Would be a huge win for ESPN if he didn’t return IMO.
Would much rather listen to Saban and Herbstreit talk ball than this guy yell and act like an idiot.
Pat McAfee reportedly doesn't have a signed deal to return to College GameDay with the season around the corner.
McAfee not returning to GameDay would be an absolute disaster for ESPN.
DETAILS:
Thankful.
Tragedies, scandals, constant President changes, drama with the BOT, etc. Tom Izzo is the one consistent leader the university has had and I’m not sure where we would be without him.
The thing that makes me the most sad about the last three years is that Tyson Walker won’t be remembered how he should be.
I really believe he could have gone down as one of the more memorable players to ever wear an MSU uniform if the team had had more success.
IMO he is
This sounds so corny, but I love being a fan of this program.
In the NIL and portal era, Senior day doesn’t mean much. It still means something at Michigan State.
And while I may not be happy with the results of the last four years, the season isn’t over yet.
Let’s make a
Michigan State opens as a 3.5 point underdog vs North Carolina.
Saturday is going to be a war. If we bring the effort we did today defensively and on the glass, we got a legit shot.
Call me a homer all you want. MSU wasn’t allowed to win that game. Worst officiated basketball game I’ve seen in a long time and I hate being that guy but I’ll be that guy tonight. Absolute trash.

"I'm gonna get back to a deeper run in this tournament, or I'm going to die trying."
The 2014 team is one of my favorite MSU hoops teams of all time and a huge part of why was because of AP-Lacey’s relationship. Will never forget AP dropping 41 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament that year.
RIP big fella.
Tom Izzo vs the SEC in the NCAA Tournament:
1999 Mississippi: W
1999 Kentucky: W
2000 Florida: W
2003 Florida: W
2005 Kentucky: W
2010 Tennessee: W
2015 Georgia: W
2019 LSU: W
Unless I’m missing a game, Tom Izzo has never lost to an SEC team in March. Time to make it 9-0 this
Tom Izzo is much more than just a basketball coach. He is Michigan State University. There will never be another one like him both on the court and off of it.
Korie Lucious was at the Michigan State-Wisconsin game last night sitting behind the MSU bench. Pretty cool that he seems to be close to the program again.
If you would have told me a couple years ago that Emoni would be playing a second year of college basketball at Eastern Michigan and Rocket was at Oakland, I would’ve told you you were out of your mind lol. Life is crazy.
Mel is 100% done. Even if he is innocent of sexual harassment, he’s unfit to lead young men.
How can you try and be a role model and leader for 18-22 year olds and tell them to make good decisions while you’re out doing stuff like this?
@couchburn3r
In the last 20 yrs, Michigan had a decade of the worst teams in program history. MSU had a decade of the best teams in program history. Meaning that even at MSU’s best & Michigan’s worst, the series is split even & MSU can’t come out on top. Bragging about that = Little Brother
Tyson Walker said postgame that his second-half dunk was the first he's pulled off in his career in-game — much to the surprise of coach Tom Izzo.
Walker: "I ain't never dunked in a game."
Izzo: "Never dunked?"
Walker: "Nah, but I went for it."
Saddi Washington said on
@drivewithjack
that when he interviewed with Michigan, Izzo called up Beilein and recommended him and 8 years later when Washington was interviewing with MSU, Beilein called up Izzo and recommended him.
I love Charles Barkley but you can tell he doesn’t watch college basketball at all. Talking about how MSU needs to “slow it down” to have any chance. Uh no. The last thing I want is for this team to get no transition buckets and have to run half court offense every possession.
Games like today are why I want Akins back for his Senior year so bad.
This kid has so much talent. He could be the alpha next year with Walker and Hoggard gone.
Nah. Joey Hauser was one of the main reasons the team was still playing tonight. Had a hell of a season and shut all the haters up. Really, really gonna miss him.
MSU had like a .1% chance of getting a double bye at this time last week and literally every result has gone their way. Minnesota coming back down 10 with a minute left to beat Rutgers, Nebraska over Iowa, Penn State come back vs Maryland, etc
Amazing.
Michigan State could start four 23-year olds and a Junior with a ton of experience next year while also adding a top 3 class to the team. Guard play, experience, talent, versatility, depth, etc. This could potentially be the best roster MSU has had in years.
Michigan State hoops and Michigan football are rolling right now. Michigan State football and Michigan basketball look like train wrecks. Seems like we’re going back to the old days lol.
This is the most depressed I’ve been since April 6, 2019. Really thought when T Walk hit that 3 at the top of the key that we were gonna pull away.
I’m crushed.
I will defend Izzo to my grave but I just haven’t understood the lineups all year.
Cut the lead to 5 finally going small. Immediately go back to a big. Why?
Why is 22 starting? He hasn’t done a damn thing in weeks.
Zero minutes for Booker in the 2H? There’s always an excuse
Raymar Morgan announced his retirement today. Had a hell of a career overseas playing 13 seasons. 2017 BBL scoring leader and MVP. All Champions League First Team in 2021 and won a Championship last season. One of the most underrated Spartans of all-time IMO.
#GoGreen
Duke is the biggest program in the sport and hasn’t won an ACC Title in a decade. Both Duke and Kentucky missed the Tourney last year and haven’t made a Final 4 since 2015 despite bringing in a top class every yr. Your team was preseason top 5 and you’re on the bubble.
Enough.
