Simple question: why isn’t Odisha developed? Nice people…They have stable government. You never hear any controversial news from the state (for the most part). Is it because their CM is an average politician? Genuine question.

This ordinary looking pillar with Garuda standard on top (now missing) was originally erected 2200 years ago in honour of Lord Vasudeva infront of a Vishnu temple at Vidisha, MP by a Greek Ambassador named Heliodorus. He is perhaps earliest known convert to Hinduism...:-)

In addition in Punjabi Hindu tradition Tikka is worn in the middle because it represents Union of Shiva & Parvati in the form of Ardhanarishwara. Hence worn by married women. If I am not mistaken even jhumar on the left side also symbolizes faminie aspect of Ardhanarishwara.

WRONG! That is NOT the Mughal (or Moghul) way of dressing. That is the costume of Hindus of Northern and Northwestern India. What you are doing right now is cultural appropriation. Here is an illustration of original Mughal costume for women (illustration from Baburnama)

A century ago Dalits held the satyagrah (led by BR Ambedkar) to for the entry into the same temple. They wouldn’t have imagined that one day PM from lower caste would be doing kirtan in same temple infront of their beloved god! As a society Hindus have come a long way!

Bhoti/Bodhi language of Ladakha written in Tibetan lipi/script. Tibetan Lipi is derived from Siddhamatrika lipi of medieval Eastern India. It is Siddhamatrika that gave birth to Bengali lipi as well. Official language of former J&K state was Urdu written in Persian script!

This 220 years old Kashi Vishwanathar Temple in Chennai was built by two sisters from a family of Gujarati merchants who settled in Tamilnadu around 1600s. Temple consecrates the Shiva linga that this two women brought from their pilgrimage to Kashi around 1800. #storiesofindia

Ananta-Vasudeva Temple - This ~800 years old majestic Vaishnava temple in Bhuvaneshwar was built by Odiya princess Chandrika in 1278 AD. It was built in honor of her husband & Commander in chief of Odiya army who lost his life while fighting a war against Islamic armies.

History Corrected! PM @narendramodi will inaugurate newly constructed Shri Mahakali Mandir in Pavagarh, destroyed by Sultan Mahmud Begda in 15th century, who made a Dargah there. Dargah has been moved now. PM will also unfurl Dhwaja on Mandir Shikhar, after almost 500 years!

Fascinating map showing Persian toponyms in India. Notice how South India has virtually none. Also see how Odissa has so little Persian toponyms compared to Bengal. Rajasthan has few as well. Himachal has none. Meanwhile, look at the green belt from Punjab to Bihar to Bengal.
