Today Oregon recognizes Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Indigenous Peoples’ Day recognizes Native people are the first inhabitants of the Americas, including the lands that later became the United States of America. And it urges Americans to rethink history.
Due to wildfire and hazardous air quality conditions, LOSD schools will be closed on Monday, Sept. 14. Based on the current forecast, we anticipate school resuming on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and the LOSD Grab and Go meal pickups happening on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

District Librarian Miranda Doyle and her mighty husband, Mark, went to Chile and Bolivia. "We enjoyed the Salar de Uyuni (salt flats) in Bolivia as we traveled through the Altiplano. It was cold but gorgeous! On our last day in Chile, we also saw a partial solar eclipse."

LO School Board adopted the Black History Month Resolution. Visit to learn what the LOSD community is doing to recognize and celebrate Black lives the month of February, and all year long.
Counseling support will be available at Lakeridge High School tomorrow, 9/7. This counseling support is for all students and families in our community to access. You can access this service by calling 503-534-2319 to schedule a virtual or in person meeting.

Today is World Down Syndrome Day, March 21, 2023. The date 3-21 represents three copies of the 21st chromosome! It is a global awareness initiative that advocates for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of people with Down syndrome and their vital role in our communities.

Lakeridge High School student, Claire Sarnowski, received the 2020 Legacy Award for her amazing efforts in helping pass the legislation to mandate Holocaust and genocide education be part of Oregon’s curriculum. She is truly and inspiration!

It’s been a banner year for LOSD schools in the Oregon Battle of the Books! Westridge took second place in their Regional and Hallinan took first place in their Regional, with River Grove making it to finals, Oak Creek to semi-finals, and Lake Grove and Forest Hills to quarters.
The LOSD Kindergarten Transition program launched this week. Incoming Kindergarten students from Lake Grove and River Grove are already settling into school routines! (Lake Grove is hosting the River Grove Kindergarten Transition program due to summer construction).

Bus routes for elementary school hybrid in-person are now available on the district website under the transportation department (or see email). Routes will begin in conjunction with hybrid in-person, starting Tuesday., Feb. 23, for kindergarten and first grade students.
Juneteenth, a day celebrating emancipation of those who had been enslaved. In LO, many are marking the day with a gathering hosted by Respond to Racism and the City of Lake Oswego at Millennium Park Plaza, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