Noted Blue Blood Michigan State (a program with one trip past the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament since 2015) is now 18-17 in Big Ten play over the past two men's college basketball seasons.
Izzo on 97.1 this morning:
-Brown has made a "monster jump.""
-Brooks is as good a shooter as they got.
-Hoggard is now 33 lbs less than when he arrived on campus last summer.
Casuals will just say “It’s only Indiana State” but that’s a good ass win for Michigan State. Indiana State hit 14 3s and Michigan State still wins by double digits. MSU absolutely loses this game if it was played a month ago.
Hoggard and Akins have finally joined Walker in
The James Madison loss was concerning but thought it was just an upset and a flukey night where we couldn’t hit a shot. The Duke and Arizona losses sucked but both are talented teams.
Tonight is a real eye opener. I’m not gonna write this team off in December but getting worked
@ClutchPoints
The Clippers were eliminated on September 15. 97 days in the bubble means he got there on June 10. Training camp didn’t even start until July 9th. Something isn’t adding up lol.
Keep this in mind when you want to run Izzo out for going two years without winning the Big Ten. Duke is the biggest name in the sport and went 12 years without a share of an ACC Title and 16 years without winning it outright.
The last time Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke Blue Devils won the outright ACC regular-season title, Greg Paulus was a freshman.
It was 16 years ago. 2006.
I’m probably over reacting to this and I completely understand people being skeptical but I really think he’s as motivated as ever to fix this and get things back to how it’s supposed to be.
None of us fans want to see him go out like this and neither does he.
He was loyal to

"I'm gonna get back to a deeper run in this tournament, or I'm going to die trying."
Checked the North Carolina message board out tonight to see what they were saying about Saturday.
Tell me you don’t know Michigan State basketball without telling me you don’t know Michigan State basketball lol.
This Kentucky search should show some MSU fans that they better be careful what they wish for when they say they want Izzo to retire.
Now that doesn’t mean you can’t criticize him. Criticism is fine. He deserves some criticism for recent seaons.
But Kentucky is a top 3 job in
Love seeing all the former players from the Dantonio era that actually won something talking on here today. That culture is exactly what we need back. Give me players who want to be at Michigan State and I’ll live with the results.
Outside of maybe a handful of guys, none of
Good ass win!!!
Took punch after punch and kept swinging back
Izz was vintage Izz. Intensity and locked in from the opening tip.
-Kudos to AJ Hoggard and Malik Hall. Two players who have received a lot of criticism from the fan base (especially AJ from me) and they BALLED
Random stat: Michigan State is 1-5 this year in games that Bo Boroski has been a ref. The lone win was vs Notre Dame. 0-5 in B1G play with 4 double digit losses.
MSU is 8-6 in B1G games with other refs.
Honestly, I can’t even really get mad at anyone on the team. This falls on me for thinking we had a shot. This group has shown us who they are for a while now. At least 13 losses each of the last 4 years. 15 losses this year.
Need a MAJOR reset this offseason with multiple
MSU has got pretty much everything it needed in this 2023 class…
5-star likely OAD ✅
Stud PG that is a winner and could be the next great one in EL ✅
3-point sniper that opposing fan bases won’t like ✅
Athletic as hell 3-4 hybrid that MSU hasn’t had in recent years ✅
Imagine having a take this dumb. Izzo lets his players give it to him as well. It's not a one way street and that's why he has such a good relationship with his players. Being intense is nothing personal. Such a soft world we live in now a days.
They hadn’t won a road game in over a year. They just fired their coach.
There’s no defending this shit anymore lol. We just lost to Iowa and Ohio State back to back at home.
For as much criticism as he’s got this year at times, I thought Mady Sissoko was excellent yesterday. 8 points and 10 rebounds in 21 minutes. Two huge blocks in the final minutes. Did exactly what this team needs from him.
I’ve watched this highlight at least 100 times today lol.
Lost my mind when this shot went in. Nothing I love more than a transition 3 ball and then I see our PG’s AJ and the Floor General fired up as the CBS theme music starts playing. Pure euphoria.
Every single four year player under Tom Izzo has made at least an Elite 8. All but two have made a Final Four.
That streak is on the line for AJ, Malik, and Mady. It’s time to cement your legacy. It’s been an up and down year but Spartan Nation believes in you boys!
Beat
Might need to take a Twitter break until this MSU-Michigan stuff dies down from both sides. Punish all the players involved and move on. The bickering back and forth is exhausting.
I hate being negative but 22’s minutes just have to drop. We’re up 11. He’s played 17 minutes. He’s a -11. He has 3 points and 1 rebound.
MSU has ourscored Penn State by 22 in the 21 minutes he hasn’t played.
This team has so many issues but maybe give the 5-star big that you chased around all last summer a couple of minutes? I realize he has a long ways to go but 22 couldn’t score 10 points in an empty gym.
This is an absolute joke. Team has absolutely zero dog in them. Every time
Book is gonna be a flat out dog next year.
I think this is gonna be determined by how Izzo attacks the portal but I think next year will be a much more likable group of guys. Book, Fears, etc all easy to root for.
Since Saturday night, Scott Bell has Tweeted about MSU/Mel Tucker 16 times and Michigan once.
Really weird behavior from an adult. I’m sure his minions love it though.
Fun fact: If Michigan State beats Minnesota 110-0 this weekend, Mel Tucker's MSU teams will still have given up more points in Big Ten games than they've scored since he was hired.
