Which of you would not leave the 99 tabs to go find the 1 tab which is playing sound. And having found the one, he returns to his friends & says, rejoice with me, for I have found the one which was playing an Ad & have closed it.
Jesus told her, “Go, close the tab you are using.”
“I am using no tabs,” she replied.
Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you are using no tabs. The fact is, you have had 56 tabs open, and the one you now have open you are not using.”

Wow, he wasn't messing around, getting you a toddler. They are super inconvenient. It is convenient that you have a cool toy giraffe to keep the toddler momentarily transfixed.
We're living in Babylon
This is why I don't get upset when a pagan government doesn't understand & sympathize w/my faith
The natural man does not understand things of the Spirit
We'd save time, outrage & our witness if we'd stop expecting what the Word doesn't promise
When you put Christians in charge, there is more peace & harmony.
That is why the Church Business Meeting is legendary for its beauty, peace, & enjoyment.
Don't know him. I probably have some areas of significant political difference with him. But I love this picture. I'm sure this isn't "his job" but it shows the attitude that should be in all leaders (& people in general).

I'm on the conservative end of the accounts I interact w/the most, & this morning I'm grieved.
-The people I have more in common w/as far as a conservative theo are often some of the most joyless, unkind, graceless, troll-y accounts I come across.

"Jesus got angry"
Yep
But what caused his greatest anger? Sinners sinning? (Woman at well, caught in adultery, Zaccheus, etc)
No.
The Temple clearing is the go-to one.
Angry at religious leaders placing obstacles in the way of people coming to know God.
Is that why we're mad?
At the age of 17 I made 3 vows.
I will never be a preacher
I will never be a teacher
I will never work with teens
History shows that I am not, nor ever was, a prophet.
I was taught that the "world" was fallen, & in sinful.
In other words, that the SYSTEM was bound up with sin.
So it is very odd that many of those same people, whom I share a theo-background, vehemently deny that sin can be systemic.
If you believe that men are supposed to protect women, the question becomes, "from whom?"
Men like to imagine dragons, but most often it is the men themselves that are the biggest threat.
Too many men/leaders/husbands have hurt women while claiming a role of protector.
Still not ready for having adult children. Especially when stuff happens, like the call I got a 12:30am this morning that started with, "Dad, we're ok, but...."
In Biblical marriage, the husband should sacrifice more, serve more, & surrender more than the wife
How else do we explain "as Christ loved the church & gave Himself up for her"?
Teaching that turns the husband into the risen lord rather than suffering servant is wrong.
One burden many of us are carrying IMHO is not really knowing how to mourn those who we looked up to, worked with, & trusted, who have fallen away, either into conspiracies or just full-away.
There is a profound disorientation when the person we thought we knew ceases to exist.
My wife & I are pretty traditional, including conservative views of the Bible's teaching on sex & gender.
We were raised in rural Maine by conservative parents.
We have 4 kids, Oldest daughter & 3 sons.

And in doing so, we are tying up heavy burdens for others to carry.
I'm a BIG fan of being faithful to the Bible. How that looks can vary a lot w/in orthodoxy.

The Bride of Christ is never under siege by a lost world.
Those that preach & portray it in this way have lost the plot.
The gates of hell are under threat by the power of the Good News of redemption.
We must stop telling Christians that they might be defeated.
Jeremiah was called to declare judgement & wrath. He hated it, cried about it, & mourned.
If you feel "called" to proclaim such a message, & relish the chance to call down judgement on others, you likely have missed the heart of God for lost sinners.
I'm deeply grieved by my fellow theo conservatives, esp pastors, who put grace in their bio but not in their tweets.
Being conservative myself, I don't understand why so many are insufferable scolds, jerks, & consistently unkind while also saying they revere Christ.

