For the third year in a row. Mark Stone is ready to play game 1 of the playoffs, after being injured since the trading deadline and out, allowing Vegas to spend his cap hit elsewhere.
I don't care if you disagree or not, but a large portion of the Nazem Kadri hate is racially motivated. It is. The mass dunkings just happens way easier if you stand out in a white sport. Six suspensions in almost 800 games doesn't stand out.
Evander Kane were actively trying to hurt someone at the end of game 2 when the game was lost. Then he takes out Kadri for the series ONE MINUTE into game 3 with a predatory play. These are the type of hockey players the game needs to get rid off.
Nazem Kadriโs wife shares what their family has endured for the past 48 hours through the Jazzy Kadri Instagram account.
These racist attacks are sickening.
I know I can sound like a broken record on this, but Jared Bednar deserves a lot more credit than he gets. People say the roster is amazing, but a good portion of it was players who were considered washed up or bad gets (rightly or wrongly) that are now flying under Bednar.
NHLโs Bill Daly on alleged threats towards Nazem Kadri. โWe take threats made to any of our Players or other Club personnel seriously. ย We are in touch with St. Louis Police Department and they are employing enhanced security procedures both at the arena and in the hotelโ.
Georgiev cost them game 1. Plain and simple.
The skaters really came out flying and with normal goaltending Avs are up by two or three after the first.
I know Jost is super popular but some of you are going after Joe Sakic with pretty hard words here. You do know who he is and what he has done for the Colorado Avalanche right?
I'll say it again. And people will call me soft again. But there is no reason for players to take off the cage/full shield when they turn pro. Grand father it in like you did with helmets and later visors.
First of all, this took more than a year to decide?
Second of all, it's incredible the league takes these stuff so seriously but Blackhawks suffered no repercussions what so ever for their Kyle Beach cover up.
The dream clinching Stanley Cup for me? OT. Landeskog carries the puck into the zone on his LW, rounds net, finds Erik Johnson jumping up into the play and one times it into the net.
The two longest tenured Avs players bringing it home.
Absolutely insane that the Blues went this far, the fans and not the team you might say. The comments from Berube and Bortuzzo causes this, and the actions of Binnington.
Darren Helm takes a shot from Pat Maroon at the buzzer and looked like his teammates was gonna engange but Helm kinda told everyone to let it go. Focus on hockey.
@domluszczyszyn
Ever since that Vegas fan tweeted "Nobody understands the pain of being a Vegas Golden Knights fan" after last season I desperately want them to feel real pain.
Itโs really hard to think about sports on a day like this. Despite it being a potentially cup clinching game for the Avs. Itโs like a natural disaster happening the same day, except this one being man made.
Landeskog says he has no problem with Ekholm, he likes him, but he was going after the teams best player and "I can't allow that".
Gabe also says he would have done the same for Ekholm if it happened on Team Sweden. But tonight he was an Av, and Ekholm a Pred.
When I was a kid this commercial was on TV. Mikael Renberg and Tomas Sandstrรถm are competing in who has had the most and worst injuries.
When Bรถrje Salming enters, they know they wont win.
Even if this generation of Avs players don't win a cup, I'm gonna look back on these seasons of back to back President's Trophies etc with a smile. You gotta enjoy the ride too, even if you don't get the story book ending.
Reporter: How frustrating is it, being in Landeskog situation, having the ability to help the team during a contending window and not being able to due to injury?
Peter Forsberg: On a scale of 1-10 I would say 11.
I actually donโt want us to sign Kadri, it makes much more sense to spend that money on the refs which doesnโt count towards the cap and has a good on ice impact
Avs fans really aren't used to losing anymore. You lose a one goal game on a wednesday night with half the lineup on IR and feel the need to draw big conclusions from it. It's hockey, and the season is 82 games. We are gonne lose some nights. Probably around 30 games.
Well, 6.125M for 8 years certainly doesn't look like a problem right now.
Nichushkin with a start to the season that he has never shown before. 6 games, 6 goals and 5 assists.
Same thing happened to PK Subban getting booed or trashed on social media constantly. The excuse was always that he had played dirty before or whatever. The mass dunkings afterwards just gets way, way more harsh than for others.
The last time Avs lost a game in the first round was when Kuemper stole one for Arizona in the bubble in 2020.
The last time Avs lost a game at home in the first round was in april 2018.
We are spoiled as fuck.
Friedman on Nichushkin: There is belief Colorado will try to find a way to keep him. Someone said that to me this morning, don't assume that guy is leaving.
Wouldnโt it be smarter to use the cap space to acquire bad contracts in exchange for valuable pieces in order to reach the cap floor instead of signing their own crappy players to ridiculous prices driving up the market for themselves and everyone else?
Jason Dickinson, signed to a 2x$4.25M extension by CHI, is a defensive bottom six centre who went on a shooting tear at just the right time. Good for him.
#Blackhawks
More than half the season is now played and Avs are in 3rd place out of 32 teams, and there has been a lot of criticism and question marks raised about the Avs. Sometimes it might be a good idea to stop and think if the expectations we have on this team are fair.
This was such a botch job by
@NHLPlayerSafety
with or without injury to Cogliano. This case clearly shows how flawed their reasoning and philosophy is. This is a big scandal and I wouldn't mind the Avs captain calling for George Parros to resign.
Honestly
@DPostSports
. Itโs time for you for you to invest in a new generation of writers. This dude has been bad for your brand for over a decade.
@denverpost
Kiszla | "Is his job as coach of the Avalanche nothing more than to look as handsome as Ken doll on the team bench? Or should Jared Bednar be held responsible for Colorado being asleep at the wheel?"
When teams like Tampa and Avs have a killer PP, the refs get more hesistant off giving them a PP, cause it holds more "value".
And that is fucking bullshit.
Manson had an awful night individually but it's not coincidence that whoever Jack Johnson plays with, gets worse. Individually Jack looks OK but I think Ryan Murray would do much less overall damage to the defense core.
Teams be like: We are actually matching up quite well against the best team in hockey.
Well...
Colorado Scratches: Bowen Byram, Ryan Murray, Samuel Girard, Nazem Kadri, Gabriel Landeskog
Teams be like: Uh, yeah..
Chris Johnston speculates that Avs is the most logical destination for Elias Lindholm.
When it comes to price he speculates a 1st round pick and Bowen Byram should do it. There is also talk Lindholm turned down 9M extension on a 7-8 year deal this summer.
With Evander Kane being on the Oilers.
Once again, the hockey world and any decent human being that isn't an Oilers fan, is rooting for the Colorado Avalanche.
Erik Johnson told the Atheltic he wants to play "a lot longer". Lets hope he signs an extension after this year at something insanely team friendly. Like league minimum. I could totally see it happening.
It took 37 games.
But Avs are about to win a game when they weren't the better team but the goaltender turned what should have been zero points into two points.
Avs have signed a few contracts the last few years that havenโt felt so team friendly. But this one certainly is in my opinion.
Toews would be a
#1
on many, many teams. A top 10 D in the league for 7.25M is a no brainer.
Given his skill set, I bet he will age gracefully.
Two very solid games by the Avs in Winnipeg. Should be up 2-0 in the series. But I'll take 1-1 and now having home ice advantage.
Hugely important bounce back game for Georgiev. Did skaters help him more? Jets actually has a higher xG today than in game 1.
