A lot of folks blade their hips at an angle away from the target while shooting. Try squaring your hips to the target and get your "nose over toes". Pin your firing side elbow close to your body - then R E L A X. Shots on!
Smell that?

Sometimes people are skeptical because our fees are low.
Our mission is to provide quality training with cost being as least of a barrier as we possible can. Check our reviews.
Reminder that you should introduce failure into your training. Shooting in ideal conditions will not expose any weaknesses beyond marksmanship. What about stoppage mitigation, reloads, trading up? Train. Always.
Training Objectives:
1) Don't hug your cover
2) Use the techniques and self-correct
3) Slow hits are better than fast misses
These are everyday people who come out in all kinds of weather to train. One of them started the entirety of their gun journey with us. You can do this.

We will draw a winner when we get around to it. We are pretty lazy.
Where else are you going to run with guns, mitigate malfunctions with a bag on your head, and eat lunch prepared by your instructors?
"That's not the way you do that!!"
No, it's A way to do it. We will explain why. Like it or don't. It's up to you.
Something we say a lot: Proximity negates skill. So your best bet is to work on tactics to create distance and work on marksmanship at various distances. Bad guys tend not to train that way. Here's a tip:
Test FMJ ammo to find something that performs at various distances...1/2
The first time you HAVE to do something should never be the first time you've done it.
Our most expensive course is 400 bucks for the weekend. Our mission is to provide an awesome training experience with as low a cost as possible.
Train. Always.
Staying in the fight is critical to survival. If you can't render self aid or buddy aid, you're screwed.
Come see us Aug 7 for 6 hours of BLS hands on training. No power points. Hit the website for details.
When re-holstering, look at the holster the entire time. Is there anything obstructing a clean re-holster?
This is where a lot of people get an involuntary bang.
We said what we said.
This is dropping on the site at 1300 AZ time today. But if you FOLLOW us and RETWEET this post, you might just WIN one. We will draw a winner Sunday (8/7/2022) evening.
June is practice your grip month. Give 10 minutes per day to practicing a beautiful, thumbs forward grip and pressing out from your chest picking up your front sight as soon as possible. Focus on that front sight and let the target blur in contrast.
Here is how we do it. Fundamentals courses (Carbine Fundamentals Clinic and Pistol Fundamentals Clinic) is $45 for 6 hours of training. We have only 5 star reviews on Google. It's good solid training on the range and not 1 PowerPoint slide. All skill levels welcome.
"You don't even have to aim" Stop.
It actually requires more training and "gunderstanding" to use a shotgun for self defense than any other readily available platform. Especially in enclosed environments. Don't rely on myths to save your life. Train. Always.
Do something everyday that contributes to your ability to survive and protect your tribe. Do 5 pushups or 55. Learn how to properly apply a tourniquet or do chest compressions. Make yourself think outside your comfort zone and then mitigate your discomfort with training.
Some folks freeze when they get a click instead of a bang and they can't see the gun. We train through that. As you progress, you should know what's up with the gun by the way it feels since the last bang. Train. Always.
All right.
We are giving away a Whoville Tactical shirt. To be considered do all of these things:
1. Follow this account
2. Comment here about which color you like best
3. Retweet this post.
Our goal is to become known throughout the US as a source of affordable, practical firearms training for those who want the skills to prevail on the worst day of their lives.
Advanced Pistol- vehicle today. We shot a windshield. Drove fast in reverse. Drove fast forward. Drove then exited and shot stuff. Shot from the ground. Shot from own vehicles in center axis relock. And much more. It was fun. The end.
No Fudd range for our courses. We train at a private facility. We stretch your skills and challenge your body, but you won't do more than you can. Progress your skill and confidence. Train. Always.
Our course and apparel prices are so low, we can't afford to do holiday discounts. Feel free to use code labor22 at checkout even though it won't do anything.
One of the most difficult things for newer shooters to master is picking up the front sight early in presentation to target and focusing on the front sight, letting everything else (and the target) blur in contrast.
Slowly dry practice this - remember your dry practice safety!
Every time we show this exercise, there is gnashing of teeth and Reeeeeeeeeee. The people here are advanced shooters and the drill has a particular purpose. 1) Can you FEEL a stoppage? 2) Can you mitigate it efficiently without seeing it? 3) Can you work this under stress?
Getting hits on target from close confines around obstacles takes a little figuring out. The first time you need to do it should not be the first time you've done it.
Come see us.
August is "Don't hug your cover" month.
Posting close to cover increases your risk of exposure when returning fire and decreases your ability to see if someone is flanking you.
You can "pie" in 64 slices instead of 16 when you increase your distance from cover
"I don't need to train. I was trained in the military."
Warfighting is not the same as defending yourself. Also, those skills are perishable. You are not as proficient as you think you are, unless you are training.
Dry fire challenge: 7 days. Slow motion draw and present only.
Focus on draw mechanics and picking up the front site on press out.
Who's in? We start tomorrow.
Post pics and videos.
To us, "Stance" supports the idea that you will be standing or static. You might be moving and/or in another position than standing. By teaching "posture", we help folks get behind the gun for maximum control using large muscle groups instead of small regardless of position.
You don't know you can do it, until you do it.
The first time to pull someone from supine to fireman's carry. The first time you offline a gun pointed at you. The first time you apply a tourniquet.
The first time you do any of these things should be in training.
Train. Always.
Carry every day.
Holsters should be more comforting than comfortable, but you can find comfort some holsters. Most of us have a box of holsters. Check out
@RedBalloonFans
. Need a good off-body option?
@ExUmbrisDesigns
is the way.
Just a reminder that we have courses for ALL skill levels. Everyone starts with us at the Pistol Fundamentals Clinic. Super new shooter friendly, but separate courses of fire for intermediate/advanced shooters.
Shotguns - you CAN use them for home defense. Are they ideal? Typically, no. House construction, layout, crossfire considerations, all of these things come into play. But shotguns are NOT easy and require training for self-defense. How does your 00 pattern at different ranges?
Here is a great drill that you can do at various distanced. You can also add a par time if you like.
We have adapted David Blinder's version somewhat.
Pro tip: Trigger reset is critical.
You dry fire for 10 minutes every day? Go to the range periodically? Good on ya.
Do you practice your medical skills ever? That's a perishable skill too.
Train. Always.
2/2 ...the same way that your carry ammo performs. Use that ammo to train with so you get consistent results. This will help you develop consistent habits and show you what shots you can and cannot take.
Focusing on the little things will make you more efficient and more effective. Draw high, make sure that cover garment is clear. If he rotates the elbow down he is able to shoot compressed with nothing forward of the muzzle. Notice the flagged thumb. Every motion has purpose.
"I got ccw certified" no more prepares you to defend your life than taking a karate class prepares you to get in the ring with Chuck Norris. Defending yourself is about learning to fight, not just learning to shoot. Take all the classes multiple times. Train. Always.
