Big narrative that BOB going on heater is *only* reason FLA is where they are. While its a major if not #1 reason, FLA still boasts the #1 skater in playoffs (Tkachuk) & #1 defensive forward (Barkov). Their Defense just outplayed Carolina's forecheck & canes defensive unit. TEAM

see a lot of people discounting this by Gretzky. 99 is someone who watches Barkov live a lot in recent years. Hes played against and definitely watched all the guys people are mentioning (gainey, bergeron, fedorov, etc) as better thn Barkov ... He means it & its worth something

@miehmer @JeffVeillette Tkachuk had zero goals. Barkov, Floridas top center had 1 goal going into the series against the leafs and didn’t put up numbers. Neither is them turned it up and yet they won. It’s a team game. This idea that “they need players with extra gear” is absurd.

@TMarchegiani13 Coyle enters crease on own. At this point hes already impeding swaysmans ability on his own. Coyle loses battle for positin focusin on puck not boxing out. NHL allows push offs in net front battles. Coyle went over easily. Thats why they couldn't overturn call on ice.

I know Tkachuk gets the top billing & man i dont mind it. But need to be said, Barkov was throwong hits from first shift through the end. He was a beast physically, winning back pucks, breaking them out. Both 16&19 played like captains. Heck, a few more dis too (gus eks montour)

say what you want abt barkov. Where was pushback from Tkachuk? Adjustments from Maurice? Montour was largely nonfactor offensively. FLA got a little too dependent on point shots. Lot of good, lot of opportunities for improvement. This is not over. G1 result doesnt change chances

Its not "just fine". Volume is one measure. Accuracy/Precision is another measure for offense. They severely lack finishing precision and accuracy. That does matter and should be talked about until they fix it. Wanna play togjt games? ok but better bury your chances.

- Lundell is about the only one I'd be cautious to move. Hes cost effective 3C on a cup competing team that relies heavily on Cs for D system. - Zito&team earned trust to go off board or get a name no one is thinking of - Maurice future usage of player is more important thn cost

Not sure this is the case. Slavin & Burns were outplayed by 3 maybe 4 FLA defenders. Aho and every forward were out played by 5-6 FLA forwards. They had two goalies outplayed. Aho, their #1 player, lost his composure multiple times.

There is ZERO excuse for playing Mark Pysyk at Forward. This is why you carry 23 players. But they cant bc they wont waive or trade pysyk and his cap hit is restricting. Playing Pysyk at F hurts his trade value, borgstrom value and confidence. Pysyk is awful rather play 11F.

The games scoring is continually going up. Defenders are encouraged to cheat before possession is established in the defensive zone... Dont need to remove Offsides to get to the results people want. The bluelines create chokepoints which creates offensive chances both ways.

We can complain about refs. Maurice will have to work them.. But Panthers need to put in rearview and keep doing what they are doing. They had the momentum and better play!

To those who want Bobrovsky to sit .... How does that help the defense and Bobrovsky get on the same page and get momentum, comfortability? You need to ride through this. Because Bob isnt the sole issue (see him saving bacon in 2nd). #FlaPanthers

Refs won G2 for FLA. 5min major on #37 when it shoulda been 2min coz that's what Bennett got. We lose a guy after 10mins. Puck over glass not called, neglect 5on3 Game changer right there. #29 gets called when initially non-call coz Barkov is hurt. Garbage. #oilers

@Buccigross I love Bobrovsky and always supported him since he wntered the league. But Conn Smythe should be Barkovs. Bob was not the best goalie in 2 of the series. FLA team defense led by Barkov has been outstanding. Zetterberg won Conn Smythe based on a PK shift... Barkov does it daily.

FLA and Zito get an A They hit every box they said they wanted: Giroux, Chiarot, 2 depth Defenders who play like chiarot, & (given the slim trades on Monday) they recouped a 6th leveraging cap space.

This is what #timetohunt needs to do and understand. Stop relying on board battles and point shots solely. Be a true support option, work to get into middle of the ice using that support, and take quick shots

At this point, Id rather the top guys not care & get Boughner fired. I dont need to see Barkov or Huberdeau give any more effort this year. I need to see guys gone. I need to see legit NHL quality players & coaches brought in. Not Coors Lite versions. Ok. The good stuff.
