It’s getting hot out there and it’s not even summer yet. 🥵 While it’s better than subzero temperatures, working on the street can be very uncomfortable and dangerous in the heat…
This coming Saturday is May 1, International Workers' Day. We begin at Hermannplatz at 5p.m. & stand united in the struggle for workers' rights, especially the rights of trans migrant sex workers! Join us! 1/5

We are looking for witnesses and footage of police violence that happened at the mietendeckel protest
#b1504
. A friend was beaten up and arrested by a group of riot police at Kottbusser Tor around 20:00, 15.04.21
On Friday night, the SPD had the Police evict over 100 People (mostly eastern-european migrants and Roma) from Berlins biggest Tent-City, so an Investor can build an Aquarium there. 1/8
We just got back home from Frobenstr/Kurfürstenstr, where we watched 9 cops get out of a van and stand around a sex worker and a man who had been talking on K’str. The cops van was pulled up close and covered the interaction from most viewpoints except where we were standing.1/7
On Sunday there is a demonstration happening again at Ostkreuz to protest the gentrification of the area and the recent evictions. In the beginning of February, over 100 unhoused people (mostly eastern-european migrants, many Romani)
1/4
The situation we saw tonight is typical, and a classic example of how ultimately and in spite of itself, a ban on sex purchasing which is meant to affect clients, only serves a relentless campaign of police harassment against sex workers. 7/7

100% of the profits from these tees go towards mutual aid for trans s3x workers working outdoors on Frobenstraße. Some folks are unhoused, fleeing violence, drug-users, formerly incarcerated… basically, in precarious situations which sometimes need a quick mutual-aid band-aid.
We want to make perfectly clear, this kind of harassment of women is commonplace in the area. Under COVID-19 regulations, there is a ban on sex purchasing and a fine for clients, but no fine for sex workers. 6/7
Thank you everyone who joined the sex worker bloc at the Revolutionary May 1st demonstration in Neukölln! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Thank you
@BEMigrantifa
for inviting us & organising! 🔥🔥 Trans sex worker liberation & autonomy forever! 🔥🔥

