Frodo is such a compelling hero for a coming-of-age story because he shows how one can go forward even in the face of adversity, with heavy burdens. Who amongst us has not mourned the loss of their own innocence, their own Shire? The older I get the more I appreciate Frodo.

Noticed recently in my S1 rewatch of ROP: In Episode 4, when Galadriel was about to be sent away by Númenor, Nimloth's petals started to fall, and so the Númenoreans took it as a sign to let Galadriel stay. /1

If there’s one lesson I’ve learned deeply from reading Tolkien, it’s that nothing lasts forever; good and bad things will always come and go. And that’s not in itself a bad thing, if we can learn to accept & appreciate that. It makes the time we have all the more important. /1

Since the theme for today's #TolkienTrewsday is "Hobbits", here's a clip on the Harfoots in #TheRingsofPower I knew I was gonna love them once i saw this. Fun fact: The first Harfoot we see is played by Kiran Shah, who was the hobbits scale and stunt doubles in the LOTR films.

As someone who is a big fan of the Númenor story, I think it's important to say that this really isn't something that should divide the fandom. The studios have placed unnecessary constraints on episodes (8 per season) and length (under an hour) in an age of streaming. /1

So when one closes their mind to the show, they close themselves off from assessing/analyzing WHY the showrunners of TROP made the decisions they made. It’s a bit disingenuous because we all have our understandings of Tolkien. These guys just happened to get to make a show. /3
