The
@sandiegowavefc
got back to me about accessibility and my concerns as a disabled neurodivergent person with a service dog. As a reminder, I’m a big fan of the Wave and so going to soccer games means a lot to me. Sports are for everyone. 1/🧵
My doctor told today that fibromyalgia doesn’t qualify me for a disabled parking placard. Even tho I still use a cane some days due to pain. I just...is this an everywhere thing or just another way Kaiser is fucking me over?

When I said this on Facebook to friends, they lost their damn minds. People really hate when you call out their disordered eating. I mean diet. I mean fad. I mean disordered eating.
As an advocate for neurodiversity & disability justice, I look forward to seeing my home team make these adjustments. I’m grateful for their careful consideration & thoughtful response. Someone told me one person can’t make change and that’s not true.

I love the
@sandiegowavefc
I really do. But the fireworks and light shows are horrible. I’m shaking. My service dog was shaking, and she is incredibly well trained. This is inaccessible.

Not to be messy but this happened in the official Wave FC (managed by the club itself) Facebook group. Uhm. This feels…like an uncomfortable thing to ask. Post approvals and the comments are off. This gives me big ick.

My neck feels...weak. Like the muscles hurt and lots of pain but also like my head is too heavy for my neck. I have fibro but also other weird undiagnosed stuff so just looking for...friendship in suffering?

Hi
@vons
we need to have a chat about one of your managers at the store by my house. She consistently has attempted to distract and touch my service dog. I have told her to stop, only to receive an eye roll or criticism for not allowing pets. This is ableist as hell.
our in-game entertainment to specific matches during the season. Moving forward we will ensure that fans are made aware of these sensory triggers during the match with multiple PA Announcements and graphics.4/🧵
“After carefully reviewing your feedback and considering the impact on all fans visiting Snapdragon Stadium, we have taken the following steps to continue to improve the Wave matches:
•Elimination of surprise elements: We have limited fireworks and light displays for 3/🧵
I had reached out about fireworks and light shows, as they are not inclusive celebrations for many people. Here is how things are going to be changed as communicated to me by the
@sandiegowavefc

Silencing people is actually a classic tool for abuse, workplace or otherwise. If people can’t talk about it, they can’t feel unity in what’s happened. It keeps status quo. Hmm. This adds to the conversation about a toxic environment for sure.
Not to brag but I had to poop really urgently and was able to get out of the body suit I decided to wear today JUST IN TIME. No pooped pants TODAY ✨✨✨✨✨
#NEISvoid
Enhanced communication: we have updated our pre-game safety reads and graphics to include the locations of sensory rooms within the stadium. This information will be readily available to fans, enabling them to access designated spaces for sensory relief as needed. 6/🧵
I met another fan in line to get my face painted. Her kid had been recently diagnosed with seizures and tics. You know what can trigger episodes? Light shows with flashing lights and fireworks.

•Limited use of firework displays: We are in the process of completing our fireworks and pyrotechnics plan for the remainder of the season and as of now, large firework displays will be utilized during our final two remaining full bowl matches (Aug. 24, Nov. 3) 7/🧵
I’m now having to mitigate my panic attack and symptoms from the opener and also have my spouse care for my service dog. It’s so so inaccessible.

and any playoff events. By moving these to specific matches, we aim to minimize their impact on individuals.
•Providing exact timing: we understand the importance of providing advance notice for sensory-triggering moments during the pre-match experience. 8/🧵
As such, we will include exact timing for these occurrences in our announcements through our public announcements, allowing fans to prepare accordingly and make informed decisions.

Worked on some sports accessibility stuff today with the Wave. Hopeful that things continue to be better in the

but grateful altogether that the

let me info-dump about disability and accessibility.

This is unacceptable. Talk of people and culture in the midst of a toxic workplace? Sigh. As someone who was in a toxic workplace and struggling due to bullying, I believe you and stand with you.
I like shopping at my local
@vons
but my service dog is my medical equipment. And if your MANAGERS think it is okay to try and distract my SD, then how am I supposed to feel safe at your locations?
Watching
@netflix
put Shayne, from Love is Blind and Perfect Match, on these shows where he gets bullied for stimming (rocking back and forth, rubbing his hands, touching his clothes) is really hard as a neurodivergent person.

THIS! I was told once that they reduce or prevent sag. I went from never wearing one to always. Now I’m in a middle ground with sometimes and mostly sports bras because everything else hurts in more ways than one.
This girl heals so much. I had to call out of work today (I have a very kind boss) because I had several painful flares last night. Now I am being nursed by my four legged pal.

Profoundly is another way to categorize autism & sub-type people. Asperger’s was another way to categorize low support autistics. It was tied to the “you’re not as bad as the other autistics”.Low support, high support, support needed with XYZ is better usually. In my experience🤷🏻♀️
I feel so shit today. Nauseas. Dizzy on and off. Tummy ache. Bad bowels. Cramps. Fatigued. Lots of gagging and no appetite. 🥲 anyone else suffering today and want to commiserate? Or maybe you’re not and have the spoons to comfort?

Fuck my startle response is so so bad. We have a nice cleaning man at work and he wipes down the door handles because Covid. He just said good morning to me and my heart rate jumped and I almost screamed.

Hi friends. If a character in a play was autistic, an autistic actor should play that character…right? Please share thoughts about the idea of someone with ASD not playing this character.

Sending a follow up email to an accommodation request is....so not fun. Why do I get the pleasure of panicking about whether or not I can function as a disabled person at my work? Because the onus is always on the person needing the accommodation.

Such grace and wisdom in a time that must be so difficult for you, as I know it has been hard to accept for us as fans. You’re amazing, Stoney. I can’t wait to see what you do from here and will miss you being our head coach.

Unknown caller calls? Nope. Any friend calls? If I’m awake, I’ll answer. Surprisingly not averse to spending the spoon for those I love. But it takes a spoon.
I do not have the spoons to do the MCAS 24 hour pee test. The allergist won’t give me another test option until I do this 24 hour per collection. I...feel stuck. Help.

I spoke to the geneticist yesterday. He said I have HSD. Which apparently is just hEDS jr. so I’m a zebra now? Next we do a bone density scan, I see an allergist because eating should not cause a rash or diarrhea or my throat to close. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Today I did my first work as a disability consultant for marketing as an independent contractor. I’m so proud of myself. I’m happy. I’m just 😍

I know I’m not the first person to write this out to you. I know I’m not the first team to mention the desperate need for training, especially when it comes to service dogs. I know this. Yet here I am, writing you a Twitter thread about me and my service dog. 1/?
How do you ethically run a theatre non profit when you have $600 in the bank for the company? What do we do? How do we pivot? How do we make work or facilitate? I’m at the end of my rope with ideas and the world is on fucking fire.