After our most recent post to Instagram, our account has been deactivated. It’s our most important platform for receiving donations as we have a reach of over 2,500.
@instagram
, we’re a registered social organisation and we follow your rules! What is going on? 🥵
Sex work is criminalized in most countries on the planet. This and stigma, leads to sex workers and victims of exploitation to stay away from police and counceling centers.
It is important to inform people that sex work is legal in Germany & workers have rights. 4/16
T*SW: What was the camp like for the residents?
A: “For all the people who lived there, that was home. It was the same for me. When I saw the police, I felt like they were taking my house.”
Saying we are "advertising" pr*stitution, is no different than when christian fundamentalists acuse doctors of "advertising abortions". We also offer support and information to people needing to access an abortion. yes, yes, we will all burn in hell... *yawn* 13/16
Last night one of our helpers was verbally and physically attacked by two employees of the B&B Hotel on Potsdamer Str., because he was handing out condoms to sex workers. We have filed a police report and are demanding a statement from the hotel.
WE NEED DONATIONS!
We are the only ones distributing these items in Bülowkiez at night that we know of. Since the new FFP2 mask mandate in Berlin we have started handing out masks and condoms to all street-based sex workers (trans and cis). 1/2
If you are a trans-, inter- and/or non-binary SWer and are struggling financially, please reach out to us to get free surgical- or FFP2 masks (message us on here or send us an email).
A: “Bring food and clothes. I think a new camp will be set up somewhere else. It's like someone kicking you out of your apartment - you find a new apartment. If a new camp comes, I think I'll go there too. People can bring things and help set up the camp."
T*SW: Many trans people do not go to the accommodation for fear of discrimination & violence or rejection by the accommodation. Do you think the trans people from the camp at Ostkreuz who have been cleared will go to the accommodations?
T*SW: We are fighting together at Trans*SexWorks to ensure that a trans only accommodation is opened. Do you think trans people who don't have an apartment will go if it is trans only?
From nose to tail, the whole cop encounter took about 55 minutes. When she was eventually able to leave, we briefly spoke to her about what happened. 3/7
She told us she was asked for ID, searched and issued a warning (her second) for sitting on the stoop. There were plenty of men loitering on the street in the meantime, 4/7
including a man who we had previously seen following her out of the train station in a threatening way, which is why we had hung around in the first place before the cops arrived. 5/7
The man left after about 20 minutes, he wasn’t searched and seemed very relaxed, almost blended in with the cops. For the following 35 minutes, the police thoroughly searched the woman’s bag, clothes, shoes. 2/7
Some people might have no previous experience in SW, but are considering starting.
Such people, we recommend to go to an introduction to SW aka "Einstiegsberatung" at Hydra e.V. 9/16
If you are still worried about us being human traffickers, please feel free to reach out to the KOK -the German network against human trafficking. They will be able to give you real information on exploitation and trafficking and can assist you with questions you might have.16/16
We are not suprised to see so many people worried about trafficking when it comes to white Ukrainian women, while this is barely a topic when talking about non-white refugees. 14/16
We are on Frobenstr right now and spoke to two sex workers who were running away from the police. They told us the police checked their ID’s and said if they saw them loitering again they would be fined between €150 - €400. 1/2
It is vital to know the legal framework in the country you are in and what are your rights as a sex worker. This can prevent exploitation and issues with the police and government. 3/16
SWERFs and fundamentalists aren't scared of trafficking, they are scared of "white slavery".
BIPoC however are
the main victims of trafficking and exploitation worldwide. 15/16
It is very common for people to do sex work in a time of need and financial insecurity. Fleeing war is one of those. Sex work is a way to make money anonymously, with no work permit, without educational certificates and without speaking much German/English. 6/16
Starting to work in a new country can be a frightening experience. It is important to have community, access to counselling & health services and to be able to talk to other workers about ones experiences. This is what we are offering. 8/16
About half of the people that
go though this introduction, do not end up working in sex work. It is not "advertising" sex work, but giving people the information and support that they need to make a
self-determined choice.
11/16
Welfare and minimum wage jobs do not cover the costs of sending money abroad to family and friends that might still be in Ukraine. Not everyone will have access to welfare or be able to work a mimimum wage job. 7/16
Please join us today at 13:00 at Platz der Luftbrücke to protest against the racism and Nazis in security agencies & Police. Keep your eyes out for the red umbrellas!
1/4
We are offering peer-counselling for sex workers (SW) who have fled Ukraine.
When looking for information on how SW functions in Berlin, getting it from fellow sex workers, queers and migrants and other reliable sources can be very important.
2/16
A few from our group spent all Saturday helping our trans & queer siblings and their friends and family get their belongings, and move them to a new location. Trans and Queer people experience a lot of violence in shelters and trans women are often not even let inside them. 4/8
To be clear, under COVID-19 regulations there is a ban on sex purchasing and a fine for clients, but no fine for sex workers. This is not the first time we have heard this - the police are intimidating and harassing women every night. 2/2
it’s weird to me that the parallel between sex worker rights & abortion rights is not taken more seriously by mainstream feminists. both are issues of bodily autonomy & who gets to decide what we do with our bodies. SWers will fight for abortion, i’d like to see some reciprocity.
There are many reasons why people do not want to move to a shelter: the shelters are not COVID safe, they usually arent open during the day, there are strict rules, pets often arent allowed, drug users are often not let inside etc. 3/8
The fact that most of the residents are Roma seems to not have been taken into any consideration and while we were there all day, we did not see any translators. 6/8
[THREAD & CALL TO ACTION]
No Pride without Sex Workers!
We (Trans*sexworks, Sex Worker Action Group, colleagues and supporters) are calling for sex worker blocs at this year's various Pride demonstrations. We want to be visible and put a focus on the struggles of sex workers and
The eviction started suddenly at 10pm and lasted all night, while it was -10*C (14*F) outside and snowing. The residents where offered to move to a shelter, but most chose not to. 2/8
The person who was beaten up is an Algerian-German, brown skin & black curly hair. He was wearing a black North Face puffer jacket, blue jeans, doc martens & a washed out grey cap. Write to us directly or email sexworksberlin

The treatment of street-based sex workers during this pandemic by police has once again shown how little they care for our wellbeing. This is not safety! We demand rights and not raids! 4/4

We talked to people and residents that were there last night and the police apperently worked together with 2 white&german NGOs (KARUNA and Gangway) that intimidated people to make them leave. 7/8
Today the committee on "Women, Queer and Inclusion" (Tempelhof-Schöneberg) voted unanimously for the district office to look into funding & starting a shelter for trans people who are experiencing homelessness in Berlin! 1/4
The so-called 'Prostitution Protection Law' does not protect us! Sex work is not a moral issue, it's a worker's rights issue! See you on the street! Look out for red umbrellas! 5/5

