Episode 39 - SDCC Trailer Breakdown
Two things that Twitter has made abundantly clear in the last month:
1. All AI art is dogshit
2. People really do not understand what is interesting about Wes Anderson's movies
What if Wes Anderson directed The Lord of the Rings? We asked the community which video they want to see next and Lord of the Rings took the cakeโฆ or should we say Elven bread. We hope you enjoy this Midjourney to Middle-Earth.

I loved everything about this scene, from the soaring music, to the way all the soldiers look at Galadriel as if she's stepped out of a legend, and the way the light shines off her hair and armour.
Absolute chills, every single time.
#TheRingsOfPower
One thing I don't think I've talked about enough is how impressive Daniel Weyman's performance as The Stranger has been.
All of his performance is told non-verbally and so much of it through his eyes. One of my standouts from this season.
#TheRingsOfPower
This scene between Elrond, Disa and Durin is one of those beautifully quiet moments that the show has excelled at so far.
You learn so much about these characters from just a few lines of dialogue.
#TheRingsOfPower
Only two episodes remaining and I'm fascinated by the fact we don't know who or where Sauron is yet.
This was always going to be a risky gamble for the show and I hope they stick the landing.
#TheRingsOfPower
I think the reason we saw The Mystics in a wraith-like form after The Stranger blasted them, is because as mortals who have used dark magic they've already touched the unseen world.
In a way they'd already begun the wraithing process.
#TheRingsOfPower
"He was as noble and as fair in face as an elf-lord, as strong as a warrior, as wise as a wizard, as venerable as a king of dwarves, and as kind as summer."
Robert Aramayo perfectly embodies Tolkien's description of Elrond.
#TheRingsOfPower
โNarya, Nenya, and Vilya, they were named, the Rings of Fire, and of Water, and of Air, set with ruby and adamant and sapphire; and of all the Elven-rings Sauron most desired to possess themโ

Charlie Vickers does a great job explaining the show's depiction of Sauron and his final scene with Galadriel, in this clip.
It's not my favourite choice the show made, but I can see what they were going for.
#TheRingsOfPower
I have just seen
#TheRingsOfPower
first two episodes... my phone battery is on 1%
But let me tell you this, I feel like the 7-year old me who saw Fellowship of the Ring in cinemas is jumping for joy.
We are truly back in Middle-earth.

SPOILERS
The show has had a lot of funny moments, but nothing made me laugh harder than Lenny Henry's deadpan delivery of this line.
Very relatable.
I think something that a lot of commentary about
#TheRingsOfPower
Season 1 misses, is that the point is not to 'work out who is Sauron'.
I think when you primarily view the show through that lens, you lose the enjoyment of actually taking in the story the show is trying to tell.
"It darkens the heart to call dark deeds "good." It gives place for evil to thrive inside us. Every war is fought both without and within. Of that, every soldier must be mindful."
Galadriel's character arc across Season 1 in a nutshell.
#TheRingsOfPower
This whole scene might be my favourite piece of dialogue in the whole show.
As I said on the podcast, Joseph Mawle deserves to be nominated for an award.

As a sword parkour fan, I was even more delighted with Galadriel's horse gymnastics swordplay!
For those who think this isn't realistic, go look up equestrian vaulting (it's wild) and then pair it with an Elf's enhanced athleticism.
Disa's 'Plea to the Rocks' scene might be in my Top 5 scenes so far in
#TheRingsOfPower
!
Sophia Nomvete commands the screen with her presence and incredible voice.
With everything that happened in the last two episodes, it's easy to forget we witnessed something unbelievable in Episode 6.
The eruption of Mount Doom in all its glory was really something else.
#TheRingsOfPower
Elrond, the orphaned boy who never had a homely house, will one day build a homely house for all the weary and oppressed of Middle-earth.
#TheRingsOfPower
"Wherefore seeing the smoke of Orodruin from afar, and perceiving that Sauron had returned, the Nรบmenรณreans named that mountain anew Amon Amarth, which is Mount Doom."

I love seeing these behind-the-scenes photos from
#TheRingsOfPower
The amount of effort that went into building these detailed practical sets is stunning. I really hope we get a full making-of documentary in a similar style to the LOTR films appendices.
"Look, we don't slay dragons. Not much for diggin' jewels. But there's one thing we can do I warrant, better than any creature in all Middle-earth. We stay true to each other."
Couldn't help but think of Bilbo's courage and kindness, listening to Largo's speech.
#TheRingsOfPower
It's time for a Sadoc Burrows appreciation post.
Lenny Henry brought such warmth and wisdom to this character, and I'm only sorry we didn't get more time with him.
"Saddoc Burrows, we wait for you."
#TheRingsOfPower
I always try to stay away from negativity and drama, but I'll just say this:
If you like the show, that's great. If you don't like it, that's fine.
What isn't okay is berating people with different views and trying to convince them their opinion is wrong.
#TheRingsOfPower
This moment between Arondir and Theo was so touching, and a testament to how quickly the show has made me fall in love with these original chaaracters.
#TheRingsOfPower
I'm now home, so I want to give you my spoiler-free thoughts on
#TheRingsOfPower
premiere.
Nothing on TV, now or before, compares to this show visually. That's not a dig at other shows, but I saw this in IMAX and it looked better than many modern blockbusters. /1
"Galadriel, the only woman of the Noldor to stand that day tall and valiant among the contending princes, was eager to be gone [...] for she yearned to see the wide unguarded lands and to rule there a realm at her own will."

