Special praise for this lad today and for the second half of the season - made himself undroppable and repaid that faith today with a commanding and assured display. He’s grown so much this season
#SAFC
At times, it seemed like he was the only one who had any standards, who truly understood what it meant for this club to be in the third tier, and how important it was to get out. He almost dragged us out single handedly. Almost, but not quite. He played his part. Deserves this.
Our first promotion for 15 years. Four years in League One. Until today, never won a play-off final in our history. Hadn’t won in front of fans at Wembley since 1973. You bet we’re going to enjoy this tonight.
#SAFC
Arguably the worst result in the club’s long history. Sunderland AFC should never be conceding 6 in the third tier. Never. But to a team in the bottom half who were playing League 2 football last season? Nothing short of a complete and utter disgrace. Where do we go from here?
Tonight was a reminder of what this club can be, of what this club is. What a fantastic performance. We could’ve had the tie won tonight. Also, Corry Evans. Wow. Simply outstanding.
All those Pickford haters get back in your fucking box, wrap yourself up and post yourself to the fucking South Pole then unwrap yourself and punch a polar bear. Send them in
#ENGCOL
It isn’t always acknowledged how much this young lad has been through. He’s done himself proud in his first season as a senior pro and will continue to develop and improve with us in the Championship.
Quick post before the celebrations begin🤣 but this was for you Dad, watching over me guiding me through the highs and lows of my first season in profesional football…and what a club to do it at

Maja has said he wants to sign.
The agent has told him not to sign.
These are key facts.
If/when Josh plays tomorrow it’s worth remembering those key facts. Nothing in his performances has suggested he’s agitating for a move. Ross has praised him. Back him
#SAFC
If you run around, get in peoples faces, don’t approach the game passively, be aggressive and show some personal pride then you’ll get the backing of our fantastic support on the pitch. Gooch epitomised that & others followed. Why haven’t we done this for the last 2 months?
#safc
😂🍺 Kevin Kyle has just told the story of Kevin Phillips pissing in a cheeky Geordie’s pint glass on a night out in Newcastle. The bloke drank it too.
#SAFC
No more “rocking all over League One” for this lad. Championship for him now 😎. What a servant he’s been these past 4 years. Played almost every position and just never stops or gives up. Bonus points for nullifying Bannan in the play offs. Class act.
We don’t want to be owned by crypto bros, despots, lunatics or chancers. We probably won’t mind if you’re not a multi billionaire.
We just want a normal group who can afford to run the club effectively and can make it a week without lying to us.
Too much to ask?
#SAFC
Peterborough had won 14 out of 18 home games prior to today. A draw is an excellent result, particularly under the circumstances, and suits us more than them. Great show of character from the lads. Still got players to come back as well. Onwards and upwards.
🔥 BONUS POD INCOMING 🔥
On Thursday we’ll be joined by a very special guest for a very special bonus pod...
It’s only
@WillGrigg
!
We will officially confirm his temperature, amongst other things

An upset... they've been in the Championship more recently than us and have consistently been in and around the top six under Ainsworth. Nobody within the
#SAFC
bubble thinks this is anything but a tough game
Sorry but Newcastle fans love nothing more than diverting conversation onto how underdeveloped and under funded Sunderland is, and laugh about it.
Now they suddenly care about appropriate investment into the region aye? Any card they can get their hands on they are playing.
🎻
We've just been informed that Jack Ross will be joining us for a very special edition of Wise Men Say!
Date TBC but as soon as we know that and other details surrounding it, we'll let you all know. It should be canny

Owners come. Owners go. Players sign. Players leave. Managers arrive. Managers depart. One thing remains constant. Sunderland Association Football Club. Tomorrow, they play the biggest game of their already extremely long League One season. Be there, we’re

