Hey all, I've decided to start my own Raptors newsletter!
Introducing 'Raptors in 7,' where I will provide opinions/analysis of the team. Hope you'll join :)
First post is on Scottie Barnes, the great promise, the missteps, and the needed patience:
"This is completely BS, this is shame. Shame for the referees, shame for the league...if that's the case, just let us know so we don't show up for the game."
Darko Rajakovic went OFF at the refs after a Raptors 1-point loss, after some suspect 4th quarter calls.
DeMar is so beloved in Toronto that if he won a chip with the Bulls he could probably come through to show it off and Raptors fans would FILL the streets.
Last two years Kawhi basically played fuck, marry, kill with the Raptors, Clippers, Spurs.
Toronto had the best sex it's had in 26 years, can't be mad about that.
James Harden on the Raptors:
"That was one of the toughest series I've played in just because of their switching, athleticism, length... they throw different defences at you, box-and-ones and zones and mess up the game. Credit to Nick Nurse, they're a resilient team."
Fred VanVleet on missing the triple-double:
"My teammates don't give me the Westbrook treatment and get out the way so I'm gonna have to have a word with them."
Vince Carter shared his thoughts on Broussard's comments about Toronto as a city on 'The VC Show'
"One thing Toronto is NOT is an awkward city for an African American."

Goran Dragic getting all giddy about playing with KD only to get swept in the first round and then watch KD join the Raptors would be quite spectacular.
Pascal Siakam commented on Section 119 wearing nothing but 43 and what the experience tonight was like:
"To see that whole section with my jersey, it means the world to me."
Luka Doncic's opening statement post-game:
"Congratulations to Canada, they played great. They have one of the best players in the world and it was really tough to guard him."
#FIBAWC
Nick Nurse on potential White House visit:
"We're here, let's visit Trudeau. We're Canada's team."
Said that plans are already in the works for the visit to Parliament Hill. Haven't heard from the White House.
Yeah, KD's got a whole lotta respect for the Raptors:
"This is a championship organization and you respect how they approach the craft everyday. You know Nick Nurse is gonna have them prepared, they've got a lot of young guys that'll sure run through a wall for Nick."
Masai Ujiri says that while fans are entitled to their opinion with regards to the team's performance, a line was crossed specifically with Pascal Siakam.
KD says he spent time last night thinking about what Nick Nurse would throw his way in terms of schemes because "he's the type of coach that keeps you up at night"
When Pascal Siakam was drafted 27th he was compared to Bo Outlaw and in 4 seasons he's won MIP, a chip, been an All-Star and made the All-NBA Second Team. People wanna talk about ROI on a contract he hasn't started yet? Take a minute and think about the ROI on his rookie deal.
Pascal Siakam before having made a single contribution on the court:
- Stepping outside his comfort zone to text the younger guys and check on them
- Been the most vocal and engaged person on the bench
- Hosted the team Halloween party
This is tremendous leadership.
Scottie considers Justin Champagnie and Isaac Bonga the best huggers on the team. Says he was scared to hug Fred at first but Fred hugged him right back.
"Something about Fred's hug is just heartwarming... OG too."
Siakam says part of the extended conversation with Embiid after was apologizing for unintentionally hitting him in the face, says he felt awful about it.
Beat defending champ and No. 1 Spain
Beat No. 2 USA
Beat No. 5 France
Beat No. 7 Slovenia
Canada earned its first ever FIBA World Cup medal the hard way.
So proud of this team 🥲
Raptors have had the 4th pick three times in their history. The first two brought Vince Carter and Chris Bosh to the franchise, now Scottie Barnes.
You know the vibes.
Precious Achiuwa tells
@Kayla_Grey
on the broadcast that Fred VanVleet came through with a couple spots for him and Scottie Barnes on the private jet after their flight kept getting delayed.
chris boucher has sacrificed his body time and time again for the team, this time it's his face. his energy level was what started to ignite the raptors tonight when they were down, he's been a true impact player this season.
nothing but respect.
Masai Ujiri during the season about heavy minutes:
"Some of it is to put them in those situations because, what's a playoff situation going to be eventually when these guys play? It's going to be like that, it's them playing in heavy situations. We have to learn these things."
all season we talked about the raptors' youth and how much they needed to learn and when everything was on the line it was they who came through and the two most experienced players who fell way short
I've been pretty vocal about Dillon Brooks being a coward with his trash talking/cheap shots and that stands. Still, you have to move pretty low as a team to get a report like that out. Where's that "under any circumstance" energy from teams when people commit actual crimes?
Dillon Brooks on Noah shooting analytics at OVO helping with his shot:
"In Toronto they got this machine that helps you with your arc and I just had that number in my head every single time."
Thad Young will bring solid defence across a couple positions, playmaking, and a veteran presence in the locker room. Has a good relationship with OG Anunoby as well. He'll represent a good return for Dragic imo.