"Tolkien would be turning in his grave about The Rings of Power"
No you utter dipshits. Tolkien would be turning in his grave at the thought of soulless AI art. The literal machine seeking to replace the beauty of human sub-creation.

SPOILERS
Ismael Cruz Cรณrdova has done such a magnificent job over just a few episodes of portraying Arondir's connection to nature.
The absolute heartache is etched on his face before he says: "รnin apsene" (Forgive me)
Celebrimbor's story about Morgoth and the Silmarils was so captivating, I forgot this wasn't an actual tale from the books.
Well done to the writing team for crafting something that feels so Tolkienian and Charles Edwards for his outstanding delivery.

"We read fantasy to find the colors again, I think. To taste strong spices and hear the songs the sirens sang. There is something old and true in fantasy that speaks to something deep within us."

In 46 days, we will return to Middle-earth and marvel at the sights of Lindon, Khazad-dรปm, Nรบmenor and even delight in a brief glimpse of Valinor.
#TheRingsOfPower
I really can't overstate how powerful Morfydd's performance is in these two episodes of
#TheRingsOfPower
You see Galadriel go through the full range of emotions and Morfydd hits every beat with precision.
โDo not be too sad, Sam. You cannot be always torn in two. You will have to be one and whole, for many years. You have so much to enjoy and to be, and to do.โ
Galadriel and Adar's conversation from Episode 6 remains one of the best scenes in the show for exploring the themes of Tolkien's legendarium.

I thought the use of title-cards for key locations, combined with the use of maps to show journeys was a delightful touch.
I'm sure this will be incredibly appreciated by viewers less-familiar with these locations!
โDangerous!โ cried Gandalf. โAnd so am I, very dangerous: more dangerous than anything you will ever meet, unless you are brought alive before the seat of the Dark Lord.โ
~ LOTR, Book 3: The White Rider
An interesting parallel to The Stranger in that quote.
#TheRingsOfPower
What impressed me the most about the Sauron reveal, was the way Charlie Vickers changed the character's whole presence through small shifts in posture, facial expression and even the timbre of his voice.
Outstanding acting in this scene alongside Morfydd.
#TheRingsOfPower
โIn the likeness of Men they appeared, old but vigorous, and they changed little with the years, and aged but slowly, though great cares lay on them; great wisdom they had, and many powers of mind and hand.โ

SPOILERS
Love that Gil-galad apparently just takes Aeglos along when he goes outside the capital. You never know when you're going to need a sharp object to remind people who is in charge.
May makes a good argument, but I personally love the shot of Halbrand's eye with both Mount Doom and the iconic Eye of Sauron blended together. Just a brilliant visual for the season's last scene.
"All my work is full of trees. I suppose I have actually in some simple-minded form of longing; I should have liked to be able to make contact with the tree and find out what it feels about things."
~ J.R.R. Tolkien

"I never called Edith Lรบthien โ but she was the source of the story [..] In those days her hair was raven, her skin clear, her eyes brighter than you have seen them, and she could sing โ and dance."
~J. R. R. Tolkien, Letter 340
"Angrod is gone, and Aegnor is gone, and Felagund is no more. Of Finarfin's children I am the last. But my heart is still proud. What wrong did the golden house of Finarfin do that I should ask the pardon of the Valar"
~ Unfinished Tales
#TheRingsOfPower
I'd be fascinated to know if the show added any VFX for Sauron's Finrod vision. You can tell they used hair and makeup to give the 'slightly off' look, but I suspect there's digital wizardry at play too.
#TheRingsOfPower
Going to make a little prediction for the finale, because why not.
This shot is going to be the first time we see Celebrimbor talk to Annatar.
#TheRingsOfPower
It seems the trolls are having a resurgence after Episode 7. For anyone else dealing with them, remember the best approach is to just ignore and block them.
I do pity these people who make hating something their whole online persona, but arguing with them never helps.
Why did no one tell Eรคrien the golden rules of being the main character in your own horror film:
Never go up the hidden stairs, never touch the mysterious object!
This is not going to end well ๐จ
#TheRingsOfPower
I can't decide which of Galadriel's outfits this season was my favourite. Looking foward to seeing the costume design continue to evolve in Season 2.
