Looking back, I’m still in shock from #Match2023 #SOAP2023 . 3/13/23 sucked. Can’t even lie. 3/14-15/23 wasn’t much better. But a miracle happened on 3/16/23, and I’m still in awe. I didn’t have a paper/pen but I had the beach and the internet 😂

When I asked for feedback on my (non-surgical) rotation, I was told “you’re too eager. You come across very confident. And you have a tendency to act like a surgeon, and that’s not good.” I was speechless.

I loved neurosurgery. I really did. Without a doubt, I was so certain nsgy was my path. But I didn’t realize I wasn’t in love with it until I did gen surg. And, I am *IN LOVE* with #GeneralSurgery . The OR has always felt like home, but #gensurg feels way more like *me* 🙏🏽

I seriously love surgery. I love the entire process of scrubbing in, how the gloves just slick on and snap, time out, working with a great team, fixing/removing the patient’s cause of pain/problem, and seeing the improvement (& pt smile) the next day. Time flies in the OR.

Whether you got 1 interview or 31, keep your head high & doubtful voices low. We’re all anxious. Everyone’s nervous. It’s a mess. Instead of comparing your chances vs others, just focus on your blessings thus far. No point in having a misery/ “could be worse” competition.
