Hi I just want to share that I’ve started my first week as an editorial assistant for Wednesday Books and St. Martin’s Press!!! This is truly a dream come true, and I can’t believe I get to work with such a phenomenal team 🥰♥️♥️
Well, I'm an assistant editor now🥹Here's to working with the absolutely amazing people and books at
@WednesdayBooks
and
@StMartinsPress
. And to building my own list!🖤
day 999 of asking for the messiest, most unhinged romance!! i need people to look at these characters and be like oh you deserve each other but only bc no one else would be able to deal with you
#mswl
now i'm just thinking more random 2024
#mswl
things... i'd also love to see more epic romance! sweeping, fated love stories with world-changing stakes, different lifetimes, etc. i also love romances with fairytale and/or folklore sensibilities💖
thinking about what i'd like to see more of in 2024 and i'd be thrilled to get more cryptid submissions (in any genre)! also anything with eldritch vibes, weird things in the woods, or incomprehensible cosmic horrors 😇
#mswl
Congratulations to
@tesia_tee
, whose DEATHLY FATES will be a published book!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
So happy it found a home with
@vnssaguirre
at
@WednesdayBooks
, fit like a glove!!! (...or was it fate? 😉)
yes!! it means the world to me every time an author takes the time to write me a nice note. to my bosses, even better. it goes such a long way. and i cherish every one
hot tip because it's come to my attention that authors dont know this - if something goes well, write that long grateful note to your publishing team, publicists, marketing ppl - and cc all their bosses. even if it seems formal/weird/you have a casual rship with yout team, do it.
I’m so thrilled to announce that THE GOOD VAMPIRE’S GUIDE TO BLOOD AND BOYFRIENDS, my gay vampire romcom about mental health, will be published in 2025 by
@wednesdaybooks
/
@MacmillanUSA
!!!
i won't have time to look through
#LatinxPitch
as much as i want to, but throwing it out there that i'm always looking for Latine stories and always love to see them 🫶
Hi
#PitMad
! I’m liking pitches on behalf of Sonali Chanchani at
@FolioLiterary
. If I ❤ your pitch, please send your query and the first 10 pages of your manuscript to Sonali according to her submission guidelines () with
#PitMad
included in the subject
i love stories that encourage you to be kind despite The Horrors. i love stories that celebrate gentleness as a strength. this is a vinland saga appreciation post 🫶
It's cover reveal time! 🎉 We're SO EXCITED to share with you some of our spring/summer 2022 covers! Check out the blog post to see all the covers + descriptions:
I want a science fiction novel about a unionization movement among spaceship workers, whether laborers on ships, docks, or ancillary industries. Like, not focused on the SF technologies just pure labor activist realism in an SF setting.
@Emily_Gurr
I’m shocked at the lack of empathy in some of the replies. Obviously if you need to work you need to work, understandable, but if limiting time spent outside saves lives it’s a no-brainer

To combat social isolation, may I suggest FaceTime or Skype? We are social distancing exactly so people like the elderly and the immunocompromised can live and let live
As I search for a children’s editorial or agent assistant position, I’ve started freelance developmental editing. My preferred genres for manuscript edits or query critiques are MG, YA, and romance, but I’m flexible. If you know anyone, send them my way! Rates can be discussed.

For American Dirt, the book is full of stereotypes and just plainly incorrect statements but what I think has fueled more criticism is the way the book was marketed as “THE migrant novel” when other latinx writers have been writing similar stories more authentically.

There’s plenty of articles on the importance of diverse representation that can explain it with more grace than I could. Read a few to learn more about why it’s so important that people who have been historically underrepresented/stereotyped are portrayed on screen
I'm working as a receptionist, waiting to hear back from MFA programs. Most nights I go to Larry's, a dive bar, and spend said receptionist $$ on beers and the jukebox. I'm writing and writing and writing...and I have no idea what will come of it, if anything.

Respectfully, please read the many well-written, nuanced essays on this topic. It’s not about cultural appropriation. Good writers can write good stories of other cultures. The problem is shutting out latinx writers’ stories in favor of this harmful stereotype-filled one.

ooh ok echoing elizabeth street cafe, also rudy's (10/10 bbq but like no veggie options), veracruz tacos, bouldin creek cafe. For things to do: the blanton, south congress, the Bats™️, mayfield park (hiking/peacocks), town lake (canoeing). and imo 360 bridge > mt bonnell!
