One of the reasons I chose to do my PhD at UWI and not outside of the region is because the great [Caribbean] thinkers, cultural and literary giants, impactful and action oriented scholars are only one degree of separation away. Some of them I’ve had the opportunity to meet.

Black for Black Americans refers to our collective ethnicity. When other groups call themselves "Black" and try to insert their culture and customs in "Black culture" when it only refers to us, it erases us...A Haitian is Haitian & their culture is Haitian culture etc.
