Hillsborough stadium had a long history of dangerous overcrowding incidents, including near misses in the 1988, 1987 & 1981 FA Cup Semi Finals. The deaths in 1989 weren’t the first crush deaths there & 1989 wasn’t even the first disaster at Hillsborough. Here is the history: -

How can a public inquiry function if there is no legal duty to tell the truth? How can there be no requirement for even the police to tell the truth? How can it be OK for junior officers to be bullied into deleting key evidence? How has it come about that we accept this?

What would they have shown? As it turns out, the specific tapes stolen probably didn’t show anything not picked up by TV cameras & other CCTV But what you have to remember is that SYP were incompetent, as well as corrupt They had to cover up things to hide their incompetence

Fatalities were only averted then by the quick thinking of an *off duty* senior South Yorkshire Police officer, who ordered the emergency gates to be opened. The response from Sheffield Wednesday’s chief executive when warned that people could have easily died….”Bollocks”

This hypocrisy of this guy, who was jailed in 2007 for killing a 25 year old through his dangerous driving, is breathtaking.

@Jayb1970NUFC @NufcEngland1966 It's what they do. They even deny killing their own at Hillsborough.

@EGHjustice96 I’m so sorry mate for what happened, for your loss, for the way you were treated afterwards, for the false hope you all got in 2012, for this country’s broken justice system

In the 1987 semi-final, serious overcrowding was observed at the Leeds v Coventry match, with Leeds fans crushed at the Leppings Lane, despite kick off being delayed by 15 minutes

There are so many things wrong with this rant by J Goldberg QC but I just wanted to look at one particular falsehood in this...the assertion that there were ‘good’ fans who arrived early and died, and ‘bad’ fans who arrived late at the back and killed them THREAD

Astonishing, narrative being spread even today, by South Yorkshire police ex-solicitor's QC, of a "riot" by Liverpool supporters at Hillsborough. The inquests jury concluded in 2016, after the longest case ever, that no misbehaviour by Liverpool fans contributed to the disaster.

TL:DR Hillsborough stadium had a long history of dangerous overcrowding incidents, including near misses in the 1988, 1987 & 1981 FA Cup Semi Finals These didn’t lead to fatalities because, unlike 1989, police took effective action At least 1 fan had died there prior to 1989

TL:DR The Hillsborough disaster can’t have been caused by ticketless fans as it was scientifically proven that there were fewer fans on the terraces than there were tickets sold. The inquest jury found unanimously in 2016 that fans did not cause or contribute to the disaster

I’ve found it nauseating in this last week to read commentators praising him and his ‘integrity’. Just because he has died doesn’t mean that he suddenly becomes a decent person

Re-upping this as some on here are still repeating false allegations about evidence from Sheffield local residents on the day of the Hillsborough disaster

I’d like to clear this up…there is no evidence that fan behaviour at Hillsborough on 15.4.89 was any different to any match of the era. Let’s look at the evidence…

10,100 tickets were sold for Liverpool’s terraces The HSE estimate in 1989 was that 9,974 fans entered the Leppings Lane The 2013 engineer’s report found 10,044 fans entered So both exercises found there were *fewer* fans on the terraces than the number of tickets sold

Continuing to hear about ticketless fans causing Hillsborough. Terraces were under capacity; issue was distribution

@TransalpinoO If it hadn’t been for Rogan Taylor & his party from the @WeAreTheFSA photographing Gate C just after the match to show no damage, it’s entirely possible that SYP could have stuck to the ‘fans forced the gate’ line & gaslighted everyone Probably the reason the CCTV disappeared..

I’ve been asked a few questions about the CCTV tapes stolen from Hillsborough stadium on the evening of the disaster, so thought I would do a thread on it This is the crime report for the theft from 21/4/89 Note the double underlining of the “NO PUBLICITY” instruction
