So mad about the doctor who died because a patient lied about their travel history. That's a death that could have been prevented if people weren't so selfish. It's a pandemic and people would still rather infect someone else than risk embarrassment. How selfish and dangerous.
A death in line to get food from a community pantry isn't the fault of the community pantry but of a system that forces people to line up for food from a community pantry to begin with.
Please stop thinking of farmers as old and poor. How are we supposed to attract people of any age into agriculture if we keep perpetuating this stereotype. I know farmers who look like they live in BGC. Tilling the soil should not mea poverty. It should be the opposite!
If you’re mistaking Dionysus for Jesus, you must not be a very good Christian because the imagery is very, very different. You also probably failed your Western literature class.
So glad that the Filipinas dominating current headlines don’t look like beauty queens. In a culture where you aren’t worth anything if you don’t adhere to a certain physical standard, it’s inspiring to see women celebrated for their talents and abilities, not for their looks.
I hope they also do one where the reporter also has to carry a bag, and one where they make a person with mobility issues roam the metro. Metro Manila is so unfriendly to able-bodied pedestrians, what more to the disabled.
“Ay, ump!” Walkable nga ba ang EDSA?

(Entrance is free and the exhibit runs till Aug 25, 2024)
There's a Filipino (I think) superstition that says that if a pet dies for no reason, it's because it exchanged its life for its human's. Some people believe that this is what's happening in my sister's cat's case. It literally took a bullet (well, pellet) for one of us. 😢
Go see a therapist. If your family is againt seeing a therapist, go in secret. That's what I did, and I don't regret it. Also, don't be afraid to try meds. Didn't like the idea of meds until I tried it, and it's changed my life for the better.

Some people mistake my wanting to ride the MRT as a financial thing. They don’t understand that I like taking public transportation and every time I do that is me making a wish and a prayer for a walkable Manila with an efficient, vibrant, and accessible public transport system.
Now that I have everyone's attention, please read this book! Also, put your money where your mouth is and support farmer-led initiatives and environmental advocacies. Hwag hanggang Twitter lang ang outrage.
All these able-bodied people taking videos of themselves walking around the metro to prove that it’s either walkiable or not, depending on who you’re talking to. The real test would be to have a mobility-challenged person walk the city.
Please continue to clamor for the release of Jade Castro and his friends. They have been arrested without a warrant and detained for days now. There has been sufficient proof that they were not the perpetrators of the alleged crime and yet the police refuse to back down.
I have a friend who was born in the Philippines and grew up here yet doesn't identify as Filipino because they're ethnically Chinese. I'm also ethnically Chinese and that offended me so much. Like, everything you have is because of the Philippines. How can you be so ungrateful?
This is blowing up so here goes:
Please donate to the NCMH. There are about 3500 patients, all clumped together, so if one gets infected, it'll spread easily. They're running on a skeleton staff. They're not a major hospital so aren't top of mind but also really need supplies.
Now that we've realized how important the frontliners in different sectors are, I hope this means we'll be pushing for higher wages for them. This includes health workers, farmers, grocery workers, deliver guys, etc.
So many Pinoys interested in the occult but very few who will take up local traditions. Is it because it’s not as glamorous as Western magic? I’m not casting stones here, I use tarot and pendulum divinations myself.
Someone shot our cat. Thankfully, the bullet missed all vital organs though it got lodged in his back and needs an operation to be taken out. Whoever did that is an awful person. Our cat is sweet and kind and trusting. He was probably an easy mark for a coward.
Buong ulat:
If the law makes it illegal for PWDs to buy alcohol does this mean someone with thick glasses cannot purchase alcohol but someone with a history of violence under the influence but hasn’t seen a professional for it (hence no diagnosis) can? How does this help anyone?
Apologies, this post made it seem like we lost him. He's still alive and is stable enough to undergo the operation to remove the pellet from his neck. He's old and immunocompromised, so it's a risk,. but we're hoping he pulls through. Thank you for your concern.
Apparently, there are Chinese Filipinos who, despite having the Philippines to thank for their prosperity and freedom, still do not want to be associated with it. I cannot.
I dislike people who have pretty priviledge. They don't have to actually be good looking. They just have to be told that their whole lives so they think that they have to be treated better than other people.
Not your grandmother’s liniment. Apparently, White Flower changed their packaging to appeal to a younger market. This is their lavender variant. Not a hint of purple!
It used to take 30 mins to get to UP Diliman from San Juan in the 90s, and around the same time to get from Diliman to Makati (I know because I had a friend who'd go to Italianis in Greenbelt if she had three hours free in between classes). Now? Hahahahahahaha. *chokes on coffee*
In the Phil, one way to soften the edges of a harsh message to make it palatable to people who don't want their vibe ruined is to add 'char' at the end.
Ex. If we don't start worrying about our farmers and agriculture systems, it'll be bad for our nation's food security, char.
It's been a week. Jade Castro and his companions still languish under police custody despite being arrested without a warrant and evidence that they were in a different town from where the crime happened. This is a guy with connections. Imagine what happens to those without?
Some lawmakers want to make it illegal for disabled people to buy alcohol?! What’s the logic behind this? What a way tell PWDs they’re leas than human.

