
magazine (page 60)! Thanks to
@CerisHewlings
for writing the article 👍🏻👍🏻 think some of us will be signing autographs on our bowls tour next weekend!! 😅😅
Today we should have played a memorial match against a West Glamorgan invitational team for our late president John Hague. We'll have to rearrange that for next season, but today we take a moment to remember John.
The 2024 season has now concluded. I'll have a full reflection of the season in the coming days. In the meantime thanks to everyone for their likes, reposts and comments.
We are very grateful that our little club generates so much interest across the globe! Diolch pawb 👍🏻🍺
Good news, our league season is up and running.
Oystermouth 48 Bonymaen 64
@DanAmos97
ably supported by
@amoscraig
won 21-12
Rhidian Clement's rink won 20-15, having been 1-9 and 7-13 behind
Paul Brooks' rink (mine) were always ahead and just won 23-21.
We are deeply saddened to report that Mrs Susan Clement (wife of Wyndham one of our longest serving members) passed away this morning. Susan was a wonderful lady, always smiling and a fine bowls tourist on many trips. All our love to Wyndham and all the family ❤❤😪😪❤❤
So, I'm a bit deflated to say that we fell short on the last end again against
@vicsaintsbc
.
Victoria 58 Bonymaen 56.
We had 2 brilliant winning rinks, Allan Slattery's rink won 23-14 and Rhidian Clement's rink won 28-14. Sadly, Dan Amos' rink went down 5-30!! 7-5 on points!!
The magnificent 6, cheers all for a good season 🍻🍺🍻🍺
Hon Treasurer,
@philipclement17
, Vice chairman Jeff Jones, Mark Clement,
@SMBOWLS
and Chairman Rhidian Clement. The brains trust.
Hon Sec Keith Brooks unavailable as sunning himself in Lanzarote
A great win today.
Bonymaen 76 Dunvant 50, 9 points to 3.
Dan Amos' rink played superbly and won 35-10
Allan Slattery's rink also played well and won 27-15
Rhidian Clement's rink held on and minimised the damage after being 13-0 down early, they eventually lost 14-25. WHAT A TEAM
Final league game result, we lost 46-64, 3 points to 9. Who cares, get the beers in 🍻🍻🍻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The details, utterly inconsequential, here we are as a team celebrating regardless 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@WalesRugby
"The durable Scarlets hooker managed to secure 31% with his main rival Elliott Dee managing 3%."
Who did the other 68% want, Bobby Windsor?
We'll be having our first practice session tomorrow evening at Jersey Park, weather permitting. This is ahead of our first "home" league match on Friday at Jersey Park against...... Jersey!
At the end of the 2022 season we'd like to thank anyone that has read / interacted with / liked / retweeted any of our content in the last few months. We hope to have your continued support in 2023.
We'll continue to tweet through the off season though!
A brilliant win for myself (Paul Brooks), Rhidian Clement (subbing for the holidaying
@amoscraig
) and
@DanAmos97
this morning in the SBA open triples semi-final. We defeated a Parc Llewelyn triple 19-4. They conceded after only 12 ends of the 18 end match, somewhat surprising!
Great news tonight as club Captain
@philipclement17
announced his choice as Vice-captain and it was Sian Clement-Wake 👌👌
So, Sian is our first female vice-captain and will go on to be our first female captain in 2025 👍🏻👍🏻
Well done Sian
It was a great thrill to see these four spectating today. The old silver fox himself Wyndham Clement, Allan Devonshire, club president Geoff Clement and Tudor Jones. Look forward to seeing them all back on the green soon
And finally, with my (Hon Treasurer, Paul Brooks') sons playing this year (Tom and Henry) that will make 4 generations of my family to have represented this club. My father, Keith Brooks following on from his father, John Brooks before. A proud moment for me this season 👍🏻
After an epic contest that lasted over 3 hours and 30 ends Tom just missed out on a place in the final. Well done to Jack Thomas of
@PontrhydyfenBC
and good luck in the final. Final score was 21-19 to Jack 👏👏👏👌👍🏻💪
The standard of play was absolutely superb 👍🏻
Tonight young member Tom Brooks is playing in the West Glamorgan County Under 16s singles semi-final. He's facing Jack Thomas from
@PontrhydyfenBC
.
Good luck to both players 👍🏻👍🏻
We've always had a great tradition of family members playing for our club, father and son Mark and Wyndham Clement are both photographed on the notice board sleeping on tour. We also have father and son
@amoscraig
and
@DanAmos97
playing currently

Green preparations under way, Vice chairman Jeff Jones strimming the bank, I'm weeding the ditches. 2 helpers getting some preseason practice in!
As a club we are responsible for maintaining the ditches and banks and watering the green. Swansea council maintain the green itself

Welsh government advice might soon allow some bowls along the English and Scottish models. Some members of our team telling me they could easily comply with the 2 metre social distancing rules now. I would agree, they weren't within 2 metres of the jack all last season.
First practice at our green. It had been rolled and cut low. Pace was OK and bowls were running smoothly. We will play on it for the rest of the season.
Morriston United home in the league Saturday, team announced tomorrow (Radio Wales, 12 noon). 21 available so 9 reserves!!
A titanic struggle, all came down to the last bowl of the game. 3 down in the game, Allan Slattery holding 2 shots, 3 to draw or 4 to win, then this............
Superb victory tonight over last years league 1 champions Coedgwilym.
Bonymaen 69 Coedgwilym 46, 11 points to 1.
