Regarding the ring on the Beachy Head Pallid "Ringed June 2018 as a chick at Tyrnävä (Finland, close to Oulu) by Ari-Pekka Auvinen. He has ringed most of the Pallid Harriers in Finland. And this should be a pure Pallid". Thanks to @jrmjones for the liaise @SussexBirding

Two very fortunate and enjoyable finds today on St Agnes. Greenish Warbler in Island Fields followed by a Red throated Pipit which dropped on to Periglis beach shortly after announcing it's presence amongst a small flock of incoming Meadow Pipit. Wallop!

My Beachy Head bird of 2019. Undoubtably this Finnish ringed Pallid Harrier found on 17th Sept, only two days after a Montagu’s Harrier had departed the site. A 2CY female in a plumage I hadn’t anticipated encountering here.

For me this is the same as an oil spill - man made. A disease propagated from within poultry farming and spread around the globe by the natural movements of wild birds. Driven by an expectation of plentiful, cheap meat, produced under appalling conditions.

Beachy Head: The only shelter to be had from the high winds was in the wood, which held a couple of Chiffchaff and a Firecrest. A Woodcock flew past me and into the scrub below the lighthouse, a bird I encounter barely annually on the headland. @SussexBirding

Lists... why are birdwatchers obsessive list makers? Does it matter, it's just a number, ultimately meaningless. I'm all in on the experiences of finding, watching some amazing birds somewhere incredible, or just looking at a Kingfisher but lists seem like missing the point.