As I watch some of the right-wing church warriors on here, I find this quote coming to mind.
"There have been some who were so preoccupied with spreading Christianity that they never gave a thought to Christ.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Great Divorce
The Gospel is not about how opposed God is to the world.
The story of the Gospel, in both O.T. & N.T. is the story of how God relentlessly tries to draw a rebellious people back to Himself.

Dear brothers & sisters in Christ. Please pray for a young couple I'll be with today as they have to go through the still birth of the baby they just lost at 16 weeks.
Our hearts are all broken.
The Bible says Christians are "aliens & strangers."
The clear reference is the sojourns in Egypt & Babylon.
So I consider myself living in Babylon (not David's Jerusalem).
Now, when Babylon & Nebuchadnezzar does Babylonian things, I find that unsurprisingly.
If your view of inerrancy includes that you must hold tight to all the N.T. teachings, then you really must include this one, right?
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

It's terrible that our government doesn't hold Jesus' resurrection as vital & special. Not like the government in Jesus' time which was of course much more respectful.
I guess I should have added: Remember when God confronted Joseph for tempting Potiphar's wife?
The point is that sin resides in the heart of the sinner. Sure we can be tempted, but Jesus said sin comes from the heart. David & Mrs P were both carried away by their own lust.

As a Youth Worker for 35+ years, esp. at a Christian camp for teens, who builds a lot of relationships w/both saved & unsaved Gen Z'ers (& other "gens"), this broad brush condemnation is not only unhelpful, but nukes Col 4:6.
Each gen expresses their lostness in different ways.
I sometimes am concerned that people misunderstand that I'm pretty conservative on the Bible.
I am liberal in love, grace, mercy b/c the Bible is.
Too often taking the Bible very seriously has been married to being pretty graceless & unloving.
Last week I went into the store to buy a basketball. They were $12 and needed to be pumped up.
I went back today & now they are fully pumped up but $20.
That's inflation.
I'm sad. I refuse to embrace discouragement, b/c I will try to learn from you how NOT to hold our Biblical values, our faith, & conduct myself w/those who I often disagree w/.
& I'm praying for you b/c I hope you can find the grace & mercy you need, so you can show it.

Many of those who told us that, believed it. But when the culture changed, revealing that their security was less in Christ & more in cultural hegemony, their fear overrode their previous beliefs.
Our challenge is to help them & not emulate their mistake.

The priest & the Levite who passed on the other side had good reasons.
There are many Christians today both defending those reasons & encouraging more to pass to the other side.
This troubles my heart.

What if the Church attacked the State by working harder than them protecting the vulnerable, seeking to stop the spread of sickness, & using love to encourage good health practices, even if there was an organizational cost?

It saddens me to see other Biblical/theo conservatives struggle with things like gentleness, compassion, & just general niceness.
Yes, the cross is offensive & makes Jesus a stumbling block, but the Good News is not one of harsh rejection but universe-shaking LOVE.
25 years.
We've learned that true intimacy is about complete vulnerability w/each other, sharing weakness more than strength.
In moving toward each other in conflict instead of retreating.
The painful & hard moments have been some of the most forming in teaching us about oneness.

Even if this sad, false simplification of terms was true, which it isn't, the spirit with which it is offered is not designed to reach the souls he is ostensibly addressing.
This isn't a pastor's heart for people, it's a warrior's attack on strawmen.
"The gates of hell" are a defensive structure.
No one attacks you with gates.
Those who proclaim that "the church is under attack" seem to have missed Jesus' very plain, simple language.
The power of the Good News proclaimed will assault those gates.
The apostles knew this.
center their bio on Jesus, esp pastors, engage by using guilt by association, name-calling, innuendo & backbiting against others....ouch!
Often they are accusing others of doing that first, but even if that's true, it's not a Biblical response to do it ALSO!

Watching some good faith discussion around the SBC's efforts around abuse & I honestly think that some of these pastors, w/their real concerns, do not realize that they come across VERY worried about false accusations & mildly concerned about actual abuse.
