A lot of folks blade their hips at an angle away from the target while shooting. Try squaring your hips to the target and get your "nose over toes". Pin your firing side elbow close to your body - then R E L A X. Shots on!

Reminder that you should introduce failure into your training. Shooting in ideal conditions will not expose any weaknesses beyond marksmanship. What about stoppage mitigation, reloads, trading up? Train. Always.

Something we say a lot: Proximity negates skill. So your best bet is to work on tactics to create distance and work on marksmanship at various distances. Bad guys tend not to train that way. Here's a tip: Test FMJ ammo to find something that performs at various distances...1/2

When re-holstering, look at the holster the entire time. Is there anything obstructing a clean re-holster? This is where a lot of people get an involuntary bang. We said what we said.

June is practice your grip month. Give 10 minutes per day to practicing a beautiful, thumbs forward grip and pressing out from your chest picking up your front sight as soon as possible. Focus on that front sight and let the target blur in contrast.

Here is how we do it. Fundamentals courses (Carbine Fundamentals Clinic and Pistol Fundamentals Clinic) is $45 for 6 hours of training. We have only 5 star reviews on Google. It's good solid training on the range and not 1 PowerPoint slide. All skill levels welcome.

"You don't even have to aim" Stop. It actually requires more training and "gunderstanding" to use a shotgun for self defense than any other readily available platform. Especially in enclosed environments. Don't rely on myths to save your life. Train. Always.

Do something everyday that contributes to your ability to survive and protect your tribe. Do 5 pushups or 55. Learn how to properly apply a tourniquet or do chest compressions. Make yourself think outside your comfort zone and then mitigate your discomfort with training.

Advanced Pistol- vehicle today. We shot a windshield. Drove fast in reverse. Drove fast forward. Drove then exited and shot stuff. Shot from the ground. Shot from own vehicles in center axis relock. And much more. It was fun. The end.

One of the most difficult things for newer shooters to master is picking up the front sight early in presentation to target and focusing on the front sight, letting everything else (and the target) blur in contrast. Slowly dry practice this - remember your dry practice safety!

Every time we show this exercise, there is gnashing of teeth and Reeeeeeeeeee. The people here are advanced shooters and the drill has a particular purpose. 1) Can you FEEL a stoppage? 2) Can you mitigate it efficiently without seeing it? 3) Can you work this under stress?

August is "Don't hug your cover" month. Posting close to cover increases your risk of exposure when returning fire and decreases your ability to see if someone is flanking you. You can "pie" in 64 slices instead of 16 when you increase your distance from cover

To us, "Stance" supports the idea that you will be standing or static. You might be moving and/or in another position than standing. By teaching "posture", we help folks get behind the gun for maximum control using large muscle groups instead of small regardless of position.

Shotguns - you CAN use them for home defense. Are they ideal? Typically, no. House construction, layout, crossfire considerations, all of these things come into play. But shotguns are NOT easy and require training for self-defense. How does your 00 pattern at different ranges?

Focusing on the little things will make you more efficient and more effective. Draw high, make sure that cover garment is clear. If he rotates the elbow down he is able to shoot compressed with nothing forward of the muzzle. Notice the flagged thumb. Every motion has purpose.

@JimKiernan4 We teach to lock the bolt back if you can and noodle with your fingers. If you cannot, then mortar the gun to get the bolt back and it generally takes care of itself. Then rack, insert mag, rack, reassess target.