Let’s show some appreciation for every last one of them. Where would we be without this man’s goals? His Wembley goal capped off an outstanding season. A wonderful player.
Listening to Jack Ross last night, it’s hard not to feel he’s the absolute right man for the job. Yes, we’ve had a wobble and some performances have been below par, but here’s a manager with a plan and an idea, who works hard and loves it here. A very eloquent, interesting guy.
How many positions has this lad played for us? Sometimes all in one game. He’d do anything for this club. He’s been here through it all with us. Nobody deserves this promotion more. One of our own.
Love is in the air! Olivia will be joined by her husband Brad today for their very first TV chat. We'll be hearing all about the ups and down of their relationship as they navigate married life ❤️
This is a horror show. A complete and utter embarrassment. 5-1 down in League One is just unacceptable for this club. What a shambolic, unprofessional performance. Shameful.
Everyone just needs to calm down here. Yes it’s disappointing to lose 3-0 to a team placed 21st in the 4th tier to send us out of EFL Trophy, but it means we can fully focus on achieving our 100 point target in the league
#SAFC
Massive credit to Sanderson today. He’s been excellent since coming into the side, but to sit in the middle of a makeshift back three and marshal it the way he did today showed maturity beyond his years. Nothing short of outstanding.
Mentioned by
@goldys_logic
on the pod, but worth reiterating,
@mp_1825
did his best for this club and you can tell he got it. Clearly meant the world to him to play at a club this size. Anyone who’s met him will tell you what a decent, genuine bloke he is. All the best Max.
Of course it comes after we should’ve scored. Of course it’s someone who hasn’t scored for ages. Of course it’s calamitous defending. Of course, it’s fucking Sunderland.
Tonight, Morecambe will become the 96th different team that Sunderland have played in the Football League since their formation. If Sunderland win, they'll have beaten every single team they've played in the league at least once
#SAFC
The City has come on so much in the last few years, and there’s a lot to be hopeful about. The scumbags on the streets tonight should be dealt with properly. Just disgusting. The good people in this city should plough on through these arseholes and make the place what it can be.

People can slag Barton off all they like but what goes on on the pitch stays on the pitch. Hopefully Parkinson invites him into his office after the game for a glass of red and a chat and then puts the rest of the bottle over that little maggot’s head.
Booing your own players onto the pitch is rotten behaviour btw. It’s a tiny, tiny minority but a handful of people booing cuts through.
Was good to see people confront them yesterday, they got it from all directions.
Oh, and the substitution turned the game for Sunderland 🤷
This is arguably the biggest summer in the club’s history. Almost an entire squad of failures out of contract and a chance to reboot ahead of fourth season in the third tier. We have to get the recruitment right. Another season of failure is not an option.
Wonder if Keane will drop some truth bombs.
Starting with who was on the interview panel. If people won’t take it from us, maybe they’ll take it from him…
Really sad for Coleman. Thanks for all he tried to do in difficult circumstances. New era now though and the new man must be ready and waiting given how swiftly this has been dealt with
#safc
Shit fans for not selling 48,000 tickets to watch our reserves beat their U23’s.
Then “sad” for celebrating the goals. This shit crack wasn’t predictable AT all was it?
Great to see the Sunderland disease sweeping 21k SC sales despite a 4th consecutive season in Div 3
This plummet came after 21 consecutive years of never finishing lower than 23rd in the pyramid
#SAFC
had only been here once in 127 years of league football
Sensational fans man
Hi everyone,
#safc
might be in the third tier of English football, but they’re into the third round of the League Cup. Guess who isn’t joining us? I’ll give you a clue...
It's not a career wrecker.
Bruce - Hull & Villa
O'Neill - Rep of Ireland
Poyet - Real Betis
Advocaat - Fenerbache & Holland
Allardyce - England & Palace
Moyes - West Ham
Nine managers in six years but now Chris Coleman is ready to take on the "impossible job" at Sunderland. It's been a career wrecker. A CV destroyer. But someone has to get in there and sort it out. One day. Surely? I hope he gets some financial backing as well.
Anything else that you'd like to blame us for tonight?

O'Shea might be shite, but he's a 37 year old bloke who has probably played more games than anyone this season and should've been phased out 3 years ago. At least he makes himself available to play
#SAFC
If Cheltenham want £1.5m for Eisa then pay it, IMO. If we’re serious about going straight back up we need to be bringing in our top targets and making a statement. (GB)

have won 2 of 2 home games this season backed by massive numbers. Last season, without fans, we won just 10 home games at home, and lost 6. Never let anyone tell you our supporters are the problem. We’re an asset to this club.
People ask for players who care and want to play for the shirt. Here’s a bloke who gives everything for the shirt. If you were one of the ones who put the boot in on here then have a word with yourself.
