I will never shut up about COVID. I will never shut up about Palestine. In both cases, the US political establishment (both Democrats and Republicans) made calculated decisions about which lives they believe are expendable. And it’s disgusting.

Was talking to a family member this weekend who brought up COVID, and I mentioned how people who had mild or no symptoms can still develop blood clots months later. He laughed? And then later in the conversation said "I know you were just joking about that." But I...wasn't?

The pandemic has revealed that many people shouldn't be married, and most people shouldn't be parents. It's incredibly sickening to read about people weighing their loved ones lives against, like, having a meal in a restaurant.

"Lockdown" is revisionist history. It was a "shelter in place," and no one was actually locked in their homes. I remember driving to the grocery store and seeing people dining out on restaurant patios (I guess they didn't get the memo). There was nothing close to a lockdown.

This feels disingenuous. Conscientious people are more likely to avoid others if they have symptoms, so asymptomatic cases are especially critical to catch via testing. So if the tests don't catch asymptomatic cases in which people are still infectious... the tests don't work.

Rapid tests still work for new variants as most target a part of the coronavirus (nucleocapsid protein) that doesn't mutate as much. But rapid tests aren't as sensitive as PCRs so aren't catching asymptomatic cases with lower viral load (though you can still spread COVID).
