Status effects are personally (as a player) and professionally (as a designer) of interest to me. I wrote some thoughts on them on my blog. I also share some information about how I've tried to approach this in my own work
This is the game I've been working on for the past 3 years as the lead game designer. I'm so grateful and honored to be a part of this project and I really hope y'all enjoy it.
We're proud to announce Tempest Rising - our next gen RTS!

Happy birthday to me! I'm 37 years old today. No better present for me than to be able to be a part of Tempest Rising, something I can help bring to the world for you all.
It's a real gift to me to see the reactions to our announcement. Can't wait to show off more soon :)
Favorite way to construct buildings in an RTS?
Dozer - unit that only builds structures
ConYard - building that builds structures
Worker - Harvester unit that also builds structures
Core - unit that turns into a structure
Am I missing any big ones?
I keep wondering if me being the design lead on this is some kind of dream I'll eventually wake up from. But hey, if it is, don't wake me.
This is something I've dreamed of my whole life and I'm immensely glad I've gotten this opportunity.

What is your favorite Construction Yard or Command Center in an RTS? And which of the below are your favorites?
If you had to choose, would you say you preferred smaller scale RTS (e.g. 30 units/squads or less) or larger scale (more than 200 units)

Mine is super simple. I love the ability to see a situation and react to it. Reactions, far more than planning, are what I find fun in RTS.
This is why I think I've been drawn to games with shorter planning loops and more room for reactive play, like C&C and COH in particular.

is at 33 and I'm with the remarkable people at
@Dream_Harvest
working on a cyberpunk RTS called
@NeuroSlicers
I've done some contract work too but this is a big milestone for me
The GDF have potent T2 support vehicles like the Conms Rig and Shieldmaiden to serve as force multipliers for their army, while the Dynasty have the repair of the Salvage Van and the burst damage of the Porcupine...
What are some of your favorite alternate gameplay modes in RTS?

There’s no more time to prepare. Hyperspace has been weaponized and we are the only line of defense against this unknown threat, Commander.
It’s time to show them the strength of the Hiigaran fleet.
Homeworld 3 is available now:
Is it important to you that an RTS tries to 'sell' its fiction to you in-game? For instance, in C&C and StarCraft units just 'appear' next to the Barracks, but in Dawn of War 2 units are dropped off in front of the command post in various ways, which 'explains' how they arrive
Just here to express my deep and abiding love for mobile factories

BLOWN AWAY that something *I* wrote made it into PC Gamer. This is... life goal territory.
I remember reading this as a kid. The thought of getting something I wrote into this magazine is...
I'm at a loss for words
But uh, not in the article. Which is like 3500 words long
What is one RTS faction specific mechanic that you just love?
Examples:
walker hard points from Universe at War
Zerg Creep from Starcraft
Nod Disruption Towers from C&C3
Mongol Oovoo from Age4
