PIAZZA OCCUPIED. As the
@uniofwarwick
continues to reject our demands to cut ties with genocide, we rise up in unison with fellow students all over the world, from Columbia, NYC, to Paris, to Sydney. We say no business as usual as long as Warwick sponsors colonial genocide!
Day recaps of what we’ve been up to so far ❤️🔥 We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community, and we remain steadfast in having our demands met by the university ! From the 300-people rally to the alternative open day, we continue to resist for Gaza 🇵🇸
With just hours notice, 300 students, staff, and community members mobilised to support the encampment and demand Warwick University divest from colonial genocide ❤️🔥❤️🔥🇵🇸
🚨CALLING ALL MIDLANDERS🚨 EMERGENCY RALLY TONIGHT AT 6pm ON THE PIAZZA, WARWICK UNIVERSITY. Support the student occupation and demand the University divest from Israeli colonial genocide! ❤️🔥🇵🇸
Warwick Occupy has won! 🇵🇸 We breathe a huge sigh of relief as our demands have been met after our relentless hard work. This is proof that direct action works. We will take a moment to rejoice and rest but the fight isn't over. Thank you so much for your continued support ♥️
This is categorically false. The university have not spoken to us and frankly, we are not interested in fostering dialogue that does not pertain to our demands - any attempts to do so by management will be rejected.
We’re aware of an ongoing demonstration in the Piazza by Warwick Stands With Palestine - a coalition of student and staff organisations. We're speaking with the demonstration's organisers.
Freedom of speech is a vital component of University life. As a community, we respect the

Launching the official Warwick Stands With Palestine Twitter page! We are a cross-campus coalition of student and staff organisations which holds Palestinian liberation as a cause central to the struggle against exploitation and oppression. ❤️🔥🇵🇸
‼️EVERY DAY OF DELAY MEANS COMPLICITY‼️ After a brief meeting yesterday, the management showed their true face: they’re willing to let thousands die before even considering cutting ties to imperialism and militarism!
A THREAD:
University of Birmingham Encampment Coalition for Palestine has launched!
As the situation in Gaza escalates, so too does the global student movement towards establishing lasting peace and liberating Palestine ✊️🇵🇸
we recognise that women of colour & non-binary/queer POC - our backbone, our voice and our brain - are often erased in the movement..
we thank
@galdemzine

we thank queer icon

Day 1 of occupying Warwick Murdering Group as the community rallied outside to support the escalation
disclose, divest, we will not stop we will not rest ‼️
Yesterday, after a year of rallying, petitioning, and 50 days of encampment, we successfully occupied the WMG IDL building. Despite our persistent efforts, the university management, including Stuart Croft, has ignored the coalition’s calls for a meeting to discuss our demands.
Join us tomorrow for a teach-out focused on the links between Palestine, Green imperialism and international solidarity at 12 pm 🇵🇸🌱 We’re joined by the incredible
@Tilley101
and a speaker from from
@EEforpalestine
!
🚨🚨On Monday, we disrupted a University Executives Board Meeting. As the university continues to ignore us, and staff members roll their eyes as we outline their administration’s complicity in the genocide, we continue to escalate until our demands are met.
We spoke with
@novaramedia
about our demands to the university, Management’s neglect and the encampments that are springing up around the UK 🇵🇸 Watch it here:
The court rules in the camps favour!
LSE fails to evict the camp because they didn’t comply with procedural requirements. Embarassing disregard for acting in accordance with law when seeking to limit students right to freedom of expression
The

stays put 🇵🇸
Students have launched the Aston University Encampment for Palestine🇵🇸, in an escalated effort to pressure the university to terminate its partnerships and links with the State of Israel whilst it continues to commit genocide
DISCLOSE. DIVEST. WE WILL NOT STOP WE WILL NOT REST🇵🇸
🚨‼️JOIN US TOMORROW AT 12 TO RALLY FOR GAZA‼️
Bring friends, family, classmates, flatmates, and everyone you know to the Piazza! Show the University that we say ‼️NO‼️ to business as usual when Israel is invading Rafah!
Despite the University’s claim that our “demonstration is causing concern” the aforementioned community have come out in numbers to support us. The concern lies with their University’ active role in Israel’s genocidal project. We will continue to demand that Warwick divests.
Protestor assaulted by campus security ‼️‼️
Only hours after the International Digital Laboratory of WMG was occupied, protesters were made to defend the occupation from campus security who made many attempts to re-establish control of the building.
We are holding an investigation into the profiling of Brown, Black, LGBTQ+ and Gender Non-Conforming students by campus security. If anyone has a case, please could you DM us - you can be kept as anonymous if you wish.
The University’s insistence on reiterating that our views are “different from their own” should be interpreted as a confession. The University of Warwick is reaffirming their stance and solidifying their role in the martyrdom of thousands of Palestinians. And to that we say SHAME
Following our successful disruption of Eurovision, we moved to outside a University administration building and expanded our encampment to step up pressure on management to break ties with Israeli genocide
See our move featured on Reel News here:
If you are a student/staff/alumni/community member/supporter of our cause from elsewhere, please use this template to send an email to Warwick University management, adding any of your own words where they would be useful.
‼️RALLY RALLY RALLY‼️
In the last open day of the term, show up and support Warwick Stands With Palestine in showing prospective students and their parents the true colour of Warwick!
Join us on Saturday, 22nd of June from 12pm! Meet us at the Warwick Gaza Solidarity Encampment!
Benjamin Zephaniah said, ‘We have opened up a new front in Warwick.’ ‘We’ because the freedom of Palestine is for all of us. Free all people who are living under occupation from colonialism and imperialism. Free all of us everywhere. Transnational solidarity, pure and powerful.❤️
Ultimately Warwick students union is institutionally racist, that was a core assertion of our occupation. Yet, the racism, sexism and misogynoir black and brown officers have experienced this year has overwhelmingly been interpersonal.
Freedom of speech is indeed a “vital component of University life” so we
call on University Management to ensure that their misinformation does not misconstrue our actions.
We will continue to occupy until our demands have been met. The struggle of Palestinian, Arab and Muslim students on campus can no longer go unnoticed. Thank you to Palestine Community Foundation for all of their support ✊🏽💕
On day 14 of
@WarwickOccupy
, they write about their struggle against institutional racism on campus.
While they still await responses from
@warwickuni
and
@warwickSU
, we extend our solidarity to these students.
Read the piece at:

