The thing about Sp*rs. They’ve clearly spent eight seasons being good. We have not. They finished ahead of us in the EPL; came second in the Champions League final; 2nd in the EPL. Yet during our terrible patch, we’ve won 8 trophies to their 0. It’s the true definition of
#Spursy
If Arteta’s team goes 3 without a win? Special reports and crisis talks.
Spurs 4 winless, with a draw at City… they’re “so brave”.
City 3 draws on the bounce? “Theres no need for panic”.
Conclusion: Everyone has higher standards for Arsenal. We’re still that team.

They invited City in purely to push up the price by £10-15m pounds, hoping it would scare us off. Let’s not pretend West Ham have moral high ground to stand on.
Arsenal snapshot. A thread.
The tough thing at times to remember is that Arsenal over-shot our top-four target so much that if we end up coming second, it may look like a defeat.
Even if second is to a team facing an unprecedented 100+ FA charges for breaching FFP.
@GunnrMav
Fair, but he’s an Arsenal youth player who rose to the first team. From 17 to 25 he wore the badge with pride: carried us to numerous wins against United, Sheffield, Palace, Chelsea. Leaving for a big fee is to be praised. That post was out of line and disrespectful.
I believe there’s a racial element too. Arsenal was an early champion of black players in the EPL: the first to field an all-foreign starting XI. People don’t dislike us because of that: but the “get down the tunnel” mentality does speak of a desire to “keep us in our place”.
Footnote: Four FA Cup, plus four Charity Shields. It’s a valid, but frankly tedious debate. I suggest we move forward. It’s four to eight, depending on definitions. Sigh.
He is absolutely brilliant. Not just a new generation of player, but a new generation of British person. He blends equal parts skill and skulduggery, in an individual that has a huge heart, fierce loyalty, and a unique talent for the pisstake. Love the lad.

The guy had a ponytail and the surname Seaman. He was always going to get some stick. But he proved to be well-hard. Go on, Aaron: use their words to feed you. Genuine fans can’t wait to watch you stuff them.
@Faaabianskiii
In fairness, he’s been terrific. Important to not always equate impact to those on the highlights reel. He works incredibly hard, and is still very young. Confidence and touch will come.
Mikel on Saliba: “I am very hopeful and he is as well... He’s very positive and the medical staff are positive about it. Let’s push it every day and see how he copes with that and how the pain develops as well. He’s so willing to be back in the team."
Eddie Nketiah was released by Chelsea, spotted by a scout, and started at Hale End at 14-years-old. He's a Hale End product.
People on Twitter should check the facts more carefully.

blah blah blah. We were second and you predicted us fifth… oh and then third to United. So we can’t beat City. Well news flash: 4/5 teams in five years couldn’t either. Yet keep piling on. Tedious in the extreme.
Thread: This Villa game sure looks like tasty fixture. The Emery vs Arteta narrative. Two teams having beaten City 1-0 at home. A Villa team with a cracking home record. An Arsenal team that’s strong on the road. First versus third. 1/2

Love it. Not hard to lip read Alonso saying to his coach: “Nah, nah, nah. He’s bullshitting.” So happy for Granit that his season’s gone so well.
"Sensing the need to awaken his team from a comfort level that was only being interrupted by the counter-attacks of Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville, Arsenal’s master of chaos decided it was time to interrupt the rhythm."
“This is the season where Arsenal finally beat Liverpool. This is the calendar year in which Arsenal won twice at Stamford Bridge. This is the season where we went to White Heart Lane, and won for the best part of a decade. We are breaking a lot of bad habits.” (

This guy helped win Wenger’s final FA Cup in partnership with Mertesacker. Let’s end this narrative about Holding: guys, we’ve not lost a game with him recently. The team has dropped levels with these draws, but no scapegoating. Rob can do the job: let’s go.
#PositivelyAFC
He might potentially knock Raphinha out of the Brazil World Cup squad for Qatar. According a recent pundit I read, Martinelli is one of the 10 best left wingers in the world. Together with Saka, whose in that category on the right, we’re looking okay.
#PositivelyAFC
When Guardian finally gets on-board with's Arsenal's chances, a change is here. Last season, they predicted fifth again... and we got second. Now they're saying 2nd again. And almost defending our shot. Uneasy, frankly, but hey I'll take it.

There’s a couple comments noting how AFC fans are “obsessed” w. Sp*rs. The correct word is amused. We’re meantime enjoying the winds of change. Arsenal’s at an inflection point, back in Europe, and set for spending, with a durable plan. A recent thread:
Well, alright then. Breathe that lot in, Gooners. With Gabriel Jesus likely back in the squad this month, and just a touch of swagger about us against Everton, let's just enjoy the view a bit. It's in our hands, the future for now, can wait.

Top Four: A Thread…. Right now, it’s five teams into three places. The games in hand have been clouding the picture: after this coming double game week, that may be less the case. Some observations though. 1) Chelsea’s position is tenuous, though you’d back them for third or
Wow, the Öuters are back.

Two ahead. A game in hand, Everton (H). Growing strength in depth. An overall mood that’s subdued yet focused. Do I think Arsenal is winning the title? No, not really. But with 14 matches to go, we’re in this scrap and our doubters are believing. Which is damn satisfying.

