In 2015, my husband came home with a vision board & said “you av all these ideas, write them down. Whatever you find stressful; put my name on it I will figure it out”. In 2016 my combined 5 year blogging revenue was up 500%. In 2017 it’s 1500%. Marry you a good man!

In a country where people are not allowed to wear camo clothing, you expect us to believe that ordinary people dressed up in full military combat outfits and just showed up. We truly look this foolish to you people? #EndSARS #LekkiMassacre #LekkiTollGateShooting

We are forever shaming things we don’t understand. Ofada smells because it is fermented. Fermentation is what makes it unique & much healthier than regular rice. This is also why the GI of Ofada is much lower than brown rice eventhough it’s also unpolished .

The smell of Ofada Rice is not because there's any species of rice with such smell. It's simply due to using the same water repeatedly to process several batches of rice over weeks till it's stinking like dead bodies before they change the water. Odourless Ofada Rice exists.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but this is SUGAR! Your body does not know the difference between date sugar, cane sugar or beet sugar. Sugar is sugar. *Limit your added sugar intake regardless of source.* & no the fiber doesn’t change much. It’s 84g of sugar to 6g fiber.

There is a traditional technique for fried yam that involves adding water to hot oil. A potential fire hazard if you don’t know what you are doing, but always perfectly executed by the market women who developed it. Traditional Nigerian cooking is a marvel.

It’s not the food. It’s lack of self control. Folks want to eat like bricklayers but also don’t want to walk anywhere. One can eat bread for breakfast, rice for lunch, soup and swallow for supper and still do it in a healthy way.

The reason why so many Nigerians don’t have flat tummy is because of the kind of food we eat here. Our diet is shitty. Too much rice, bread, swallow, oil, etc and everything just goes to our stomach.

A perfect example of how not to eat: - Beans + white rice is starch on top of starch. - No quality protein in sight. - Deficient in key nutrients. Very low to no calcium, iron, vitamin B12, selenium etc - It will spike insulin and blood sugars. - A ridiculously large meal
