Choosing the one who didn't even successfully keep his spot on the minor league VHL team, while the other scored nearly a goal per game on said VHL team and forced a loan within 14 games, then broke records in 2 consecutive KHL seasons ..
.. is certainly a choice
No one asked, but… Demidov > Michkov.
Both are great players with great puck skills and one key game-breaking tool. But only one has the habits.

Honestly what the hell does John Tortorella do to his players? Put them through some kind of intergalactic, interdimensional strength/conditioning and mental toughness training? The year to year progression while subtracting from the roster is crazy
OH MY GOD Michkov makes a sick backhand pass then gets the puck back, corrals it with his skate, then adeptly tucks it around the goalie and into the net for a fantastic goal 🚨
Matvei Michkov is a Philadelphia Flyer. He pulls off this sick assist, falls down, and STILL finds himself at the net for a loose puck should it come to him
He honestly might be one of the most elite "sniper" prospects since ... ?? someone really, really good
Help me out. Which prospects in recent memory have had better sniping ability?
Michkov vs Demidov is still a worthy debate. They play different games, but they both have special skills. Demidov is flashier and plays with more energy.
Just realized Michkov was apparently left off of the Team Russia 25 roster, for which R. Rotenberg is coach. I'm not 100% sure of anything, but I think MM39 said in a recent interview he was training for the event. If Rotenberg actually did leave him off of the roster.... wow
That does it. Michkov plays a key role in defeating his former club, putting up 3 points (1 G, 2 A)
Michkov now has 10 pts in 8 games with Sochi
Sochi improves to a 9-4 record
My god .... if Danny Briere and the Flyers are on the clock at

and both Demidov and Lindstrom are there ..
1. They have the opportunity to do the funniest thing of all time
2. I'm going to be screaming like a damn school girl

, the 32nd pick, and Colorado's 1st next year, and what I heard was that was too much for Philly. BUT, the two teams were expected to speak again, today, (Friday).

Bob’s list STILL has Berkly Catton at 12th. Our management should be doing everything within their power to make sure we get him. We’ll probably never have another opportunity to draft a player of this caliber
Kid seems clutch. Between Barkey, Tuomaala, and Ciernik .. one of them has to end up a 1st line quality player? Right? .. Right?? We need later round diamonds
My latest for

I also touch on Travis Konecny, Joel Farabee, the

and more.
One of Michkov’s best passes of the year. Firstly, he’s 1 vs 2 protecting the puck like a veteran, then just has eyes in the back of his head on the pass
With every goal he scores, I get closer and closer to thinking he’ll become one of the NHL’s premier shooters. One of those 5-10 players at any given time who has a such an elite shot that it feels unstoppable + feels like whenever he gets a clean shot you expect a goal
Here’s a kind of thing Michkov is never on the receiving end of, but always doing himself. Protects puck beautifully around one guy, then patiently aborts entry, curls back, and finds another man streaking the blue line. MM39 maybe receives a play like this once per month 😂
I felt like there was a change in Michkov’s play today. This was the first time I’ve really seen him in the KHL with a star’s mentality of “it’s my responsibility to make this play work”. It’s almost like the coach said Ok bud we trust you, do whatever you want out there
Well I would say that was the best game of Michkov's KHL career. I'm shocked he only finished with one point. Kokorev failed to realize he was the best player on the ice today and he honestly didn't get enough ice time in the 3rd pd
Anyhow Michkov now has 11 points in 9 games
Michkov's puck support in these games has been.. literally unbelievable. He shades to the NZ puck battle, strips the puck, carries thru the entire DZ himself and breaks out, then somehow he beats the Sochi defenseman to the puck on the forecheck. This is a lazy player? What?
It should be so apparent to everyone by now why he passed on Michkov, right? Agree or not, conceptually, he could not be more transparent about what he values in a forward and the one dimensionality of Michkov ain't it.
Much more on that in the Wilde Cards.
The Avalanche didn’t stop accumulating talent after Landeskog and Mackinnon. Avs don’t win anything if they stopped, which is what the Flyers are doing right now. Flyers got the first 2 guys and said “that’s enough”, unaware they haven’t even drafted half of a championship core
It would appear our boy Michkov is in some genuinely troubled health this season. Now, just consider that he's still breaking all the records with (1) persistent pneumonia (2) being on a shit ass team (3) playing on PP2 without Jesse Graham (4) averaging only 15-16 TOI/gm
I have a feeling this could be normal for the rest of the year for Michkov. Pneumonia isn't the sniffles.
He'll be fine for next year but his lungs just may not be able to go all out every game the rest of this season. May need to sit here & there to be fresh.
I’m sorry.. I’m done with this guy. Corey Pronman is either one of the worst professional talent evaluators ever, or he actually doesn’t watch Michkov beyond a couple of shifts
Name any 18yo KHL player ever with a better win rate in board battles. I doubt there is one
It's more like some of us have been doing this for long enough that it's quite easy to ascertain which were smart picks and which weren't
You know, some of your own colleagues do the same exact thing and grade picks the very next day!
This is pretty great. Not just Michkov’s edgework while he’s getting triple teamed, but the ability to send a no look drop pass while he still has his blades flared. Who is this guy
This masterpiece of a breakout? But seriously, that was creative and effective. He's so unbelievably good at waiting for the puck to get loose a bit, then he steals it and moves it quickly
Wow. If this play had resulted in a goal that would’ve been his most impressive assist ever probably
Grabbed the puck out of the air and weaved in and out of like 3 guys
Oliver Bonk’s production was inflated to an OK number on an absolute powerhouse of a team who parked him in front of the net on the PP and fed him tap ins. He scored like 15 PPG this way
I’m sorry, but no. Please do not get disappointed about this player
In one sequence with the goalie pulled, Michkov starts the rush, enters the zone, sets up Galimov in the slot beautifully, grabs a loose puck and sets up another netfront opportunity, gets a shot off which deflects and hits the post, then attempts another shot which is blocked
One of Sochi's worst games I've watched, and Michkov was definitely not feeling 100% today.
But he still manages to score a goal and maintain his points pace .. an indicator that his 13 pts in 12 games is not a hot streak, but the norm
#FueledbyPhilly
Moving to draft mode, Michael Hage looks like he could be the real deal guys. And I think he’s the type of center the Flyers would covet. At the moment he’s the main dark horse and he’d also be a great center for Michkov stylistically
With those two assists Michkov now has 33 points in 37 games with Sochi, a historic D+1 KHL point total with persistent pneumonia for most of the season.. that has clearly been affecting him
“Don’t trade TK because he’s good and our best player” is such surface level thinking and it’s so funny to see, at least amongst a certain demographic. My recent poll was about 2:1 in favor of trading TK for OTT’s 7th OA pick
How about both in the same tweet 🚀🚀
The 1st one is absolutely preternatural. To get it off that cleanly in that spot with that much velocity and accuracy ..
.. Could Cutter be a 50 goal scorer in the Show? The goal scoring ability is looking genuinely ELITE
#LetsGoFlyers
Michkov scored this goal in his 2nd game back, making this his 2nd point in as many games.
It looks like a trash goal but man he has a nose for the net and rebounds
