Voters at Milton Road Library get to experience the rare sight of voting from the back of a car as we've had problems getting into the building … hopefully we'll be in soon but for now our polling staff are doing a great job ensuring early voters can still cast their vote!

#OurDay We're still sorting this morning's post. Since the General Election was called we've received 7,120 applications to register to vote, of which: * 2,321 want to vote by post/proxy * 535 are from British nationals living overseas * The oldest applicant is 101 years young!

From 4 May, at the City Council elections, you will need photo ID when you go in to a polling station to vote. If you don't have the ID you need, you can apply for free voter ID from next Monday 16 January.

All of our polling station sites have a female member of staff available to carry out ID checks if requested We have also assessed our stations and either identified a suitable private space, or provided a temporary privacy screen for anyone requesting their ID check in private
Sisters wearing niqab, burqa or chador etc, can ask to have their photo ID checked in a private area by a female member of staff Most polling stations should have these provisions in place. Should you encounter one that doesn’t, we’d like to know: (4/) 🔗

Elections will take place in all 14 wards of the city on May 6th, all 42 seats are up for election. This is because ward boundaries have changed and all seats on the council must be re-elected to represent the new wards. Each ward has three councillors.
