When I was a kid, it wasn’t safe to be soft. So, for a long time I wasn’t. Mates is the first intentionally soft thing I ever wrote & it’s become the place I exercise my hope. It’s given me so much. But maybe most of all, it’s made me brave enough to have a spine made of flowers.
