A feature-gap between Mac and iOS we’ve finally been able to close with Ulysses version 19 adding full External Folders support.
In July 2003, version 1.0 of Ulysses was released, the predecessor of today’s Ulysses.
On Medium, our co-founder Max shares a personal look back on how it all began and how he got where he is today:
“15 Years Ago, I Went Indie and Didn’t Know It.”
New Ulysses Beta… with Tables!
Yes, you read that right… **TABLES**. On all platforms, with all the features. No half-assed or insert-only hack – this is the full thing.

Here’s a small but useful improvement in Ulysses 17: Lists have become a little smarter!
If you update a list – you add a new item, remove one, or change its hierarchical level – the ordinal numbers of the following items will be updated automatically. 🥳
And this essentially wraps up the year for us. What a ride. We’re now taking a pause, reloading the batteries, and will be back next year. Thank you all for your support! Happy Holidays! 🎄🎅
A new update is live. This one introduces projects to your library and adds several workflow improvements in the process.
(We also fixed an annoying bug where italics would not render correctly. Good thing italics are purely cosmetic.)
“A wonderfully well-rounded app for authors of all types, it packs enough features to give renewed focus to what really matters - your words.”
