It’s really insane how gen 9 was peak VGC until someone decided introducing Urshifu was a good idea and then Worlds was played in an absolute garbage, low skilled format where a lot of the teams in top cut simply doesn’t make switches (yes I’m a bad loser)
Finished 2nd in the EUIC after an intense set against the legend
@Paul_Chua_
huge congrats to him and looking forward to a rematch in NAIC.
I did my best, I have no regrets!
From a competitive player standpoint, this Worlds is easily the worst of all major tournaments I’ve been into. Multiple game disconnects, lack of space (too much people in the venue), I couldn’t get a worlds shirt from my size and some very important matches were not streamed
Finished 2nd at NAIC! Super awkward that I could've won both games in Finals by just clicking Max Quake, I guess it just wasn't meant to be 😅 still very satisfied with my team and performance this weekend, had a great time in Columbus and no regrets!
Not sure if I want to revive this topic, but at this point we all agree that OTS is good for the competitive scene and rewards the better player, right?
Also the argument that OTS prevents creative teambuilding keeps being refuted in every major tournament so far lol
Just faced a TCG guy at 4-1 that accidentally signed up for Vgc
He had AV CM protect Bolt and used Protect with his CB Arcanine-H in front of my Urshifu, I’m so confused
It is so crazy to me that im going to NAIC because i went to EUIC because i went to OCIC because I went to NAIC because I got second at a sword and shield online ic with tornogre + life orb mimikyu
Life is good
Sad because I don’t think I played well in Finals however happy with my performance overall. G2 Icy Wind miss was rough + I was told Incineroar was Shuca however it’s all on me in the end. Congrats to
@TheKingVillager
really well deserved :)
I legit think series 1 is the best metagame I’ve played and San Diego showed there’s still so much to explore. It’s a real shame it won’t last long and most people won’t be able to play more than 1 event under this ruleset.
Series changing every 1 or 2 months is a mistake!!
Finished 37th at Worlds with a 4-3 record. I had a great time in Japan, was happy to be on stream and enjoyed every game I played.
Losing the win and in was extremely heartbreaking, I think I played quite well yesterday and really wanted to top cut again. I’ll be back stronger.
NA regionals are having insane attendance numbers and players like jevans, chua, wolfe, joeux9, nails, animus, battleroom, chuppa, luka and others (sry probably missing a bunch) keep showing insane consistency every tour
Gen 9 + OTS is the best era of VGC and it's not even close
I finished the 2023 season 1st in Latin America and 8th worldwide with 1166 CPs.
very proud of this achiviement as I only played 3 regional level events this year (pretty sure everyone above me in the CP leaderboard played at least twice this amount)
See you all in Yokohama! 🇯🇵
If my Xerneas 🦌 and my girl 👧 😍 both drowning 😱🌊👋 and I can only save one 😤 😬 Catch me at my girl funeral 😔 👻 🌹 +2 SpA SpD and Spe after Geo turn 1 💪🏼😎🔝
Everyone talking about Rinya Sun, but I really doubt it would have won 2 European majors in a row if
@riopaser
wasn't piloting it...
Obviously the team is insanely strong, however after watching EUIC I am much more impressed by Eric's plays than the team itself. Absolute legend
the first ever VGC Brazilian Regional had only 30 spots for Masters... the cap was full in literally less than a minute :( pls give us more spots
@CopagPokemon
7-1 using the GOATs team I’m back to top 8 🫡
thank you
@WolfeyGlick
best teambuilder in the world and the brothers Daniel and
@NilsDunlop
for the help with FWG Flutter
A lot of people asking me why I used Garchomp over Great Tusk on my Natal regional team. This really confuses me.
Chomp has better typing, ability, bulk distribution and speed, while having the same base attack as Tusk…
At this point I can safely say series constantly changing just encourages lazy practice/teambuilding, I can't be the only one who has no motivation/time to grind a format knowing it's gonna change in two months...
The europeans just told me about the German that is in finals. He’s a legend.
Since Zeen is also a legend, this is gonna be the best Worlds Finals of all time.
So apparently you need 50 Tera Shards to change your Pokémon's Tera Type (???). I spent hours is the last 2 days doing raid battles and the most I have is 12 Tera Shards (Normal type).
Please someone tell me there's another way. This really can't be real lol
The biggest issue with Reg D is that a lot of the powerful, common teams in the format have a very low skill ceiling
IMO strategies such as torn urshifu / chien pao dnite / dondozo HO / cress ursaluna are too linear and do not encourage the development of a healthy metagame
racists are so stupid that yesterday a guy typed "go back to brazil" during my interview, like dude this is an online tournament wtf are you even talking about lmao
I also had a 4th account (user454) but stopped using it because gxe was too high. In the end it's all meaningless since I wasn't able to convert my showdown performance in a good Worlds run.
I need to play less on showdown and more on the actual game. Next year I'll be stronger.
Am I the only person in the world that legit likes vgc 2020 and think it’s a very skill based format? Sure it has many problems but all formats had tbh...
São Paulo Regional already has 322 registered players. For comparison, the biggest tournament in Brazil was our very first major, LAIC 2017 (186 masters)
Its insane how much the Brazilian community grew recently and I’m grateful to be part of this for so long
I don’t usually tweet about irl stuff but might skip pc4 this weekend.
Friends know how this tournament is important to me, however I’m not feeling mentally well in the past few days and forcing myself to play doesn’t seem right.
If you are religious please pray for me :)
A bit late, but I finished OCIC at 55th place with a 6-3 record.
Despite this being my worst Internats performance, I had a great time in Melbourne, so thanks to all my friends and opponents this weekend!
I also got my Worlds invite! See you in Yokohama 😄
Lastly, took pics with 2 of my biggest VGC inspirations. I think I'm in the right path to get into these players levels one day. Had the honor to face Aaron in r1 of Swiss which was super hype, I wish this match was recorded. And thanks you two for being so kind to me!
Finished Worlds at 4-3. Not a bad result considering how stacked d2 was, however I’m still very disappointed with myself and this result feels super underwhelming. Using Ditto again was fun
