I've decided this place is more bad than good and I think im gonna fully move to bluesky. To the people I follow and have met over time here, I had fun. Anyone who needs to contact me, use my email or discord. (

This is Drawing For Nothing, an art book for the animated movies that never were or didn't get the chance they deserved. I'm very excited to announce the release of the first installment! I would absolutely love to know what you all think.
In 1985 there was apparently a E.T. spoof movie called P.P. The Planetary Pal and it was stolen before it could get released anywhere. Does someone want to send me 12 dollars via kofi and to buy the magazine with the interview with the director and I'll scan it
@hyperprisms
That's what I'm saying! This looks like shit and honestly a film shouldn't allowed to be tampered with after its theatrical release unless it's a vital change by an ARTIST. This change does not feel like it came from an artist.
I was recently sent a reel of approx. four episodes for the partially lost 1957 animated television show "Colonel Bleep." It's not known which episodes it contains and unfortunately it's decayed to the point where that's not possible to decipher at the moment. (1/2)

Fun fact most arcades during the 80s didn't use carpet that looked anything like this. These patterns weren't adapted until the mid 90s. Here's a compilation of actual arcade floors from the 80s.

Tons of people back then opposed trans people. The story of Peter Alexander is a very good example of this, he was ostracized from his county and wasn't allowed to be wed as a man or even have access to reassignment surgery. It's just that now the hate has a bigger spotlight.

Yeah this is something I wasn't taught in college. Apparently people would kidnap free black people from the north, tear up their manumission papers and sell them along with their children as slaves in the south.
@TopazTwt
It's ok! People keep sharing this poster with the 1928 year without actually knowing the story behind it, just hoping more will see this. The poster is either from 1928 or 1929, and given Mickey never appeared in a cartoon with gloves until '29, it's safe to assume that's it
You can mention "James Baxter" on anything and your average "animation fan" shits themselves like yeah he's great but why is nobody talking about how this project was headed by Lauren Faust??
This Medusa movie James Baxter was working on. Lost the director in 2014 due to creative differences, then 2019 was canceled and The Emoji Movie 2 was released in its place. This pencil test is by legend James Baxter.
Bento Box has announced the development of a new 'GUMBY' series titled 'GUMBY KIDS.' A first look at the series will be shown at The Annecy International Animation Festival next week.
In addition, an adult animated series based on the franchise will also be produced.

He only wrote the books, he didn't illustrate them. This illustration (and most in Dahl's books post 1976) was done by Quentin Blake.
@viperwave
lmfao it's worse than that when he finally ran out of time and the bond company had to possess it he frantically had to make storyboards to show what the story looked like and even then they had to guess for certain parts

It actually scientifically makes the soda taste better! When stored in a plastic bottle the taste is tainted by the plastic beginning to pollute the drink. It's safe but it definitely changes the taste. The same thing happens in cans, which also have a plastic lining.
I'm happy to announce the first stable version of The Lost Media and Research Handbook. This book is written for those who are just getting into lost media hunting, need a refresher, or just like deep dive researching. Tell me what you think!

The boarding is fucking amazing but I feel like it was seriously wasted on it being a fucking minecraft animation. It's just too good to be restricted to blocks.

was always going to be called โA Day with Wilbur Robinson,โ like the original book. However some execs felt that title was too soft and wanted to change it. Here are two of the rejected ones.

I have but thinking ijbol is better than a simple lol is dumb. Like you can actually say LOL irl without sounding dumb. Can't say the same about someone going "eegbole"
@kashwiddakay
I really need to explain it on the website. When a released movie is included its because it was significantly handicapped during its production and the final product does not fully represent what was originally intended and suffered because of it.
That's why I'm asking for donations to buy the appropriate materials and have the funding to have this film cleaned and scanned (if its salvageable) so it may be available for free to the public. If anyone wants to help, here's the link! (2/2)

Oh wow!! Cool to see him get more recognition. Bugg was also a freelance artist for the Harry Volk Jr. Art Studio, which was an early clipart company. Here's one of Bugg's drawings for them.
@PeanutsNoCont
If yall read the strip Charlie is actually usually a dick to the other kids, which is why the other kids tend to bully him in return. The comic has a lot of mutual hatred that was mainly just turned on Charlie in the cartoon lol.
When I was 13 I wrote an article about a lost Will Smith music video and that domino effected into Warner Bros. releasing the video officially on their YouTube channel

@EsmeMarion
No prob! If you want to know more about Dahl's history with racism, the Oompa Loompas were originally pygmy caricatures and its reflected in their original illustrations (pre-Quinten Blake). Though it was changed by the 70s its still fairly obvious in the writing.

