Hot take:
You don't need an MFA to be a great writer. You can be completely self-taught. Conversely, you can have an MFA from a prestigious university and still be a shitty writer.

Agent responded to my query and absolutely loved the sample I sent. She praised a lot of it and gave detailed feedback on what she thinks needs work. But, she said it's a tough sale for memoir bc I don't have many followers.

My husband has Covid and is quarantined in our guest bedroom. He's mildly sick so no worries.
Is it wrong of me to enjoy having uninterrupted writing time for a few days?
@HC_Richardson
Plot twist:
1)Hide classified documents in Ivana's casket.
2) Bury on golf course
3) Host Saudis for golf tournament at said course.
4) Dig up casket and retrieve documents.
5) Sell documents to Saudis for enough 💰 to cover debts.
6) Saudis leave country with national secrets.
Another poem of mine was accepted for publication! 🎉
But this is the first time I've had to contact a couple other journals to withdraw it.
How do editors view this? Does it annoy them? Or does it make them think your writing might be worthwhile since someone else likes it?

It's this "be thankful" attitude that stifles improvement. In no other patient population would such side effects be tolerated. It's possible to be both grateful and still advocate for improvement.
@MariaUloko
I'm a heart transplant recipient. I recently had a conversation with another female transplant, and we both were told our heart failure symptoms were due to menopause. She told me about dozens of women who experienced the same thing. Infuriating!
Thank you everyone who followed me! I'm really close to 1,000 followers.
Can we keep it going today? Keep sharing and let's get to 1,500!
We can do it!
@DrDoyleSays
This is why I excelled at managing a 24/7 emergency dispatch department. When things got crazy, I was cool as a cucumber. Day to day, never mind.
Today I received a rejection letter for the essay I submitted to
@TBQuarterly
in July last year. How appropriate to receive it on Cinco de Mayo.

I'm 62 followers away from 2500. Let's do this! Then I can tell potential agents, to paraphrase Steve Martin in The Jerk, "Look! I'm somebody now!"

Just now, in this thread, am I realizing they probably did it so I wouldn't sow my bad genes into the population. Most women can't get a tubal ligation w/o a fight. Wow! 🤯
Thank you, all you lovely people for following me. I can't wait to follow you back, once I'm off restriction.
It's crazy that I can't follow people because I followed too many in one day.
Unless I pay for the check mark. Like posting bail.
Sounds like ransom to me. 😐
@traecrowder
My dad lives in Celina. When we visit him, we stay at a nice little cabin near the campground along the river. It's owned by a nice lady named Valerie. DM me and I will give you her number.

When I was 18 and pregnant, I went into heart failure bc of my congenital heart defect. Drs pushed me to abort to save my life and also assumed baby would have defect so poor quality of life. I did it and begged to tie my tubes. They did it, no pushback. 1/2
Today is the 18th anniversary of my first heart transplant.
I wrote a post on my website about my gratitude for the past 18 years. You can read it at this link.
To clarify, I didn't write this sentence or diagram. This is the opening line of The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. I snagged the diagram off Facebook about 9 years ago. If anyone knows who the creator is, let me know so I can credit them.
@Dee_Camacho
Sometimes they diagnose you as being fat.
I had a known congenital heart condition. Presented with shortness of breath and fatigue. Dr noted my recent weight gain and told me to lose weight. That weight was fluid overload and I was in heart failure.
Thank you to everyone who followed my page today! I've doubled the number of followers in one day!

Wow! This has really gone viral.
Almost 180k impressions in 24 hours! If half of those turned into follows, maybe the agent who refused me because I didn't have a following would reconsider.
@tamrmint
Not shaming anyone. Uplifting those who think they can't do it without credentials. Trying to dispel imposter syndrome from some who feel they can't break into the writing world without the proper degree.
Today's post is inspired by a young man who did not receive a heart transplant in time, due to the lack of organ donors.
Please follow link in post to register as an organ donor. And please subscribe to receive future posts to your inbox.
RT appreciated
I just followed 3 people and it said I hit my limit. I don't know if that's for the hour or what. It allows me 3 follows periodically. If I have 1,000 people to follow back at 3/hr, that's a lot of hours.
I will get to everyone in time.
Anyone else suffer from Schrodinger's Editor? It's the condition in which your writing is both garbage and a work of art, and you decide which every time you read it?

Doing penance for all that thanksgiving yumminess.

My only instance of being rude was documented and held against me. I'm a heart transplant pt. Presented to ED with SOB. Post tests, ED doc tells me I'm fine and suggests early menopause as DX. I flipped out. Admitted and found I had rejection. But my reaction follows me still.

I was a writer in the 90's, but I had to get a job because I like to eat. Now I'm starting over in my 50's. Too disabled to work, I have time at last.

@andreabarrett__
My last appointment turned into a total 💩 show and I ended up dissociating and not talking about anything I wanted to say.
Today I learned that there's a limit on how many people you can follow in a day. If I didn't follow you back yet, I will. Waiting to be allowed.
Thank you everyone! My followers more than doubled today.
I appreciate you! 🥰
@MariaUloko
It's amazing how much the quality of care varies between doctors. My first cardiologist wanted to make me DNR when I went into heart failure. I transferred to another hospital, and they gave me a heart transplant.

. Like Keats, a poem in her new collection Modern Poetry transforms her father “into an objective presence, an objective recipient of love.” Check out this

Eh, maybe your story right now isn't the straightforward, heroic "comeback" tale that our culture loves. Maybe it has messy or tragic digressions-- even in adulthood.
I can tell you mine does.
You might be an imperfect hero. But guess who else is?
Every survivor ever.
Question for fellow writers.
I have over 50 subs pending reply, some going back 6 months. Is this normal? I'm beginning to think submittable is broken and sending my work off into space.

2024 begins.
My husband is still in quarantine.
My elderly dog had a bout of pancreatitis and kept me up half the night. She seems fine this morning.
Younger dog freaked out over fireworks at midnight.
And I woke up to two rejections in my inbox.
But I do have coffee. ☕

Amy, I'm sorry to read this news. You have been an inspiration to me and others in the transplant community. I wish comfort and peace for you. 💞
