Allegheny County 9-1-1 has received reports of a loud boom, shaking in the South Hills and other reports. We have confirmed that there was no seismic activity and no thunder/lightning. At this point, we have no explanation for the reports, but agencies are continuing to look.

(1/2) The rumors circulating about the use of Sharpie pens or markers are just that – rumors. While we recommend that voters use blue or black ball point pens, and discourage the use of markers, it’s to prevent the ink from leaking through onto a back side of a ballot.
Allegheny County Board of Elections certifies votes cast for the November 3, 2020 general election which were not part of any legal challenge. The vote was 2-1 with Council Member DeMarco voting against.
Pittsburgh (Strip District): Sinkhole - intersection of 33rd Street/Smallman Street, a large sinkhole has developed. Smallman Street will be closed indefinitely while the situation is being evaluated. No timeframe on when it will be reopened.
Over the last two days, across five locations, approximately 13,950 ballots were returned to elections offices this weekend. This includes both ballots that had been mailed out as well as those of voters who applied in-person, received, completed and returned their ballots.

ACHD has issued an emergency order requiring U.S. Steel to come into compliance with its hydrogen sulfide standard and sulfur dioxide limits. U.S. Steel must submit a plan within 24 hours to ACHD as to how this will be achieved.

Yesterday, the state Supreme Court issued an order defining incorrectly dated declaration envelopes. Specifically, mail-in ballots with dates of September 19 through November 8 are properly dated. Absentee ballots with dates of August 30 through November 8 are properly dated.

A: No. As you may have noticed, the online ballot tracker may not been showing a date for "Ballot Mailed On."
Today is the last day for the additional election offices in our county. They are open from 11 am to 7 pm for ballot return and application. There are already lines at each location so plan ahead.
