Google itself is actually just one js file with a massive SQLite db. I heard they use handlebars for the frontend and they're running on digital ocean
New shader I've been working on, again made with react-three-fiber
Check it out and try playing with the settings:
Also, try clicking and dragging around
I built a Pinterest clone that uses AI to find similar images
I crawled tumblr and collected lots of images, then used a model to get vector embeddings. When you click an image it finds the most similar embeddings and returns the images

@rithmio
held me hostage and made me explain the code for this button
he made a whole video breaking everything down
link to full video in the next tweet
this inspired me to look through my own projects
this is just the software stuff from the last couple years. before that I was doing shopify when I was like 16-18
in total it's about 12-14 projects
some didn't ship or nobody cared, some made money, some got lots of attention
"fear is the mind killer" — Dune
"scared money don't make no money" — YG
"brilliant thinking is rare, but courage is in even shorter supply than genius" — Thiel

- Apple celebrates creators through the ages
- Nike celebrates athletes
- Linear and Vercel celebrate the craft of software
- Visualize Value celebrates deep thinkers
This does not feel like a coincidence

I think most people are more capable than they think. They sell themselves short by giving up early.
If you persist, you'll probably be surprised by what you can do.
HTML/CSS (and very little JS) Cube
Each face is a <div> with CSS transforms applied. The animations are also CSS
Used a few lines of JS to track mouse position on mousemove for the hover interaction
I made this weird moving gradient thing with react-three-fiber
react-three-fiber is weird at first when you're used to normal three.js but eventually starts to make sense

A lot of sites nowadays are look less like websites and more like apps, which is awesome. The possibilities are endless
I really like the bottom navbar theme I've seen in a couple places as well
I wanted a calendar wallpaper and also wanted to test coding with GPT4, so I asked it to help me make a small tool in React that lets me change colors using Leva, and download the image
It does need to be guided sometimes, but it's really smart

I did this on
Used a subtle inner shadow that makes it look like light is reflecting off the top of the icons
I also used a subtle gradient for the background, with a lighter grey at the top and darker at the bottom. I think that adds to the effect
With dark mode, it’s harder to create depth because shadows aren’t as visible.
Instead of relying on the absence of light, try creating reflective surfaces to add depth. This can be achieved using a combination of light borders and light inner shadows.
the positions of the control points of these cubic curves are calculated in the jsx
try changing the value of count and all the lines should just look right
Goals for my 20s:
- Understand: computers, microeconomics, psychology, game theory, persuasion
- Build: make something people want, help others build too
- Live: create, read, explore, and meet more like-minded people along the way
@Suhail
I think burn out comes from being dissatisfied with your work.
When you do meaningful work it should make you feel content and accomplished.
If it doesn't, maybe you just don't find it so meaningful?
@mudza252
I'll probably share a CodeSandbox for a bunch of buttons in a little while, once I'm done with them. I have a bunch that I'm making in the same React project

Wonder what it's like at OpenAI rn
I like the idea of photography as a creative outlet, because it means you have to go outside and explore.

Made this during a break
In game dev, there's this concept of "juice" (or "game feel"). Splashes, screenshake, etc.
It's important, it makes your game feel alive. If an explosion happens but the camera doesn't shake, did you really feel it?
web devs should think like that too
we all started between 10-14 by downloading Photoshop/Illustrator because we wanted to make custom pfps/avatars, themes, templates etc
I remember wanting to make a custom playstation 3 theme, custom cursors for my laptop, and an animated avatar for MSN
@adamwathan
maybe something like this?
`group-hover` turns the opacity down and `hover` turns it back up for each icon
not sure if thats what you're looking for but it's the first thing that popped into my head
I want to start writing and sharing my thoughts about branding, marketing, "the online game" etc
I also have a bunch of lists: old school ads I've collected, examples of product-led growth, online directories. will share these too
probably on a new personal site
This font is so sick and the website is awesome. Love coming across things like this
I’m downloading the
#basementgrotesque
typeface, the boldest font I’ll ever use on my side-projects. Thank you guys
