Andre 3000 is gonna be the introduction to instrumental music for a lot of cats from kids to old heads and at the same time these people will be out of the 3:30min pop music format for a sec at least. That's crazy if you think about it...
Music coming featuring some ill emcees (off the top of my head):
Vic Spencer
Kincee
Ankhlejohn
YUNGMORPHEUS
Blu
Mach Hommy
Sleep Sinatra
Fly Anakin
lojii
Wombaticus Rex
Jay Nice
Tokyo Cigar
Blaq Kush
Sadhugold
Armand Hammer
Black Thought
Denmark Vessey
JpegMafia
Iceberg Theory
Kendrick is insane, he really figured out amongst all that to fit in the "I hate his face" energy from DMX. That's the raw visceral response to this Drake character that I been on since 09 since I heard this dude." By all means get him the fuck out the paint...
"The Big Three" narrative makes me want to vomit. I see and don't see how cats can "like" Drake, or how younger millennials and gen-z youth relate to Cole, buy as far as rapping/emceeing Kendrick is a country mile ahead of these dudes. Shit ain't even close.
Ish from Digable Planets name is never brought up among elite emcees and thats a shame. From his work w/ Digable to his Shabazz Palaces output dude outraps most cats easily...
Found an Alchemist x Earl ep on soulseek called 4 My Dawgs... Don't know anything about these songs. One friend said he's heard one or two before. Shit is mad ill wherever it came from or whoever compiled it...
Just caught the Fantano review of the new Armand Hammer. Wrote a long thread, but decided to keep it short. He gave the album a 9, but said he didn't know what they were talking about, while also saying they covered familiar ground. Armand Hammer is the elephant in the room.
Really dig this record. Jean & Quelle really sublimated all the anger, frustration, fear, anxiety, and angst about this day n age from a gen x perspective...
Listened to Shabazz Palaces - Black Up album 3 times in a row today. Ish is an incredible rapper man, unbelievable. "Free Press and Curl" and "Yeah You" and the joint Sweatshirt name checks the hook from are out of this world...
Kool Keith is an American treasure. Was listening to Matthew and Sex Style 2 days ago and checked out Dr. Octagon yesterday. My favorite is still Lost Masters 2. That shit right there is electric...
Another minority take, but Labcabincalifornia is better than Bizarre Ride...
...and in general should be lauded more, not more than Bizarre, but just as one of the best albums to come out the 90s. I just don't see it getting it's props like it should...
Sampling is also: Found object art.
Sampling is also: Collage
Sampling is also: Remix Culture
Sampling is also: Archaeology
Samples are: Fossils
Fossils are what Paleontologists [dig] for so sampling is [cultural] paleontology.
Thank me later.
For the culture...
Where did these pro sample snitch cats come from? They need to immerse themselves in the culture a lot more cause they missin hella lessons...
I feel like its a young millennial and generation z thing. Also social media culture has something to do with it.
Album should be spoken of more often. Muggs always ahead of the curve and right on time all at once. GZA was in rare form. I listened to this so much when it hit the net...
Ka's "I Love (Mimi, Moms, Kev)" is a beautiful song, but so is "Sins Of The Father" with Roc. Also I think those are two of the best beats on the album. I like "Old Justice" too tho
Descendants of Cain is the album.
This is dope! Check for the album. I produced "Smile Lines" from the project. "Smile Lines" was picked up by Thom Yorke for his mix show a few weeks ago...
ELUCID is one of the best emcees doing it right now.
My girl mentioned how she remembered at the Ka pop-up Ka thanked everyone in the "listening community" instead of using the term "fan." I rarely use the term fan myself cause its taken on a nasty connotation as I've grown older. I really like the idea of a "listening commuinty."
Earl is such a poet. This new album is soundin nice...
At first I wasn't feelin the trap-type tracks but some of those really hit. Beautiful compact album with a lot to dig into...
Along w/ Roc Marci I feel like Quelle Chris's 2010s run is bullet proof. Love all his albums and beat tapes. I think I still go back to Shotgun & Sleek Rifle, the Dibiase tape and Being You Is Great, but all the albums are dope as fuck. Dig in...
You know an album that never came to be that I would love to hear is the soundtrack for the Blade Runner sequel that El-P turned in that was rejected.
I'd just love to hear how El-P would score something like that...
Sampling and music appreciation. I cringe at how many dope albums I just skipped thru when I first started making beats cause I was so focused on trying to make a beat and not sittin' back and enjoying listening to wonderful (often underappreciated), music.
