Municipalities need to enact ordinances that make big box retailers create shade for their parking lots. Surface parking lots are destructive in a lot of ways, but the way they generate heat on a sunny day is particularly awful.

@the_transit_guy St Louis has great residential architecture that combines italianate, second empire, and Victorian styles. The houses here are clad with limestone, but as you go down the value scale the form stays the same but they’re built with brick instead. There are miles and miles of these.
