Although I understand when people say classics are boring (descriptive writing, old language, etc), I still favour classics over newer books bc I think it's cool that these books inspired so many of the things we see/watch/act today

Suggesting a really thick classic book to a beginner is crazy to me, even if the language is simple to digest. If they're not used to classics, don't give them a huge one? It's very intimidating and unhelpful
