One major criticism I have of Gil Hanse's work at Baltusrol (Lower) is the yardage added to No. 17: You have a Tillinghast template with a bunker often referred to as "Hell's Half Acre" and you stretch it to 667 yards? That is obviously one yard too many, sir.

I've honestly forgotten whether this has come up yet...based on a job advertisement at TurfNet, Andrew Green is contracted to implement a master plan at the Elkridge Club, a lesser-known Raynor near Baltimore.

The Double Eagle GC grounds crew has been posting photos of some "restoration" work, which is interesting A) that the grounds crew at Double Eagle, a notoriously private club, has an Instagram and B) its bunkering makes for nice, abstract album art.

Escalante has expressed interest in adding a large plot next to Kingsley Club, its holding, for purpose of adding a range, new clubhouse, and residences. There's no indication the residences would impose on the course itself, but potentially more "summering" members.

Tom Doak shared an aerial of his Childress contribution. Look at the hole center-right…what an intriguing little par four, potentially drivable and *potentially* obscured view from the tee(?). He noted it returns to near the first tee box. Would be a cool hole to watch others on

I'm sure it's been published elsewhere already, but in case it hasn't: Fort Worth Magazine featured a graphic of Gil Hanse's plans for Colonial Country Club. If you take the article literally, the work will begin same day as the Charles Schwab concludes, a la Muirfield Village.

I dislike the cliche of saying “today’s going to be a good day” and posting a photo of whatever course. I never cried telling my Dad about entering a golf club. Here’s what good days look like and I hope everyone who wants the opportunity to play it gets the opportunity to do so.

Sure, YOU may prefer @DJPie ‘s Pine Valley deep dive or whatever @coynewriter wrote about this time in the new issue of The Golfers Journal. But ask your kids what THEIR favorite article was. I’m growing the NEXT GENERATION of golf over here.

More Cabot Citrus Farms thoughts. I appreciate that the final answers weren't the names we've come to assume from a Keiser and/or Cabot development. For example, Kyle Franz is an obvious choice based on the terrain at Mid Pines / Pine Needles.

You've all been looking for big news regarding public golf on the Florida panhandle and here it is: Eglin Air Force Base is opening its golf course to the public this August; its Eagle course is one of William Langford's four Florida designs.

Folks at @GolfersJournal don't want me to get work done today, so they asked "What was the best hole that you played this year." Upon some reflection on a good year, I was surprised to arrive at the answer of "No. 2 at The Golf Club." (1/3)

Charleston papers reporting a new golf club, designed by Beau Welling, will be incorporated into a real estate development on St. Johns Island somewhere within the area highlighted here. It will serve as a third option for members of The Kiawah Island Club.

This is not a surprise per se, as there were reports late last week, but Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia will be named soon as the official host of the 2024 Solheim Cup, per reports from a member.

Got a note from a Providence pal that the Tree House Brewing Company is buying the Tewskbury CC and will keep its nine-hole golf course in operation, another addition to the distillery/brewery golf combo list. No course updates planned yet but we'll see.

I'm thrilled to hear the Sand Valley Lido will be a semi-private...until this morning the barometer seemed to be pointing to totally private. Yes it will be difficult to get a time, but probably no more difficult than St. Andrews. And financially, probably easier than Pebble.