Last day of season. Imagine it.
Arsenal beats Wolves to stay top.
United loses to Fulham, sending them down to fifth.
Welbeck scores for Brighton at Villa, to vault them up into the Champions League, joining Newcastle for 3rd and 4th.
Oh man.
The scenes.
I think it’s amazing that our fans have forgotten that we would have off-days, and that relegation fodder teams at home will literally fight for their life. Fair play to them: that said, we were not as far off as FC Tantrum would have you believe. We go again.
#AFC
Everyone freaking out about Caicedo, calm down. We’ve good ties with Brighton: and the player wants Champions League football next season, plus a shot at a title this season: none of which Chelsea can front. If the price is too high, Edu will have a strong plan-B.
#AFCBelieve
For all those who are freaking out about the transfer window, let's remember this. 1) We're unbeaten post World Cup. 2) Mudryk couldn't have played versus Newcastle anyway. 3) If Edu's plan-B transfers are as good as Zinchenko, let's chill and trust the process.
#AFCBelieve
Reiss Nelson is 23 and in his best season ever. In 85 EPL mins, he has 3 goals, 2 assists, and is a double match-winner. A new contract's a no-brainer. Reiss deserves time, just as Nketiah did. If it doesn't work out? He'll get a great payday out, like Iwobi and Willock did.
#AFC
Have the angst-driven "fans" on Twitter noticed how Maddison, Aouar, Zaha, Neves, Vlahovic, Luis, Mudryk and Caicedo are all completely tearing it up this season? No? Exactly. Next time save yourself the embarrassment of a Twitter tantrum and support your team.

Look at his passion. Gabriel Jesus is Arteta's ace in the hand. He'll be timing it to give his return the perfect chance of both impact and longevity. If he returns latest for Palace (H), it's a great chance of peak fitness for games 30 (Liverpool A) and 33 (Man City (A).
#COYG
Have to say, that was a thoroughly professional win. Not many visitors to Fulham will play them off the park by halftime like that. Not getting ahead of myself, but that is how you send a signal to those chasing you for top place. This Arsenal team today looks ready for a scrap.
Arsenal have decided not to risk Gabriel Jesus this weekend for the match against Leicester even though he passed his 3rd medical update yesterday. Jesus wants to play but Arteta wants to hold back for another week.
#AFC
Imagine losing 7-0 to Liverpool, your arch rivals: and in doing so, turbo charging their Europe campaign. Definitely not the quality of a team anywhere near the top.
Racist abuse of Toney after the match is vile and unacceptable. No amount of disagreement with the result, or frustration even with the player, can justify that disgusting reaction.
Paul Scholes says, “I think it’s very soft… it’s ridiculous.” Owen likewise. These are United players. Why should we have to play a full XI plus the two referees?
"Arsenal spent 248 days at the top of the table... Yes, Mikel Arteta’s side fell short at the business end. But they also gave a treble-winning, history-making City team an almighty scare... They were not far off a historic season of their own."
Nuno Espírito Santo was spot on
@FA_PGMOL
How on earth does this corrupt referee still whistle in your league? It’s his second mistake this season against Arsenal.
@Cap_Thiarmenio
Twitter is a hate machine. Elon Musk encourages these meat heads to be annoying: it’s pure engagement.
Try Threads. Once you sort out app and get Arsenal related content sorted, the chat is much better, and has way less, shall we say, douche factor. 😂
This was my biggest Emery regret. Had he understood the team better, he’d have secured Ramsey as foundational. The player himself never wanted to go.
#COYG
When

To the Manchester United fans who’ve trolled us for months with “we’re coming for you”. First, shut the hell up. Second, United had its heaviest defeat for 92 years to your arch rival. Suck that up. Third: we’re 14 up on you, Liverpool is just 7 behind you. Be afraid.
#FOMU
Really impressed by that tonight: we’ve definitely improved against teams that play anti-football. Rambo had a nightmare, but fair play, it’s a tough gig coming in cold like that. Brentford is a team that bothers the top teams constantly: that’s a great three points. Top we go!
Given how rough we’ve been for these few games, its big if. But if we can scrape two wins this week (LEI (A), EVE (H)), that’s a five point lead as a shaky City enters the CL rounds. Five points, plus Jesus, Partey and ESR back? We might have a title run on our hands again.
#AFC
What a f…ing win. Incredible result for this team: they just don’t give in. Incredible to see us two down, then find goals from Partey, White and Nelson like that. There’s just something about this team. Get in!!!!!

I don’t usually go down the trashy wormhole of player comparisons. What I will say, is anyone claiming Bukayo Saka is not already world-class, is either a liar, or doesn’t understand football. I guarantee your club wants to buy him: and for pots of cash. Luckily AFC is

Looking at the run-ins. 1) Arsenal still has it in its hands. Win 12-13 straight, and it’s ours. 2) Key away matches loom. Ours are tough, but City’s are far from easy. 3) The relegation scrap teams will feature prominently. 1/2
I get that people are stressed about Sunday. Sure, there are many intangibles. But be real: we’ve a decent chance at getting something at City. No matter what team starts at the Etihad, we’ll give them a scrap. Pep is no magician. They’ll be tough: but so will we. Let’s get this.
Bukayo Saka is ours for another four years at least, until 2027. At the rate he is improving, it’s amazing to think how good he’ll be by then. Superb.
