I took the train to the border crossing between 🇱🇦 & 🇨🇳. Luang Namtha province has plans for #tourism & #trade in agricultural produce. 🇦🇺 is supporting economic integration & human resource development to help Laos benefit from its location in the middle of a dynamic region.

👏Congratulations Laos on rolling out more than 11 million COVID-19 vaccine doses over the last year. In addition to support for COVAX, Australia has delivered over one million vaccine doses and provided technical assistance to ensure equitable vaccine access across Laos.

Much needed second batch of #COVAX #COVID19 vaccines arrived in Laos. Over 100,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine will be available for people over 60 years old, and people with underlying health conditions. Australia has committed $80million to the COVAX initiative. @UNICEFLaos

And we had a couple of special visitors - 🇻🇳 PM Chinh and 🇱🇦 Deputy PM Saleumxay - dropped by our exhibition booth to hear how 🇦🇺 has been assisting protection of fish stocks through measures including 'fish passes' that allow fish to travel up & down waterways unrestricted.

🇱🇦Luang Namtha Province borders China’s Yunnan Province. Boten is the northernmost stop in Laos on the railway & there is plenty of ambition for this strategic location. Grateful to receive briefings from the Boten Industrial Zone & from 🇨🇷Amata Group on their development plans.
