Diolch, Brif Weinidog! Jan told me to tweet: One was born Glyn Dŵr; some achieve Glyndŵrness, and some have Glyndŵrness thrust upon them. What will you do next? Astonish us by striking hard and Welsh while the iron is hot or just sink back again into the old cowtowing?
Very sad to hear of the passing of Jan Morris. Such an incredibly talented author and what an amazing life she had. She was a real treasure to Wales. My thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.
I’m so sorry for Daniel Kawczynski, whose campaign for Reunion won’t winski. Here on the beach, which is still out of reach, the party’s about to beginski
Newyddion Channel 4 heno yn gyrru newyddiadurwraig i Gaernarfon i holi pobol ar y stryd am benodi William a Kate yn Dywysog ac yn Dywysoges Cymru. Tri chyfweliad, pawb yn gefnogol: Saeson oedden nhw i gyd.
Cofio heddiw am hen ewyrth i mi, Geraint, a laddwyd ym mrwydyr Neuve Chapelle ym 1915. Roedd o wedi dyweddïo â Kitty Clausen, merch yr arlunydd George Clausen. Er cof am Geraint y gwnaeth Clausen y darlun enwog ‘Youth Mourning’. Kitty ydi’r ferch yn y llun.
Dywedwch, ddynion o wybodaeth… Mae gwisgo mwgwd mewn siop yn orfodol, ond pam goblyn does neb yn gorfodi neb i’w wneud a pham nad oes hawl i holi am ba reswm mae’r holl bobol ddifwgwd yn ‘exempt’?
‘Digon yw digon, ie ddim? Does gan y rhan fwya’ o’r miloedd o aelodau Yes Cymru ddim syniad o fath yn y byd am be ‘dach chi’n rhygnu ymlaen amdano. Cyd-ddyheu am Gymru rydd maen nhw…’Telynor italiano.
Eryri = plural of Cymraeg ‘eryr’ (‘ridge’) from the same root as the other ‘eryr’ (‘eagle’); not from, but *cognate* with Latin ‘oriri’ (‘to rise’). See ‘The Hwyl I’ve Had With Howlers!’, Prof. Neil Sagam, p. 547.n
Eryri meanwhile is believed to come from the Latin Oriri - To Rise - first documented in the 9th century.
It had been thought to refer to the Welsh name for Eagle - Eryr.
Pictured below is cllr Elfed Wyn ap Elwyn presenting the petition:
‘Awake?’ says the one I’m with. ‘Ok! I want a cywydd. Give me your sweet strict metre promise...’ But I hiss at her: ‘You’re too early, you’re tireless, besotted with knottedness!’ She goes then, full of menace, and with ‘No cywydd, no kiss.’
Interesting to see how similar Welsh and Breton are. Mor Hanternoz (North Sea, exactly as Môr Hanner Nos, "Midnight Sea", though it's Môr Tawch in Welsh - Mist/Haze Sea). Mor Kreizdouar = Môr Craidd Daear, though, we say Môr y Canoldir, which is same. Craidd in Welsh = core.
These are the words of a detached minister. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are clearly carrying out public duties (i.e. work) and I for one welcome them to Wales with open arms.
I like seeing an English football team, but would prefer to have a single UK team instead of England, Scotland, Wales & NI. Anyone else agree?

If I were of a belligerent turn of mind, and if I had a missile launcher on the top of Mynydd Ednyfed, I would aim it at the Centre for Welsh Studies. But I'n not and I haven't so I'll say nos da.

Some people might not be aware but a group of hateful English second home owners have organised a group on facebook opposing Cyngor Gwynedd's measures to control second homes, the members of this group are open about their hatred of the Welsh language and people
Be ti’n darllen? Rwy’n cyd-weld yn llwyr na ddylid cywiro Cymraeg pawb o hyd. Ond mi ddylai’r sawl sy’n gyfrifol am gyhoeddusrwydd Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru fedru treiglo!

Please put Banc Cornicyll in brackets or something after the new name. We can't lose this beautiful name. Translated, it means something akin to 'Lapwing Ridge'. It is name that describes the nature and character of the land. What does someone like

Rhywun rywdro yn gofyn i hen ŵr fu’n ifaciwî yn ardal Cricieth yn ystod y Rhyfel sawl ‘c’ oedd yn enw’r lle adeg hynny. ‘How many seas? There were only the one, and it were bloody cold!’