ODB's first album is a classic.
Ol Dirty was funny as hell and had mad quotables. RZA did his thing on the production tip. The album is beautifully sequenced too. When this came out I was still getting adjusted to Texas. All the brothas at school we're feelin' this album...
I feel the same way about Drake's music today as when I first heard him in 09'. I was 28/29 then and I thought "this is for teenage girls and new Hip-Hop fans." His whole trajectory on some Bow Wow/Kris Kross on steroids shit.
Yo, this dude left me a dm the other day congratulating me on the release, then left me two more messages today and his last message was "peace its cool I get it. lol" There's people I've known for 30 yrs that it might take a week to respond to...
No one talks about woods's hustlin' bars or am I livin' under a rock? I was thinkin about this a lil earlier today and then I ran back We Buy Diabetic Test Strips and there was another one (don't remember the track). Real street shit he be droppin' and has been for a minute...
I remember one of ex's said she didn't feel Stevie Wonder like that. Shit still bothers me. I just shake my head...
You don't feel Stevie fuckin' Wonder???!!!!!??!?!?!??
NX WORRIES
TY FARRIS
KAYTRANADA
RJD2
AUGUST FANON X ILL-Sugi
and I still need to give the Shrapknel lp a good listen.
+ everyone else I'm missin'. Still dissecting this Cavalier and Mach too. I should be getting atleast a passive stream of income for all this music I listen too.
Just cracked this open, forgot I copped for my lady a few months back. The first thing Mao said was get off your ass cause your morals and knowledge are nothing without your body!!! Hit like a ton of bricks.
Was walkin down Nostrand listening to billy woods x Kenny Segal's Maps and right as I stepped into the grocery store woods said some real personal shit about watching his kid play and his own mortality and everything slowed down real quick for a sec cause it made me think...
Was at the Roc Marciano show about a month ago in Brooklyn. Roc tore that shit down. First time seeing him live, I was trippin. Really great experience...
Ran thru The Elephant Man's Bones for good measure today. Roc is an amazing lyricist. For me I had taken in such high doses of his his first 5 projects or so I feel like his latter work is just starting to really resonate with me.
Just finished my 2nd listen of the Armand Hammer White Label album. My beats on there are crazy and they made some dope songs, but towards the end of that album woods and Elucid are just in a zone I feel. Top tier rhyming!!! Great album overall.
billy woods x Preservation is hardbody. Since I've had it I've been unable to get an undisturbed complete listen and I'm on my 6 or 7th attempt. Just taking it all in in small gulps at this point.
When I do get into man is it incredible. The artwork fits the album perfectly too.
@msolurin
Pains me deeply as well. Beyond just having our history suppressed here in America I believe there are active forces pushing these divisive narratives in a coordinated fashion. We will find out about it all in another decade. It really makes me sick to see us fall for it tho...
"World gettin'warmer, we're goin the other way." Billy Woods on the first track of Terror Management. His social commentary is always so poignant. Just now getting into Church with Messiah Musik...
Roc said something about cats comparing M.J. to Weird Al Yankovich...
That shit made me smile. It's real talk. They also be saying Beyonce and Chris Brown are better than Mike Jack... Shit is sickening when you really think about it.
The Elephant Man's Bones is a tough album...
Thanks bro!!!
Some of the others include Westside Gunn, Navy Blue, ANKLEJOHN, YUNGMORPHEUS, Iceberg Theory, Fly Anakin, Koncept Jackson, Kincee, CRIMEAPPLE, Shrapnel, AKAI SOLO etc...
More surprises to come
Kenny Segal choose some of my favorite breaks on Maps...
Shit was crazy cause I'm like I fuck with that, and then the next track I'm like I fuck with that one too!!!

Listening to Mac Miller Faces album off the strength of a recommendation from a trusted source. I think I've tried to listen to Mac before, but I'm fin to give him my undivided for a while and see if this shit sticks.
This cat in Rollingstone said I had a kazoo in a song that was making AKAI SOLO'S voice inaudible. These cats are jokes. I'll just say that. On the other hand I get a lot of great press coverage from lesser known entities that are a lot more tapped in and just flat out care...
I don't which woods album I'm feelin' more, Aethiopes w/ Preservation or Hiding Places w/ Kenny Segal. The moods created on those albums are indescribable. Hope I spelled that right. lol