Today is International Sex Workers Rights Day. Sex workers demand working rights. We do not want to be “rescued” by moralistic preachers or slut-shaming women. We went the same working rights as others and want to live free from stigma. 🏳️⚧️👠

Some good news... we’re so thankful for the donations we have received so far! Your support really keeps us afloat! This afternoon was spent organising a mountain of condoms which will be distributed in Frobenstraße and Kurfürstenstraße 🤝
Trans* sex workers need donations of FFP2 (N-95) masks which are state regulation here in Germany, but unfortunately very expensive for us to regularly supply! We take FFP2 masks to the street three nights a week along with other essentials listed here:
Starting from this Thursday, you will be able to drop-in between 14:00-18:00 at Casa Kuà for peer-to-peer counselling, with volunteers from
@transsexworks
.
We’re offering this support to s3x workers (of all genders) who are fleeing war and looking to start s3x work in Berlin.1/3
Germany's Constitutional Court ruled that the state of Berlin has no jurisdiction to implement a "rent cap law" ("Mietendeckel"). Since June 2019 the rents in the city have been frozen and the rents on overpriced apartments had to go down. This was a big win for Berlin! 1/6
At the beginning of this week, we all heard about the devastating news from Atlanta, USA. On Tuesday, 8 people were killed and others wounded in a mass shooting by a white man who was targeting Asian massage parlours and spas. 1/5
Time and time again, it's been documented that sex workers encounter the most violence at work when we are forced to deal with cops. Dealing with police hostility should not be a daily reality! 4/5

POLITICAL REPRESSION SUPPORT NEEDED!
It’s a long shot, but we are searching for videos of an arrest that took place last year, on 15.04.21 at the huge Mietendeckel protest. The arrest happened at Kottbusser Tor.

Today from 1pm we’ll be at the rally organised by

in Schöneberg. Trans*Sexworks & Sex Worker Action Group have given interviews which will be screened at Nollendorfplatz. For more info:
A: “Ja.
We invite you to join us at Hermannplatz at 18:00 today to protest alongside
@dwenteignen
and many others! We will be meeting outside Dunkin Donuts! Housing must be for people, not for landlords! 6/6
It’s freezing tonight! Everyone is looking fabulous but feeling the cold. Many tonight are talking about having a short shift because of the temperature. Unfortunately the Kurfürstenstraße U-Bahn is closed so there is nowhere to really take shelter from the cold.
MASKS: At the end of last year we received some surgical- and FFP2 Masks, paid by the government to hand out. This was before the new mask rules and now that everyone needs to wear these disposable masks and as a result, we are handing out more than expected! 2/7
If you have a few euros to spare, we would be thrilled to receive a box of masks. The address is in the picture above. Big thanks to everyone that has already donated masks! ❤️ 3/7
People from our project spoke to many reporters yesterday about how the eviction will affect the trans & street-based sex worker residents. It’s a shame but unsurprising that we haven’t seen any of our conversations cited in the news coming out about this over the weekend. 🧐
Thanks to the artists Holly Paynter and Yenny Grant for donating their work and also Solidarity Print Network for making this collaboration happen so smoothly. Find the tees here:
Many sex workers (both cis and trans), trans women & queer people lived here. We want to continue fighting for our friends and are calling for our queer siblings, colleagues and allies to come to the demo on Sunday!

Police raids usually dont help anyone, on the contrary: these bad experiences make it less likely for people to report any violence they might have expierenced. 3/4
Untill then, we really need donations of condoms and small packs of lube (around 4ml packs) so we can continue to distribute these on Frobenstr. and Kurfürstenstr. at night. 5/7
CONDOMS: In the past, we got our condoms and lube from an organization that we have chosen to no longer work with and are trying to find a new steady condom-income. 🙃 4/7
Was denkst du können Menschen machen um zu helfen?
“Bringen Essen und Kleidung. Ich denke es wird ein neues Camp gemacht wo anderes. Es ist wie jemand schmeissen dich aus deiner Wohnung...
PHONES: In the past few months it has been very hard for us to keep in contact with unhoused trans SWers that do not have (access to) a phone. We want to start handing out phones with sim cards to stay in contact with the most vulnerable people in our group. 6/7
Unaffordable housing drives people deeper into poverty, forcing people into unsafe working conditions, something we see regularly in the street-based trans s3x work community which is majority migrant/PoC. We are furious that the rent cap law is being overturned. 4/6
