Were seaway transgressions and regressions responsible for the major branching events within the Chasmosaurs of the late Cretaceous?

From what I was told by the discoverer -Jose Lopez Espinosa-, the head and scapula were under the tail. The crest was at first mistaken for the pubis because of its shape.
How can we interpret this cladogram with a paraphyletic genus?
The cladogenetic hypothesis requires many more assumptions to be the most parsimonious explanation. The anagenetic hypothesis requires fewer assumptions, and fits much better with the current evidence we have. (3/4)

We made this figure to disseminate with the public what our hypothesis is about. Anagenesis (or phyletic evolution) is the evolution from one species to another without branching/splitting events. Only ancestor descendant relationships. (1/4)

Nunca lo fue! Una revisión de la litología y geología de su localidad revela que es de la formación Cerro Huerta del Maastrichtiano temprano. Esta formación superposiciona al Cerro de Pueblo. Es decir, Coahuilaceratops nunca vivió con Velafrons y compañía.
An anagenetic lineage will be represented as a paraphyletic group (successive steps along a tree, as seen in Daspletosaurus) within a phylogeny. A phylogenetic analysis is unable to produce ancestor and descendant relationships as it only produces cladogenetic hypotheses. (2/4)

How does the head end up under the tail? How does the scapula end up under the tail? How does the tail stay articulated? Where are the ossified tendons? So many questions…

I’ve always been told 12 cervicals with around 15 to 18 dorsals, with high variance in sacrals. 🙂
Since we don’t have a complete vertebral sequence for any of these taxa (Velafrons, Magnapaulia, etc), I wouldn’t know for certain.
Thanks for bringing that up though.
Un linaje anagenético será representado como un grupo parafilético (escalones sucesivos a lo largo de un árbol) dentro de una filogenia. Un análisis filogenético no puede producir relaciones de ancestros y descendientes ya que solo produce hipótesis cladogenéticas. (2/4)

Ornithomimosaurs are easily differentiated on the basis of manual and pedal material, especially the metatarsals. Which is most of the material this guy is made up from. 😁

However, regarding other theropods from Baja California. I know of none published.

We think that CMN 8800 is a representative of the Pentaceratops lineage.