This is so fucking ugly not just in an "ew ai" way but I actually hate looking at it. It feels so unnatural and sterile and machined. Atrocious work.
@DisneyAPromos
Holy shit people Mickey Mouse is not entering public domain, just the cartoon Steamboat Willie and that SPECIFIC Mickey iteration. And even THEN that version of Mickey design being PD is a grey area. Mickey's early designs are trademarked, these are trademarked images.
@ampol_moment
According to Bird she didn't start crying she was just shocked and wasn't entirely sure how to respond to the situation. As for the other women, they were quite proud and even congratulatory towards Kitt for saying what they couldn't.
@KellytoyDK
The wiki was sent a very threatening letter regarding the leak of episode 847 of Sesame Street and they don't want to risk having that happen again with someone as big as Viacom. The current copy of Blue Prints came from a leak. Also the message you posted is a year old?
My dad found a Garfield sticker that's been trapped in an arcade machine since at least 1991, I have scanned him here to share with the masses so he will be known.

That's what most people think! So you're fine, haha. Been working on a documentary about this for years so hopefully I can set the record straight soon.
Another update on the Colonel Bleep reel. The canister has been drained but it's going to have to sit and dry for at least three months to finish the process. I'll check on it monthly and see if it improves in that time. It's improving, but slowly.
@LSuperSonicQ
Dude you're great but this kinda comes off as disrespectful? This is not the context you should be talking about searching for a pilot. This was a woman who created many things, and should not be tied to simply being the me and my friends creator.
@PeanutsNoCont
Same people who see the copyright notice on garfield say 1978 when he is fucking standing upright with gigantic eyeballs talking about the new iphone
@NonsenseIsland
For everyone wondering, it can't be added to D+ because Disney hasn't had the distribution rights for maybe two decades. They're owned by Waterman Entertainment now. It's complicated.
A lot of times a lost film gets found by breaking copyright law or recording a screening at an archive and all the sudden a bunch of historians whine about how "unethical" it is like dude who fucking cares
@catsuka
The image they used is NOT from Ray Gunn, it is from The Spirit, a feature Brad Bird was working on with Jerry Rees that was canceled decades ago.

Fair use is just a doctrine and any judge can easily rule against it if they felt otherwise. Gooseworx could easily sue and win.
Advocates for a new cel animated movie don't seem to understand that 90% animation cel, punchers, and cel paint manufacturers went out of business years ago. Some of the equipment needed to do it professionally again literally is no longer made in bulk.
While researching the history of the Panic Pete toy I discovered a weird, almost fetus-like variant of the toy that literally has no other documentation but this picture that was on the factory's website.
@kashwiddakay
Correct however it's rare that the movie is handicapped to such a degree that it bombs because of it. That's were it counts, that's where I think it wasn't given a proper chance of success. Because the idea wasn't properly executed.
Ok MS Paint artists, you think you're so cool making art with what many consider the most primitive paint program... try again with SuperPaint, the first color paint program. (from 1973!)
Insanely disrespectful. This woman killed herself in front of her peers and you're turning it into a "haha creepy" joke. Disgusting. Chubbock was an kind woman and her memory and work is tainted by unfeeling, unsympathetic vermin like you.

That person would be me and no I didn't steal the og files. The files were never stolen to begin with. These were shared with me by a crew member who was on the film for a short time.

I'll be real as a record collector yeah I usually hold them "properly" but don't care much if I touch the grooves or anyone else does for that matter. Everyone touched the grooves when these were still a mainstream audio format. If you got bitchy about it you were an audiophile.
Months ago I was researching for a video on the history of Hot Topic that unfortunately didn't go anywhere. But during that research a friend of mine sent me a picture of a Hot Topic shirt from the late 2000s and I still can't believe it's real
I just recently had the honor in sharing "Living Above the Mouse's Ear," a 1985 surrealist animated short film that was intended for a home release by Vestron but was rejected at the presentation. It was never given a public release before this point.
@RavenLynClemens
Hot Topic was selling Twilight and Spongebob merch in the 2000s. I'm sick of people being so revisionist about the store's past. It isn't really all that different than it was!
Adding to the long list of things we need to fix about the police, they also need to be educated on what young people are into so they don't mistake fucking Freddy Fasbear as a terrorist symbol
They thought these were terrorist / shooter symbols and that โbe ready Oct 27โ was the day things were gonna happen. So when we were drawing high-res foxy, the police questioned us if we had anything to do with the mysterious message.
He also asked โwhatโs a puppsicle?โ (Cont)