There are some friends who you can be vulnerable with because you know you will be supported, and there are some friends who cannot wait for you to trip so they can magnify your smallest weakness just so they feel better about themselves.
Since a lot of people are taking my badly worded tweet wrongly, all I wanted to say is this: most of our farmers are old and poor, but telling young farmers they "don't look like farmers" because they aren't old or in abject poverty isn't doing the industry any favors. 1/2
@TanginaTibs
Grabe ang misogyny. Some gay men even go so far as to use their not being attracted to women as a reason to hate them. I've seen it in action but I'm still shocked that people will act that way during Pride, of all times. But also, not surprised. 😞
I used to work for a guy who didn’t believe in menstrual cramps. Said it was an excuse by lazy women to get out of work. Why yes, he’s a boomer. How did you know? 🫠
@EngineerDoctora
It wasn't designed by Eiffel, but it is crumbling because of rust, among other things, and needs massive restoration. The San Sebastian Basilica Conservation and Development Foundation could use some funding. Thank you for calling much-needed attention to this cause!
Not only is a vaccination center a bad idea because of the big probability that the crowd it will draw will hasten the spread of the virus, cutting down a forest, especially in an urban area desperate for greenery, is dangerous for the environment.
By mobility-challenged, I don’t just mean a disabled person. Could be a senior. Could be someone with a kid. Could be someone with a heavy bag. Could also be someone with a dog. Even an able-bodied person temporarily in crutches will find it difficult to walk anywhere in Manila.
I said this because I know rich people who spend all their time complaining about the Philippines without bothering to give back to the country that nurtured them or try to solve the problems that bother them. That they think I’m the wrong one when I point it out makes me livid.
@Punongbayan_
We asked a psychic that around 2015-2016? She said that a soul chooses the life they live on earth, and those who chose to be Filipino at this time did so because they need/want to experience injustice, either to atone for something in their past lives or just to experience it.
There's a very strong connection between horror and agriculture. For example, the grim reaper, one of horror's most frightening icons, wields a scythe, an agricultural implement used for harvesting. The dictionary defines reaper as "a person or machine that harvests a crop."
Changed my profile photo to one of me holding a rooster so that when people ask which profile is mine, I can say “the one with a huge cock next to her face.”
An anting-anting undergarment from the Katipunan period. Such garments were believed to render the wearer impenetrable to, depending on how it was programmed, knives and/or bullets.
Why do people think that saying 'pasensya' automatically means everything needs to be okay? A sorry without an action to make up for the wrong isn't an apology.
I used to hate the holidays. Then two things happened:
1. I saw a therapist, confurmed that I had depression, and now manage it.
2. I worked so much I missed all the Christmas parties.
If anyone wonders why I love my job so much, it's because it's saved me.
The stereotype is keeping young people from going into farming and it's an unneeded aggressive that young farmers get. But just doing that won't solve anything. There are systems to fix and fight that go back generations. Our farmers shouldn't be poor and yet they are.
It's been 15 days since
@castrojade
and his friends have been illegally arrested and detained in Catanuan.
Here’s hoping that justice prevails and thay they are freed soon.

Nice does not equal kind.
You can be a nice person but it doesn't mean that you are also kind or compassionate.
Nice, most of the time, just means socially acceptable.
Learned over the weekend that Mike Dizon (Teeth, Sandwich, Pedicab) has a popular food vlog called “Nagsimula sa Patikim-tikim.”
Hoping there’s a drinks vlog called “Pare, Shumat Ka Muna.”
You know I love a good horror story - and Trese After Dark is just the thing if you’re looking to find out more about the story behind Trese. Now streaming on Netflix.

I am super grateful that this wave of feminism has given me the vocabulary to label my experiences. Patriarchy. Mansplaining. Ladysplaining. Gaslighting. Toxic masculinity. Fragile male ego.
While people are discussing alternative modes of transportation, can we talk about making the metro PWD-friendly as well? We can start by making sidewalks and walkways accessible.
Heard on the radio:
Caller: I have three daughters.
Young-sounding female DJ: Three daughters? Who’s going to carry your family name? You should try for a son.
Women can be the worst flagbearers for the patriarchy.
