ALLRAIL calls on #European policymakers to make it mandatory for state-owned incumbents to sell/lease their underutilised/unutilised rolling-stock on the market on fair, reasonable & non-discriminatory terms. Competition cannot work optimally if the rules of the game are rigged.

There has been no independent review of whether this scrapping is necessary These trainsets should have another 10-15 years in them, & market dominant operator should not be reducing supplying of 2nd hand vehicles to make it more difficult for new entrants to enter market (1/2)

It's good to see that another EU cross-border commercially driven night train, the Alpen-Sylt Express, started its services again yesterday between Austria and Germany In addition to normal seats and couchettes, it has sleeper cars as part of the product

We welcome the #French ban on domestic #flights of up to 2.5 hrs But for the past 2 yrs, we've been calling for more ambitious measures: -Ban flights of up to 4 hrs, -Include cross-border routes, -Ban all flights that compete with night #train services

Good grief: as if the number of EU rolling stock manufacturers was not already small & concentrated enough one has even engaged in digital sabotage: blocking its trains from service at 3rd party workshops, with code in trains to generate random faults
