No, Sanjay Manjrekar, India have not been beaten by the conditions. They have been beaten by batting slowly in familiar conditions and also not allowing for any margin by playing only 5 bowlers. When you blame the conditions, you are essentially disrespecting the other team.

At home, I shared the incident to my wife. With the intelligence typical of wives, she told me to stop umpiring because every time I drove to a ground in a car to umpire a game because of some passion, I was stopping another Shrinivas from earning really useful money. 12/n

Shrinivas was the sole bread winner in his family with aged parents and younger siblings. He did several odd jobs and cricket umpiring was one such job for him. While he was keen on the game, the meagre amount paid to umpires per game by KSCA was an added income stream. 9/n

After due consideration, I attempted (and cleared!) the written and verbal tests offered by KSCA. Surprise, surprise, I was now a registered umpire. I started at lower level league games but steadily moved up the ranks and even officiated inter-city school knockouts. 4/n

Top order hasn’t scored for > 2 years. In WTC Final 2021, the top six scored just 289 in 12 innings. No one will talk about it because he who can’t be named is part of the lineup and recently got an IPL hundred too. So just drop the world’s best bowler and all is well.

I was surprised since I always zip the side compartment closed. I checked inside and realised my AirPods were missing. I immediately opened the full bag and checked carefully but nothing. I was in tears as my son had gifted this to me. 2/n

The supervisor also checked my bag personally and then loudly called out his assistant who was on the other side to check the CCTV. Immediately, an elderly couple, who were waiting for their bags said “ Oh is that yours? It has fallen there.” I was relieved and asked “where?” 4/n

Not true. Any which way you spin this, not playing Ashwin and bowling first are monumentally stupid blunders. It doesn’t matter that Shardul scored 50 and Umesh may take 4 wickets in the second innings. Please don’t clutch at straws now and try to convert errors to insights.

Last night @blrcitytraffic stopped me on Richmond road and said I "jumped' the lights. When I protested, I was told to pay fine to avoid "more" charges! We need a system where we can see footage & pay fine or appeal. My word against cops word is just not on. @KamalPantIPS

In great distress, I approached the polite security officer who had manually checked me through and told him my AirPods were missing. He said no one here will touch anything and also checked my bag thoroughly. Then he called out his supervisor and said AirPods are missing. 3/n
