@BaseballQuotes1 He’s warming up the muscles that power motion in the frontal plane and then pitching with the muscles that power motion in the transverse plane. Somebody fed him some bad information. Pitching is done in a closed kinetic chain and Quarterbacking is done in an open kinetic chain.

Juan Soto hit his 3rd HR of the night on a 96 MPH fastball at top of the inner 1/3 of the zone…….Juan figured out how to load in the transverse plane. This means Juan’s trunk and head stay motionless throughout the entirety of his swing. The left side and right side of hips

Juan Soto has gone from holding the bat in the lateral longitudinal arch of his hands to holding the bat in the transverse arch of his hands. The subtle grip change now allows Juan to use the flexor carpi ulnaris and the extensor carpi ulnaris muscles in both of his forearms.

@ihoodiezo @Buster_ESPN There are mechanoreceptors in our hands that determine the angles in which our body moves. These mechanoreceptors coincide with the arch of the hand a hitter holds the bat in. Our body is wired cross laterally so the opposite foot arch will always match the opposite hand arch.

@_dadler That’s a great graphic to highlight his 360 degree swing arc….All made possible by the transversal tarsal joint in his feet.

A lot of people in the hitting world confuse turning in the frontal plane with rotating in the transverse plane. When a hitter turns in the frontal plane, the humerus “rides” with the trunk. When a hitter rotates in the transverse plane, the humerus “rides” with the hands.
