Apparently cars like this Fiesta I'm in are obsolete, yet is a good size, has all the kit, will do 50+ mpg all day and you can have one like it for £235/month on a 0% two-year deal. Not the four years at £600/month you'll pay for the electric SUV you 'should' be running. Mental.

Not saying stereotypes exist for a reason but the 'roided up, tailgating RS6 driver reacting to me pulling over to let him pass in an angry launch controlled blaze of horn, flashing headlights and V8 thunder to then pull into McD's drive thru 200yds up road was totally on brand.

When are folk going to realise entitlement to occupy a particular bit of roadspace is NOT the same as it being a sensible place to put yourself? I would never, ever, EVER ride up the inside of a left turning vehicle, especially having just been in its blindspot. Just don’t!

WTF is it with driver 'aids'? Had the lane-keeping doodad on the Mazda3 intervene and attempt to swerve me back into the cyclist I was making space for when I nudged against white lines. Not the first car that's done this to me. Unintended consequences and all that but scary.

Not plugged in at home today ‘because reasons’ so using local public option … at 69p/kWh and dribbling in at 7kW. Which again shows how poor situation still is if you don’t have facility to home charge. Would be cheaper/less faff to run a V8.

As a Serious Motoring Journalist I’m duty bound to scorn cars like this SEAT Ateca, on basis of its boring white-goods SUV/crossoverness. Problem being that it’s proving comfy, spacious, refined, efficient and a good way to carry a family of four and associated kit. Awkward.

Love the GTS 4.0. Hate the triumphalist tone of those saying it vindicates snobbery against 4-cyl 718s. Dismissing them on sound alone is lazy – technically and in manner they put the power down they’re as worthy as the sixes and, arguably, more effective. I'd happily own either.

Aw, man, RIP Sabine. Faster, funnier and with way better banter than any of the fanboys like me who used to go out to the 'ring back in the day. And as much a symbol of place as the castle on the hill. Gutted. #RIPSabine @BTGDale

Gulf stripes would be tacky, right?

So, it's taken me about a year of stalling, delay tactics and general denial but the pin is pulled and the Forester is up for sale. Please, whoever buys it, promise you'll enjoy it as much as I have! DMs open if anyone's interested.

Latest from cycling frontline. Busy T-junction, me turning right out of it, BMW waiting to turn into it, queue of traffic behind him. We make eye contact, he waves me out, I give him a cheery thumbs up and ... we get on with our days. Sorry, that doesn't fit narrative, does it.

No great revelation but, golly, EVs really don’t like this weather, do they. 152 miles to destination, my 204 miles at 90% dropped to 170 miles soon as I set off and heating on max lopped another 30 miles off that. OK tho, time enough for a coffee and a few kWh ... oh.

Had a test car delivered with this weird waggly thing between the front seats. Anyone?

Bentley keeping it real for all the screen sceptics out there. Still one of my favourite features in a modern car.