We spoke to
@theJeremyVine
about our demands to the university and the encampment as a space to reclaim the Piazza and reimagine the university as a place for education and peace, not for complicity in genocide and occupation! Listen here:
On Day 17 of Warwick Occupy’s takeover
@WarwickFoP
invited Ahmed AlNaouq, a journalist from Gaza, to speak about his life. He tells his story starting with the murder of his brother as a teen to being unjustly incarcerated in Egypt whilst trying to come to the UK to start his MA.
@uniofwarwick
Vice Chancellor Stuart Croft confirmed his complicity in Zionist genocide today when questioned by students and staff.
Despite being given the opportunity to denounce Zionist crimes, Croft could only muster silence before Gaza’s 50,000 martyrs. Shame!
A massive thank you to Warwick UCU for everything they have done for us and with us over the last month. Your support has been invaluable. Student-staff solidarity is so powerful ✊🏽✨
Warwick UCU welcomes the
@WarwickSU
’s engagement with
@WarwickOccupy
, as demonstrated by their new statement, and look forward to working alongside the SU and Warwick Occupy to fight racism on our campus in all its forms.
We are all currently taking some time to rest and reflect on the last 30 days so responses to messages may be a bit slow! We’re lucky to have each other as a support system and will be back to do more anti-racist organising very soon. Thank you all for your support, (1/2)

Day 7
Entering the 7th day of our occupation, we have now released our occupation demands. These demands are based on a collaboration of a wide range of students and staff from a range of different communities.
A huge thank you to
@MaliaBouattia
for writing about us for the Middle East Eye. It’s day 19. Term has ended. We’re still here and we will remain here until our demands are met.
Solidarity with

We could not have done it without all of your help and support. Without your 137 days, we could not have done our 30. Thank you so much for everything ✊🏽♥️
Congratulations! So hard fought for and so well deserved. Yet more proof that direct action and community organising works, action which is now more important than ever ✊🏿❤️🔥
Current postgraduate officer, now running for President engaged in misogynoir & called several black women officers ‘aggressive’. She has ignored several requests to apologise & in a December 2020 Board of Trustees meeting threatened to “rain legal hell fire” down upon officers +

Members of the collective are about to enter a meeting with SU management to ask for some accountability for their refusal to acknowledge their inaction.
#WarwickOccupy
After receiving confirmation from University Management that a formal dialogue with Warwick Stands With Palestine pertaining to our demands will finally be opened, we have decided to end our occupation of the Warwick Murdering Group’s IDL building.

Thank you to everyone who has donated. Every donation was celebrated as a show of solidarity for our anti-racist cause. We are still in need of funds. Please keep sharing our Just Giving page & donate if you can. Stay tuned. Warwick University is next. 🇵🇸
We have released a separate set of demands to the Students' Union and to the University, as both have failed in their duty of care to marginalised students. A full list of both sets of demands may be found below.
Our demands to the Students' Union:
A HUGE thank you to Warwick UCU for their support over the last 4 days - make sure to support your lecturers and seminar tutors in the upcoming strikes ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
Days prior to the start of our encampment, nearly 400 bodies were found in a mass grave at Al-Shifa hospital, and Israel's ground invasion on Rafah is imminent. The situation is dire, and every day of delay means complicity.
We demand that Management meet with us immediately.
🚨 PROTEST ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨
On Friday 21st May from 2pm - 4pm, we, along with
@UOWASS
and
@WarwickFoP
, will be marching from the piazza and taking a tour of Warwick University’s role in the Arms Trade.

The current disabled students officer engaged in All lives matter rhetoric. When the officer team were discussing the online teaching campaign, she, among other officers, pushed dangerous all lives matter rhetoric.
Shingai & Isabelle are not singularly culpable for the violence and hostility black and brown officers have faced this year. However, they are the only officers running for re-election who are responsible for this.
Some candidates currently running in this spring election who have been part of the Officer team this year have played a role in obstructing vital work to make the SU & university a safer space for marginalised communities.
After 7 months of refusing to heed to our demands and end their complicity in Israel's colonial genocide, this further delay is unacceptable. The processes of the Council have proven to be completely inefficient and utterly incapable of addressing the urgency of our demands.
The decision was taken to end the occupation at 5:30pm today. Read our statement below, following a joint statement that was agreed between
@OfficialUoM
and representatives from
@ManchesterSU
.
Thank you for the support we have received over the past week, it means the world! 🌎
Take a look at Black students’ Demands on Racism

Please read and share their demands & join them to ensure tangible changes are made for Black students at university level!
To The University of Warwick,
For the Black students at Warwick, words and statements are not enough. We expect our demands to be heard and want to see a tangible difference in how the University operates.
Below are our demands.
