Malaysia is one of the 20 countries that still criminalises suicide. I’m observing International Mental Health and Human Rights Day (which are both in December) by walking with this placard in UM until the end of month. Have a conversation with me about it if you see me 😊

Tipu MC? This kind of mentality of thinking patients would lie about symptoms is the exact reason why a lot of people with chronic pain like me take YEARS to get diagnosed. Doctors thought it was a waste to do some tests on me, turns out I needed those tests 2 years ago.

Living in KL, how am I supposed to pay rent, food and transportation when I’m not paid with a minimum wage at least? Which is why I believe that interns should be paid with dignity, and treated as employees to the companies or service that they serve. No more exploitation.

At PPUM, I was ready to sacrifice 5 hours of my day for an appointment that lasted not more than 15 minutes. This isn’t a unique story. It’s a story of many who has been in the public healthcare system. Not enough doctors and staff, slow computing system and many more.

Per year I have spent at least RM2000 for my own mental healthcare. And yes in a public hospital. That’s therapy and other things that make me a functional human being. I know people who have spent more than that, & people who can’t afford them at all. So 200k is NOT enough

I had the privilege of being able to afford good quality bags that had good support. But that was still not good enough. The consistent pressure on my back has caused a big muscle knot on my right shoulder that has been concluded untreatable after 2 years of physiotherapy.

The moment when I finally realized what just happened. Amira left for a bit to do the PC. People outside were cheering. The team had a moment to breath in the office at the back after having to collect more than a hundred borang 14s. This is what it meant to us. To me.

It has also caused loss of lordosis on my neck, which cause my to have contact migraines. I’m in constant pain on my neck and shoulder. As a result, I’m not able to put any pressure on my shoulders. And if I did, I won’t be able to get up in the morning.

People need to understand that survivors lose so much more than gaining anything, if any. Took me a few years to understand what happened to me, took a decade to tell a close friend and more to tell my parents. It’s like why would anyone do this to themselves for a damn lie??

I’m really hoping to see the mental health budget being increased this year. As much as treatment is really important, we cannot keep urging people to get help that are so inaccessible. That would be cruel. People are waiting weeks to months to get appointments.

Diagnosed with GAD at 18, sudden drop in health at 20 and finally diagnosed w/ hyperthyroidism at 22. Met psychiatrists, neurologists, cardiologists, orthopaedics and gynaecologists. Took one visit to a rheumatologist to order a simple thyroid panel to figure it all out.

I was diagnosed with clinical depression at 20, suffered sudden weight gain at 25, diagnosed with PCOS at 27. I had chronic depression for over a decade up until I was 32. Last year I finally found a doctor who caught that I have hypothyroid. Been on hormone replacement therapy &
