there’s a common misconception among FT that the purpose of recruitment is to buy ‘good’ players whereas the *intention* should be to buy your team points. question yourself — if player ‘X’s’ uses to your squad aren’t worth the rumoured prices then why are you coveting for them?

emile smith-rowe ball-carrying. taken the ball from our own half all the way to newcastle’s box — incredible carrying capacity. consistent minutes, no more injury setbacks and we have a wonderful interior on our hands.

jorginho’s performance will, rightly so, overshadow rice’s but he was immense and just as important. his ground coverage + duelling, aerials & timing of jumps to AMA were all instrumental to our OOP masterclass yesterday — give him his flowers.

this is the same with havertz. he grew from 6'1 to 6'4 which is why some people miss his leverkusen days and think he's a technician and a 8/10 hybrid (he isn't). everything came off 'cleaner' because he was much more used to his smaller frame. (a small thread)

My theory about Haaland might have some truth in it. Look at him carry the ball here, far less awkward / clunky. Looks shorter and more coordinated with the ball. This is what current Hojlund looks like.

arsenal potentially letting go of amario cozier-duberry would be a big shame IMO. interested clubs say a lot about him — we *should* tie him down. he’s got what he needs to be a utility interior/winger option — very harvey elliott like.

i’m unsure what people don’t see with havertz at #9 . he himself is a method of chance creation through his box movement, aerial threat and space invading — true ‘xG miner’. one of those shots go in and the TL narrative changes.

arsenal’s RCM player usage can be improved — Ødegaard thriving while surrounded by opposition and in tighter spaces makes him highly effective against low-blocks. but ask yourself, when those spaces become larger + more stretched is he really as useful?

Ethan Nwaneri is a physical freak of nature — manages to maintain control of ⚽️ while under immense contact & pressure. there’s an ambidexterity to his game and fluidity in his movements increasing his capacity in the half-spaces and escaping of play.

gabriel martinelli is another victim of the havertz #8 experiment. simply too far away from goal + not enough of the ball. his ‘moments’ today were poor but you can’t leave him out the game for so long then expect miracles with his low volume of actions.

rafael leão needs arsenal just as much as we need him. he’s got all-timer potential — is he going to hit that under pioli? no chance, give him to arteta. suits all parties, too. arsenal get their superstar left-winger — he becomes a consistent ballond’or contender.

since his growth spurt he also seems awkward when carrying and withstanding contact. once he adjusts to his height and removes the 'rust' of his actions he will look much 'cleaner' on and off the ball and he *𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭* be one of the best #9 's in the world.

‘investing’ into max dowman is fair considering he’s evidently a brilliant player, *but* the true talent is those able to scale his profile into senior football — whereas i believe it’s premature & unethical to do so for a 14 year-old considering development is not always linear.

there's many small issues with his ballstriking which makes him look like a poor finisher. he struggles with his micro-adjustments to make clean contact with an incoming ball, in which he was 'clowned' during the MLS all stars skills challenge.

instead of using his momentum, he’s forced to kill all of his speed, which results in a poor leg swinging action. therefore he generates almost no power and there is an inability for him to drive through the ball with 'punch' as seen below.
